House drawing for kids gets a lot more fun once winter shows up, because every roof gets a blanket of snow and every window gets a warm little glow. Each house below starts with a few bold shapes your child already knows how to draw: a square, a triangle, a circle for a window. Add one cheerful detail, a smoking chimney, a waving snowman, a sleepy puppy, and the picture is finished.
Below you will find 28 different snowy homes, from a plain little cottage to a castle with two towers. Work through them in order if you like, since they go from the simplest shapes to slightly busier scenes, or just pick whichever house catches your child’s eye. Grab paper, a black marker and some bright crayons or markers and start with the first one that makes someone smile.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Start the snowy cottage with a simple square for the body and a triangle roof sitting right on top, both drawn in thick black marker so the shapes stay bold from the very first line. Add a round window in the middle of the roof and a small rectangle chimney poking out one side, then a plain door at the bottom of the square.
Draw the smoke as two or three soft loops rising from the chimney, and pile a thick white wave of snow along the roofline and across the ground. If the roof line wobbles, just go over it once more with a steady hand, thick outlines forgive a shaky second pass.
Measure the house against the paper before you start: make the square take up the middle third of the page so there is room for snow on the ground and sky above. Fill the walls with a warm yellow or soft brown and leave the snow white.
If your child does not have a round window shape handy, trace a coin or a bottle cap for a perfect circle. Keep the smoke loops loose and round, tight little curls look fussy next to such a simple house.
Palette: Warm Yellow,Barn Red,Snow White,Soft Grey
Draw the igloo as one big dome shape, like half a circle sitting on the ground, then add a short curved tunnel entrance poking out the front. A few curved lines across the dome suggest the stacked snow blocks without needing to draw every single one.
Inside the dark doorway, draw a small dog face peeking out: two round ears, two dot eyes and a little nose is all it takes. Finish with a flat stretch of snowy ground and a pale blue sky behind the dome.
Picture the eye level low, right at the dog’s height looking straight out of the tunnel, since that is what makes the peeking feel real rather than just a dog standing next to a house. Keep the horizon line low too so the dome fills most of the page.
If curved block lines feel tricky, skip them altogether and leave the dome plain white with just the outline, it still reads clearly as an igloo. Color the dog any fun shade, a dog does not need to look realistic here, just happy.
Palette: Snow White,Sky Blue,Warm Brown,Charcoal Grey
Build the log cabin from a square body made of several horizontal lines stacked like real logs, then top it with a simple triangle roof covered in a thick snow line. A small square window and a plain door finish the main shape.
Next to the door, stack three or four short brown logs into a little pile, this is the one detail that makes the scene feel lived in. Add a short chimney with one puff of smoke and a row of small triangle pine trees beside the cabin if there is room.
Work the quick version in about ten minutes with just four or five log lines and no trees. The forty minute version adds bark texture with short diagonal marks on each log and little dots of snow caught on the woodpile.
Once this cabin works, try it again next time with the door on the other side or swap the pine trees for a single snowy bush. A brown crayon on its side, instead of a marker, gives the logs a soft woodgrain look fast.
Palette: Log Brown,Pine Green,Snow White,Soft Grey
Keep the house itself plain here, a square with a triangle roof and one window, since the real star of this scene is the snowman standing in the front yard. Draw him from three stacked circles, biggest at the bottom, then a small round head on top.
Give him two stick arms, one raised straight up in a wave, plus a round orange nose and a row of coal dot buttons down the middle circle. A simple black hat, just a rectangle with a small brim, sits on his head.
Measure his height against the house before drawing him in: a snowman that reaches about halfway up the door looks right and friendly, not oversized. If the three circles come out uneven, that is fine, a lopsided snowman is part of the charm.
No orange crayon for the nose? A small triangle in any warm color still reads as a carrot. Finish with a light dusting of dot marks across the yard for falling snow.
Palette: Snow White,Carrot Orange,Coal Black,Sky Blue
Draw this house as one tall narrow rectangle, taller than it is wide, which already makes it look different from every other house on the page. A thin triangle or flat roof sits on top, and three or four small square windows line up one above the other down the front.
Give every single window ledge a thick white snow cap sitting on its bottom edge, that repeated detail is what makes the house feel buried in winter. One door at the bottom with its own small snow step finishes the shape.
