These 3d paper dolls bring back the chubby-cheeked, big-eyed kids from old winter greeting cards, each one bundled up for a snowy afternoon. Every sheet holds one child with one clear feeling, from a sled-happy boy to a sleepy girl clutching a hot water bottle, perfect for handmade cards, gift tags and junk journal spreads.
Print each page on matte cardstock at actual size, then cut around the child with a thin white edge left in place. That little border keeps the colors crisp and gives you a clean line to work from when you glue, fold a stand or mount the doll on foam dots for a 3D pop.

Snow Day Outside
Round cheeks and a wide open grin make this chubby boy in his red snowsuit the easiest doll in the set to love on sight, one arm raised and the other gripping his wooden sled tight.
Stand him at the bottom corner of a card that says something about fresh starts or fresh snow, and let the sled lean slightly off the edge of the panel. Older grandkids notice the sled rails are carved to look truly wooden, and little ones just want to send it down the hill all over again.
Head tilted back and mouth open mid-catch, a girl in a white fur hat and matching muff tries to land one snowflake right on her tongue, pure wonder across her face.
Eyebrows up and a sly half smile give this boy away instantly: he is hiding a packed snowball behind his back in a bobble hat and striped scarf, ready to spring an ambush on whoever reads the card.
Write a cheeky line beside him about trouble being on its way, then tuck him into a card for a grandchild who loves a good prank. Mount him on a foam dot so the hidden hand lifts slightly off the page, which reads as a little giveaway wink.
Arms flung wide for balance and knees bent at an awkward angle, a girl in ice skates and a pleated skirt giggles through a wobble on the rink, caught mid teeter.
Nothing sells a laugh like a toddler so stuffed into his puffy coat that his arms stick straight out at his sides, cheeks squished and a proper scowl on his small round face.
Pair this doll with a lighthearted caption about getting ready for the cold, written small beside his feet. He stands up beautifully on a craft stick pushed behind the card panel, so he can peek over the top of a gift bag at the mailbox or the grandkids’ cocoa mugs.
Chest puffed and chin lifted, a boy in furry earmuffs holds up a bright orange carrot, clearly proud to be the one chosen to give the snowman his nose.
Rosy and delighted, this girl in a knitted cape wraps both mittened hands around a steaming mug of cocoa, marshmallows just visible at the rim, the picture of a warm break from the cold.
She anchors a cozy winter journal spread beautifully, especially next to a strip of washi that looks like a knitted border. Readers who enjoy pairing crafts with food themes might also like the watercolor ice cream ideas for a warm weather companion page.
Mouth wide in a startled yelp and shoulders hunched up to his ears, a boy in a plaid coat jumps as snow slides straight down the back of his collar.
Laughing with her head thrown back, a girl in mittens tied on a string swings a little snow shovel like it is the funniest job in the world, snow flying off the blade.
She works nicely as a gift tag for a neighbor who always clears the front path first, with her name looped through the mitten string at the top. Set her beside the sneaky snowball boy for a small scene of outdoor chaos on one page.
Jaw set and eyebrows drawn down with effort, a boy in a thick wool cap leans forward hauling a rope, towing an empty toboggan up the hill one stubborn step at a time.
Eyes half closed and shoulders drooping, a girl in a pom-pom hat hugs a hot water bottle to her middle, clearly ready for a nap after a long morning in the snow.
She suits a soft spot in a cozy winter junal journal page, tucked near a folded quilt square or a strip of flannel fabric. Readers building out a full winter spread might enjoy browsing the winter coloring pages for extra filler art around her.
Eyes huge and grin stretched wide, a boy in a reindeer sweater holds up a pair of wooden skis almost taller than he is, bursting to try them out.
Hands on her hips and chin lifted high, a girl in a red coat and matching boots shows off a lopsided little snowman she built herself, clearly thrilled with the result.
Stand her beside the carrot nose boy for a pair that tells one small story across two cards. She also makes a charming center for a gift tag reading something like job well done, written along the curve of her coat hem.
Bottom lip stuck out and eyebrows pinched together, a boy with rosy cheeks in a long scarf dabs a hanky to his nose, the smallest and most relatable complaint of the whole snowy day.
Shoulders shaking with laughter, a girl in a pixie hood holds up a long icicle like a wand, clearly delighted with the odd little treasure she found under the eaves.
For a five minute version, skip cutting around every finger and simplify her mittens into two soft rounded shapes. She still reads perfectly as a giggling girl with an icicle, which is really all the card needs.
Eyes wide and mouth in a perfect round O, a boy in a padded snowsuit holds up a thin sheet of ice to peer through it like a window onto the yard.
One eyebrow raised and hip cocked to the side, a girl in a fur trimmed coat holds a snowflake shaped cookie just out of reach, giving off pure sassy older-sister energy.
She pairs well with the cocoa mug girl for a two-doll treat scene on a Christmas card panel, one holding the drink and one holding the snack. Anyone building out a winter dessert theme might also like the easy Christmas drawing ideas for a matching background sketch.
Grinning ear to ear with a snowball packed tight in each mitten, a boy in a knit balaclava looks fully ready to start a snowball fight the moment the card opens.
Smiling softly with her head tilted toward the feeder, a girl in a quilted winter coat holds up a small wooden bird feeder she filled herself, clearly pleased to help the birds through the cold.
She closes the set nicely on a card about kindness or a thank you note for a grandmother who feeds the birds all winter. Mounted on a craft stick, she stands just tall enough to peek over a row of pinecones glued along the bottom of a journal page.
What to Do Next
Print the whole set on one afternoon, keep the cutouts in a labeled envelope by season, and pull out one chubby-cheeked winter kid any time a card or a journal page needs a little mischief.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for these 3d paper dolls?
Matte cardstock between 65 and 110 lb gives the cleanest result for standing dolls. It holds its shape under scoring and folding, and the matte finish keeps colors true without any glare for photos.
What printer settings give the sharpest cutout lines?
Choose actual size or 100 percent scale, never fit to page, so every doll prints at the size it was designed. Select the highest photo or best quality setting available so the fine outlines stay crisp when you cut close to the edge.
How do you cut out small details like mittens and scarves?
Small detail scissors or a craft knife on a cutting mat handle narrow gaps like scarf fringe and mitten strings best. Cut the big outer shape first, then come back for inner notches so the cardstock stays supported while you work.
How do you make a paper doll stand up on a card?
Fold a small tab at the back of the feet and glue it flat against the card panel so the doll leans slightly forward. A short length of craft stick glued behind the shoulders also works well for a doll you want to pop above the fold.
How do you get a 3D pop instead of a flat glued doll?
Foam adhesive dots raised between the doll and the card base create the lift. Place two or three dots behind the head, chest and lower coat so the figure sits slightly off the page and catches a small shadow.
