Table of Contents
This beach diorama set gathers eighteen little seaside rooms made for summer birthday cards and holiday journals: seashell cottages, beach huts, rowing boats and sweet shops, each one opened like a tiny stage with gulls, piers, sailboats or sunsets waiting behind. Every sheet holds a different object and a different small story, so you can pick one for a quick card or work through the whole set for a themed journal spread.
Print the sheets on matte cardstock at actual size, then cut around each shape leaving a thin white edge so the scene reads clearly against kraft, cream or patterned card. Glue flat for a simple finish, or raise the inner scene on foam dots for a bit of lift under the lamp light.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Shells And Rock Pools
Sorting shells into jars on a driftwood shelf, the young woman inside this cottage keeps gulls wheeling over the waves through the window behind her, a sweet opener for a seaside birthday card.
Give it a kraft card base with a scalloped white mat, then tuck a strip of narrow lace along the bottom edge to echo the sea foam in the scene.
Paddling in rock pools with a little net, the elderly woman in this starfish-shaped grotto works while a sunset sea glows through the far opening behind her.
Listening to a gramophone by an open window, an elderly woman settles into this conch shell room while moonlight lays a silver path across the sea behind her, a gentle pick for a quiet keepsake card or the last page of a miniature diorama journal spread.
A soft grey or navy card base lets the moonlight glow stand out, with a small round mat behind the cut-out shape for extra lift.
Sand And Sunshine
Building a sandcastle with her small dog beside her, the elderly woman inside this upturned sand bucket works with a long pier stretching into the sea behind.
Napping with a straw hat tipped over her face, the elderly woman in this striped deckchair room rests while donkeys amble along the sand behind her.
Waxing a board with her dog stretched out beside her, the young woman in this surfboard shack gets ready while big waves roll in behind the open doorway.
This pairs neatly with the lifeguard tower scene from this set for a matching set of cards for a surf-loving granddaughter, one beach day story split across two fronts.
Beach Huts And Stalls
Pouring lemonade under a string of bunting flags, the young woman in this beach hut works with a stretch of blue sea glowing behind her, a cheerful choice for a summer thank-you card.
Selling ice cream cones from under a striped umbrella, the young woman in this little stall keeps the promenade busy with strollers behind her.
Pulling pink rock candy by hand behind the counter, the elderly woman in this sweet shop works a warm summer trade with a pier and carousel turning in the distance behind her.
Print two copies of this one and cut the candy counter from the second to raise on foam dots, the kind of trick that works just as well on any 1950s diner diorama card front.
Harbour And Boats
Sharing fish and chips from paper wrapping, the elderly couple seated in this little rowing boat enjoy their evening while a harbor town glows with lit windows behind them.
Mending nets by lamplight, the elderly fisherwoman inside this lobster pot cottage works steadily while fishing boats bob at anchor behind her, a fitting companion to the rowing boat scene in this set for a matched pair of cards.
Writing a letter at a driftwood desk inside this tall glass bottle, the young woman pauses with pen in hand while a far island sits quiet on the horizon behind her.
On The Water
Watching the waves through a pair of binoculars, the young woman stationed in this lifeguard tower keeps an eye on surfers paddling out behind her.
Dancing together under the bandstand roof, the young couple in this scene turn slowly while fireworks bloom over the bay behind them, a lovely pick for a summer anniversary card.
A soft navy card base lets the firework colours pop, with the bandstand cut-out raised on foam dots for a small shadow of lift.
Reading together in wicker chairs beneath striped canvas, the elderly couple in this cabana share a quiet afternoon with tall palm trees swaying behind them.
Cliffs And High Views
Pouring tea on a striped blanket spread beside an open wicker hamper, the elderly woman settles in for an afternoon with pale chalk cliffs rising behind her.
Serving scones to sandy-footed walkers at little tables, the young woman running this shell-shaped tea room keeps busy with a green headland rolling behind her, a scene that would suit a lavender painting journal page just as well as a card front.
Painting the seaside in watercolor beneath the wide brim of a straw sun hat turned into a little room, the young woman works at her easel with sailboats drifting behind her.
Leave the painted canvas on her easel blank on one print, then add a few dots of real watercolor by hand for a small personal touch before gluing the piece down, much like a page from any watercolor landscape tutorial spread.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a beach diorama set like this one?
Matte cardstock works best, since it holds fine linework without glare under craft lights. Choose a weight sturdy enough to cut cleanly but still easy to fold around foam dots.
How do I make a beach diorama look three-dimensional on a card?
Print the sheet twice, then cut the inner scene from the second copy and raise it on foam dots over the first. This lifts the heroine and her props forward while the background sits flat behind.
What size card base suits these beach dioramas?
A5 folded to A6, or a standard 4×6 inch card base, suits most of these shapes comfortably. Leave a small white or kraft mat around the cut-out so the scene has room to breathe.
Can I use these beach diorama sheets in a junk journal instead of a card?
Yes, these work well as standalone journal pages or as pocket inserts behind a flap. Group a few by theme, such as the harbour boats or the sand and sunshine scenes, for a cohesive spread.
What printer settings give the sharpest cut-out edges?
Print at actual size with no scaling and select the highest quality or photo setting your printer offers. This keeps the fine outlines crisp enough to cut a clean thin white edge around each shape.