Check the proportion by comparing width to height: if the rectangle is about one third as wide as it is tall, the house reads as properly tall and skinny rather than just a normal house drawn big. Stack the windows with even spacing so the tallness feels deliberate.
If straight edges wobble freehand, rest a ruler or a book edge along the sides of the rectangle before outlining in marker. Alternate two wall colors in vertical stripes for a fun variation next time.
Palette: Dusty Blue,Snow White,Brick Red,Soft Grey
Start with the tree trunk, one thick curved line running up the page, then add a round cloud shape of branches at the top covered in soft white snow lumps. The treehouse itself is a small square with a triangle roof sitting right inside the branches.
A round window and a tiny door on the treehouse keep it simple, then draw the rope ladder as two long parallel lines with short rungs crossing between them, running from the treehouse down to the ground. Snow sits along the top of every branch.
Picture the light coming from one side, maybe the upper left, and leave that side of the trunk and branches a touch lighter while the opposite side gets a darker shadow line. That single choice makes the tree look round instead of flat.
If the rope ladder rungs come out uneven, space them with small pencil dots first before going over them in marker. A quick version skips the ladder rungs and just shows two loose rope lines hanging down.
Palette: Tree Brown,Pine Green,Snow White,Rope Tan
This barn house follows the classic barn shape, a rectangle body topped with a roof that bends partway up like a gentle gambrel, a shape kids usually enjoy once they see how the two roof angles meet. Paint or color the whole thing a bold barn red with white trim around the door and window.
In the square window, draw a simple horse head poking out: a long curved face, two pointy ears and a little mane line. Snow sits along the roof edges and in a drift against the barn wall.
Look at where the horse’s eye sits compared to its ear and nose: keep the eye about a third of the way down the face shape and the whole head reads correctly even in a few simple lines. A longer face than you think it needs usually looks more horse-like than a short one.
No red marker on hand? Orange and a touch of brown blended together gets close enough for a barn. For more ideas that pair a small house with snowy scenery, this scenery drawing for kids list is worth a look too.
Palette: Barn Red,Snow White,Warm Brown,Hay Gold
Draw the mushroom house stem first, a wide rounded rectangle, then top it with a big round mushroom cap that overhangs the stem on every side like a real umbrella. A round door and window cut into the stem keep the house readable underneath all that cap.
Instead of a flat snow line, give the mushroom cap a lumpy, fluffy edge of snow all around its curve, like frosting dripping over the sides. A few white snow dots scattered on the cap itself finish the cozy look.
Work the quick ten minute version with just the cap, stem, door and snow edge. The longer version adds small round spots under the snow on the cap, the way a real mushroom often has pale spots peeking through.
If the cap curve comes out lopsided, draw it as two gentle arcs meeting at a point rather than one single sweep, it is easier to control. This house pairs nicely with the whimsical little homes in this fairy house drawing collection.
Palette: Mushroom Red,Snow White,Stem Tan,Pine Green
Draw the houseboat as a simple boat shape, a long curved bottom with a small square cabin sitting on the deck, and a tiny chimney or flagpole sticking up. Beneath it, instead of water, draw a flat sheet of pale blue ice stretching across the whole bottom of the page.
Add a few jagged white crack lines across the ice to show it is frozen solid, and a short line where the ice meets the hull to show the boat sitting snug inside it. Snow caps the cabin roof just like any other house.
Keep the horizon line, where the ice meets the sky, low on the page so the little boat and its cabin get most of the space to be seen clearly. A low horizon also leaves room for a soft winter sky above.
If drawing a boat hull feels tricky, simplify it to one long curved line and one straight line underneath, it still reads as a boat shape. Dot a few small fish shapes under the ice for a fun extra touch.
Palette: Ice Blue,Boat Brown,Snow White,Sky Grey
Build this cottage from a simple square and triangle roof, then instead of a flat snow cap along the roof edge, draw a row of pointed icicles hanging straight down, longer in the middle and shorter toward the corners. A round window and a cheerful front door finish the walls.
Each icicle is just a thin triangle, so draw a line of small dots first to space them evenly before connecting them into points. Color them pale blue or leave them white with a thin blue outline so they stand out against the dark roof.
Try drawing the icicles at a slight angle rather than perfectly straight down, since real icicles rarely hang in a dead straight row and the small tilt makes the roofline feel more alive. Keep the longest one roughly centered.
If spacing the icicles evenly feels fiddly, a ruler laid along the roof edge works as a quick guide for dot placement. A dry light blue crayon dragged lightly over white gives the icicles a nice icy shimmer.
Palette: Cottage Pink,Ice Blue,Snow White,Roof Grey
This house hides inside a gentle hill, so start with a wide rounded mound shape instead of a square, like a soft hill rising from the ground. Cut a round green door right into the front of the mound, with a tiny round window beside it.
Snow covers the whole hill in a soft white layer, leaving just the door and window in color, plus maybe a small round chimney poking out of the very top of the mound with a curl of smoke. A curved path of stepping stones leads up to the door.
Picture the whole house sitting low and wide rather than tall, since the roundness is what makes it feel tucked into the hillside like a cozy little den. Keep the door smaller than you think, a small door against a big round hill looks snugger.
If the mound shape comes out too pointed, round off the top with a few extra curved strokes until it looks soft all over. These snug little dwellings fit right alongside the hobbit-style homes in the fairy house drawing ideas.
Palette: Hill Green,Snow White,Door Green,Stone Grey
Draw the doghouse as a small square with a simple triangle roof, scaled smaller than the kid-sized houses earlier in this list since it belongs to a puppy, not a person. Cut a rounded arch doorway into the front rather than a square one.
Inside the dark doorway, draw a small curled puppy shape, just a round body with a tucked head and two floppy ears, fast asleep. Snow sits along the roof ridge and drifts gently against the base of the doghouse.
Compare the doorway size to the puppy curled inside it: the arch should be just a little bigger than the puppy shape so it looks like a snug fit rather than a cave. That small comparison keeps the whole scene feeling cozy and in proportion.
If drawing a curled sleeping dog feels tricky, start with one oval for the body and tuck a smaller circle head into one end, ears and a tail curl come last. A soft brown or grey crayon colored lightly gives the puppy a sleepy, fuzzy look.
Palette: Doghouse Red,Snow White,Puppy Tan,Roof Brown
Keep this one simple and small: a tall narrow oval or rounded rectangle for the birdhouse body, a round hole near the top for the entrance, and a little perch stick poking out just below it. A pointed roof sits on top, piled high with snow.
Perch a small bird right on the snowy roof peak, drawn from one round body shape, a small pointed beak and two thin stick legs. A single branch behind the birdhouse gives it somewhere to hang from.
Check the bird’s size against the birdhouse roof: keep the bird noticeably smaller than the house itself so the scale still reads correctly even though both shapes are simple. A bird too large next to its house looks odd no matter how well it is drawn.
If the round entrance hole is hard to get even, trace a small coin or a marker cap for a clean circle every time. Kids who enjoy small cheerful wildlife scenes might also like the bright birds in this cardinal drawing list.
Palette: Birdhouse Brown,Snow White,Cardinal Red,Branch Grey
Draw the yurt as a wide round-topped shape, like a dome sitting on a short cylinder base, which already feels different from the pointed roofs seen earlier in this list. A thick striped pattern, alternating two colors in vertical bands, decorates the round door right in the middle.
A short pole sticks up from the very top of the dome where real yurts vent smoke, with one soft puff drawn above it. Snow dusts the curved roofline and piles along the base where the yurt meets the ground.
Picture the light source coming from one side and shade the opposite curve of the dome slightly darker, just a few curved lines close together, to help the round roof look like it actually curves rather than sitting flat. That single shading trick does a lot of work on a round shape.
If striping the door freehand feels tricky, draw the door as one plain rectangle first, then add vertical lines evenly spaced with a ruler before coloring them in two alternating colors.
Palette: Yurt Cream,Stripe Red,Stripe Blue,Snow White
Build the castle from one wide rectangle body flanked by two narrower cylinder towers, one on each side, each topped with its own pointed cone roof. A row of small square notches along the top of the main wall gives it that classic castle silhouette.
Snow sits along every flat surface, the tops of the towers, the notched wall edge and the ground below, while a round window sits in the center of the main wall and small flags top each cone roof. A drawbridge or simple door finishes the front.
Compare the height of the two towers before drawing them in: keeping them exactly the same height and the same distance from the center wall makes the little castle look balanced and sturdy rather than lopsided. Measure with your fingers against the paper if it helps.
If the notched top edge feels fiddly, draw it as a simple zigzag line first in pencil, then square it off once the spacing looks even. These castle shapes also show up nicely among the folk-style houses in this Christmas house drawing list.
Palette: Castle Grey,Snow White,Flag Red,Tower Blue,Window Yellow
Draw the house body first, a simple square with a flat or gently sloped roof, then lift the whole thing up on four or six thin straight stilts reaching down to a flat sheet of frozen lake below. A small ladder or set of steps connects the house to the ice.
Crack lines across the pale blue ice show it is frozen solid, and a line of small evergreen trees along the far edge gives the scene a sense of place. Snow caps the roof and dusts the top of each stilt where it meets the house.
Look at where the eye level sits: draw it low, near the base of the stilts, so the viewer feels like they are standing on the ice looking up at the house, which makes the stilts feel properly tall and important in the scene. A higher eye level would hide them.
If drawing six evenly spaced stilts feels like a lot, four is plenty and still looks balanced. Keep each stilt the exact same width so the house reads as sturdy rather than wobbly.
Palette: House Yellow,Ice Blue,Pine Green,Snow White
The A-frame is really just one big triangle from roof peak straight down to the ground on both sides, with a small rectangle doorway cut into the base and a round window placed higher up near the peak. There is almost no wall to draw, the roof is the whole house.
Pile a thick wave of snow partway up each sloped side, heaviest near the bottom and thinning as it climbs toward the peak, since that is how snow actually sits on a steep roof. A short chimney pokes out near the top with one curl of smoke.
For the quick ten minute version, draw the triangle, door, window and one snow line and stop there. The forty minute version adds a wooden deck along the front, a railing, and a small pile of firewood stacked beside the door.
If the triangle sides come out uneven, fold a scrap paper in half first to find a true center line, then draw each side to match it. This bold simple shape is also a favorite in the winter doodles collection if more quick winter ideas sound fun.
Palette: Roof Brown,Snow White,Window Yellow,Sky Blue
Stack two simple rectangles for this one, a wider one on the bottom floor and a slightly smaller one above it, topped with a plain triangle roof. Each floor gets its own row of square windows, and a front door sits centered at the very bottom.
In one of the upper windows, draw a small kid shape, just a round head and a raised stick arm waving through the glass, which gives the whole house a friendly feel instantly. Snow caps the roof and dots the window ledges below.
Compare the two floors before drawing them in: keep the top floor a little narrower than the bottom one so the house reads as properly stacked rather than two separate boxes glued together. A ruler or straight edge keeps both floors level.
If drawing a tiny waving figure feels fussy, a simple circle head with two dot eyes and one raised line for the arm is plenty at this size. Swap the waving kid for a cat in the window next time for a different mood entirely.
Palette: House Blue,Snow White,Roof Brown,Window Yellow
Draw the ice hotel as a wide dome or rounded block shape, built entirely from pale blue walls instead of brick or wood, with thick rounded edges to suggest carved ice blocks. Cut one tall archway into the front wall as the entrance, open enough to peek inside.
Through the archway, draw a tiny simple bed, just a rectangle base with a folded blanket line and a small pillow shape, sitting on a raised platform of ice. A few icy sparkle marks, small crossed lines, scattered around the walls add shimmer.
Keep every wall line slightly rounded rather than sharply straight, since real ice blocks have soft worn edges, and that rounding is what makes the building read as ice rather than stone. Pale blue with white highlights down one side suggests the glossy surface catching light.
If pale blue feels too flat on its own, layer a very light grey over parts of the wall for extra icy depth. No light blue crayon on hand? White with a thin blue marker outline works just as well.
Palette: Ice Blue,Pale Grey,Snow White,Blanket Red
Draw a small square cabin with a triangle roof tucked among two or three tall thin triangle pine trees standing behind and beside it, each tree topped with its own cap of snow. A single warm yellow window glows against the darker woods around it.
Near the front door, draw a deer standing quietly, a simple body shape on four thin legs, a small head with two tall antler branches, and a short tail. Keep the deer facing the door as though it just wandered up to visit.
Compare the deer’s height to the cabin door: a deer about as tall as the door itself looks right in scale and keeps the scene feeling gentle rather than oversized. Antlers are just a few thin branching lines, no need to make them elaborate.
If antlers feel tricky to draw symmetrically, sketch one side lightly in pencil first, then trace over it in reverse for the other side before inking both in marker. For more woodland winter pairings, the Christmas scene drawing ideas are worth a browse.
Palette: Cabin Brown,Pine Green,Snow White,Deer Tan
Draw the farmhouse as a simple rectangle with a red triangle roof and a small covered porch along the front, a few square windows lined up evenly across the front wall. Behind the house, draw a wide flat stretch of field broken into a few large rolling sections rather than one plain strip.
Cover the fields in a soft white snow layer, leaving a few thin brown fence lines poking up through it to show where the field edges are. A small silo or fence post beside the house adds a nice farmhouse touch without much extra work.
Picture the horizon line placed about a third of the way down the page, which leaves plenty of room for a wide snowy sky above the fields and keeps the farmhouse from feeling cramped at the top of the paper. A low horizon suits wide open scenes like this one.
If drawing rolling field sections feels fiddly, two or three long gentle curves across the page are enough to suggest rolling land. Red can swap for soft grey if a quieter color feels nicer for this one.
Palette: Roof Red,Farmhouse White,Snow White,Fence Brown
Draw a simple square cottage with a triangle roof and a round window, then run a low picket fence, a row of small pointed posts connected by two horizontal rails, along the front of the yard. Snow sits along the top of every single picket, one thick dot of white on each point.
A small mailbox on a thin post stands just outside the fence gate, with its own tiny cap of snow and a little red flag flipped up on the side. A short path of stepping stones leads from the gate to the front door.
Space the picket posts evenly by marking a row of light pencil dots first before connecting them into pointed fence posts, since an uneven fence is one of the easiest things to notice going wrong in this scene. Keep every post the same height and width.
If drawing a whole fence of evenly pointed posts feels like too much, shorten the fence to just four or five posts near the gate instead of running the full width. For a cheerful matching set, see the house doodles collection too.
Palette: Cottage Blue,Snow White,Fence Brown,Flag Red
Draw a small rectangle body sitting on two round wheels, with a short flat or slightly curved roof piled high with a thick layer of snow. A single square window and a tiny door, both scaled down to fit the small body, keep the whole house feeling cozy and portable.
A short hitch bar sticks out from the front of the house as though it could be towed away, and a little chimney with one curl of smoke pokes through the snowy roof. Snow also dusts the top rim of each wheel.
Compare the wheel size to the house body: wheels about one quarter the height of the whole house look sturdy and correct, too small and the house looks like it is floating, too big and it looks like a wagon instead of a home. Keep both wheels exactly the same size.
If circles for wheels come out uneven, trace a small lid or cap twice for a matching pair every time. Next time, swap the snow for colorful string lights along the roofline for a different mood.
Palette: House Teal,Snow White,Wheel Black,Window Yellow
Draw a round or hexagon-shaped tower body for the windmill house, narrower at the top than the bottom, topped with a small pointed cap roof. From the center of the cap, four long thin sail blades cross in an X shape, each one dusted with a line of snow along its edge.
A round door and small window sit low on the tower body, and snow piles along the base where the tower meets the ground. Keep the four sails evenly spaced around the center point so the windmill looks balanced even standing still.
Picture where the light falls across the tower and shade one side of the rounded body slightly darker with close parallel lines, which helps the tower read as curved rather than flat even though it is really just an outline shape. The sails can stay flat and bright since they are thin.
If drawing four evenly spaced sails feels tricky, draw one vertical line and one horizontal line crossing first as a guide, then thicken each into a blade shape. Red and white sails look cheerful against a snowy tower.
Palette: Tower Cream,Sail Red,Snow White,Roof Brown
Draw a simple square house with a triangle roof and one glowing window, then curl a sleeping cat right along the roof’s top edge, tail wrapped around its body and ears tucked low. A light dusting of snow surrounds the cat without quite covering it, as if it has found the warmest spot on the roof.
Keep the cat shape soft and rounded, one big oval for the curled body with a smaller round head tucked against it, two triangle ears poking up, and a long curved tail wrapping around the front paws.
Compare the cat’s size to the chimney or window nearby to judge proportion: a cat roughly the same length as the window is wide usually looks right at home on a small house roof. Too large and it looks like it belongs on a bigger building entirely.
If the curled cat shape feels tricky, draw one oval first, then add the head, ears and tail around it rather than trying to get the whole curl right in one line. A soft orange or grey crayon colored lightly over the body gives a warm, fuzzy look.
Palette: House Yellow,Cat Orange,Snow White,Roof Brown
If a cat is not the right fit, more feline winter scenes live in the black cat drawing list for extra inspiration on simple curled poses.
Draw a simple square house front with one large window, then stretch a striped awning, alternating two colors in a fan or scallop shape, across the top of the window like a little roof of its own. The awning gives the house a shop-like, cheerful feel even though it is still just a home.
Below the window, draw a small wooden bench with two curved armrests and a few slatted boards across the seat, dusted lightly with snow along the top edge. A round porch light hangs just above the door.
Keep the awning stripes evenly spaced by drawing the scalloped bottom edge first, then adding straight vertical lines up into the fan shape before coloring them in alternating colors. Uneven stripes are the main thing that can make this one look messy.
If a scalloped awning edge feels tricky to draw, a simple straight-edged awning with the same stripes still reads perfectly well and is much easier to get even. Try swapping the bench for a small snowy flower box next time for variety.
Palette: Wall Cream,Awning Red,Awning White,Bench Brown
Draw a wide rectangle body with a steeply sloped triangle roof overhanging the walls on both sides, since that wide overhang is what makes a chalet look different from a regular house. A long balcony with a simple railing runs across the front of the upper floor, piled deep with snow.
Behind the chalet, sketch two or three simple pointed mountain shapes rising up, their peaks capped in white, to set the scene without much extra work. A row of small round lights or lanterns along the balcony railing adds a cozy glow.
Compare the width of the roof overhang to the walls below it: a chalet roof that sticks out noticeably past the walls on both sides reads correctly, a roof that lines up exactly with the walls looks like a plain house instead. That small gap is the detail that sells the whole shape.
If the mountain peaks behind the house come out too jagged, smooth them into two or three simple triangle shapes with rounded tips instead. Warm wood brown walls against cool white snow make this one especially cozy to color.
Palette: Chalet Brown,Snow White,Mountain Grey,Window Yellow
Draw this house as a tall narrow rectangle with a flat or slightly peaked roof, colored in one soft pastel shade like mint, blush pink or pale lavender, the way real row houses often line up in different candy colors. A simple white trim line runs around the door and windows for contrast.
By the snowy front step, draw a small wooden sled leaning against the wall or resting on the ground, just a flat curved base with two upturned front runners and a couple of slat lines across the top. Snow dusts both the step and the sled.
Keep the sled smaller than the front door so it reads as a kid’s sled left outside rather than a large object, comparing the two sizes side by side before committing to the final lines. A sled about half the door’s height usually looks just right.
If the upturned sled runners feel tricky to curve evenly, draw them as two simple diagonal lines instead of full curves, it still reads clearly as a sled. For more cozy winter color pairings, the easy Christmas drawing list has plenty of ideas.
Palette: Pastel Mint,Trim White,Sled Brown,Snow White
What to Do Next
Pick one house that made you smile, grab plain white paper and a black marker, and draw the basic shapes first before adding the one cheerful detail that makes it feel like home. Finish with crayons or markers for bold color, and the snowy scene is done in one sitting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the easiest house drawing for kids to start with?
The snowy cottage with a square body and triangle roof is easiest, since it needs only a few bold shapes and one chimney detail. A child who can draw a square and triangle can finish it quickly.
What materials work best for house drawing for kids?
Thick black marker for outlines and washable crayons or markers for filling in color work best. The bold outline keeps shapes readable even when coloring goes outside the lines a little.
How do you make a house drawing look snowy?
Add a thick wavy white line along the roof edge, window ledges or ground, and leave some areas plain white against colored walls. A few scattered dots across the sky suggest falling snow too.
How can younger kids draw houses if shapes are hard?
Start with just a square, a triangle roof and a door, skipping extra details like windows or chimneys until the basic shape feels comfortable. One cheerful detail, like a smiling snowman, can be added once the house itself feels easy.
How do you keep a house drawing from looking flat?
Add one shaded side using close parallel lines, plus a small shadow under the house where it meets the snowy ground. Even a simple shape looks more solid once one side reads slightly darker than the other.
