Birthday gift tags printable sheets are the fastest way to finish a handmade present without reaching for a plain sticky label. This set gives you 17 sheets full of layer cakes, balloons, sweets and party things, each tag shaped a little differently and finished with a border and a short birthday greeting.
Print the sheets on sticker paper if you want to peel and stick straight onto wrapping paper or jars, or use matte paper and a glue stick for a sturdier tag you punch and tie. Either way, print at actual size and leave a thin white edge around each shape when you cut, so the border stays crisp.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Cakes and Candles
Starting the set off is a scalloped tag with a tall slice of layer cake, a round tag with three floating balloons and a luggage tag with a striped party hat, each one carrying a short birthday greeting inside its border.
These three work well together on one parcel: the cake slice on top, the balloon tag tucked into a ribbon loop, and the party hat luggage tag threaded through as the main label. Pair this sheet with the confetti and gift box tags below for a coworker’s birthday box that feels put together without much extra effort.
An oval tag with a single cupcake topped with one candle, a round tag scattered with confetti, a ticket label with a wrapped gift box and a square tag with a spinning pinwheel round out this cheerful foursome of small party labels.
Party Favourites
Sparklers, pennants and a scoop of ice cream carry the party feeling forward: a star tag with two lit sparklers, a round tag holding a scoop of strawberry ice cream and a rectangular label strung with a garland of pennant flags.
If you enjoy drawing your own cards between printing sessions, the happy birthday drawing ideas sheet pairs nicely with this one for matching party doodles on the envelope. Use the pennant label as a long strip across a wide box rather than tucked under a bow.
A luggage tag with a tall tiered cake, a round tag holding a jar of mixed candy, an arched tag with a party horn mid-blow and a scalloped label with a sprinkle-covered donut give you four bigger centrepiece motifs for the birthday person’s main gift.
Flowers and Teatime
Softer and a little more grown up, this trio suits a friend’s birthday tea: a round tag with a bunch of tulips, a luggage tag with a teapot and matching cup and an oval tag with a stacked tower of macarons.
Cut the oval macaron tag with care around the stacked edges, a small craft knife helps keep the curves clean where scissors tend to round them off. These three sit well alongside the peonies and lavender gift tags for a soft floral birthday set.
A cloud-shaped tag with a floating hot air balloon, a round tag with a swirled lollipop, a square tag with three striped birthday candles and a ticket label with a popcorn box bring a playful lift to a child’s or grandchild’s birthday parcel.
Little Luxuries
For the friend who likes a touch of fuss, this set leans sweeter: a scalloped tag with a cherry sitting on a swirl of whipped cream, a round tag with a small jewelled crown and a luggage tag with a wrapped pink present.
Stick the crown tag to the top of a cosmetics gift or a jewellery box, it reads as a small joke without needing any extra wording. The whipped cream tag suits a tag tied to a dessert box just as well as a wrapped gift.
A round tag with a fruit tart, a rectangular label strung with fairy lights, an oval tag showing a tiered cake stand and a square tag with a tall glass of lemonade finish this quieter, café-style corner of the set.
Soft and Sweet
A heart-shaped tag with a piped frosting swirl, a round tag with a balloon twisted into a dog and a scalloped tag with an open jar of sprinkles bring a softer, nursery-friendly feel to the sheet.
This trio reads well for a young child’s birthday, the balloon dog especially. Keep the frosting swirl tag for the top of a cupcake box rather than a flat parcel, the heart shape sits nicely peeking out of cellophane.
A luggage tag with a full vase of peonies, a round tag with a small box of chocolates and an arched tag strung with paper lanterns round out the softer side of the set for a grandmother or close friend.
Playful and Bright
A star tag with a gold star-shaped balloon, a round tag with a teddy bear, a ticket label with a strawberry milkshake and a square tag with a flying kite make a bright, playful group for a child’s or teenager’s gift.
Print this sheet on sticker paper so the kite and the milkshake tag can go straight onto a flat gift without any punching. If you are building a themed card to go alongside, the watercolor birthday card ideas share a similarly cheerful palette.
A round tag with a juicy watermelon slice, a luggage tag with a packed picnic basket and an oval tag with a tiered cupcake tower suit a summer birthday gift, a picnic invitation, or a card tucked into a basket of treats.
Retro Party
A scalloped tag with a gingham-wrapped present, a round tag with a glittering disco ball and a rectangular label with a small record player bring a retro party mood for a milestone birthday or a dance-themed gathering.
The five-minute version: cut only the disco ball tag, punch one hole and tie it straight onto a bottle neck. Save the other two for a bigger wrapped box later in the week.
A round tag with a gumball machine, a luggage tag with a pink bicycle carrying a basket, an oval tag with a chocolate chip cookie and a square tag topped with a cake topper star fill out this nostalgic corner of the set.
Garden Party
A cloud-shaped tag with an arched rainbow, a round tag with a slice of cherry pie and a scalloped tag with a cake decorated like a butterfly bring a gentle garden-party feeling to the set, well suited to a spring birthday.
These three pair naturally with floral journal pages, so if you keep a nature-themed junk journal the wildflower watercolor templates make a good companion sheet for the inside pages.
A luggage tag with a filled champagne glass, a round tag with a single open rose and an oval tag with an iced bundt cake suit a milestone adult birthday where the gift leans a little more elegant than playful.
Closing the set is a round tag with a puppy holding a small gift, a ticket label with a cotton candy cone, an arched tag with a painted carousel horse and a square tag with an ice cream sandwich, a fairground-themed finish for a lively birthday gift.
This sheet suits a grandchild’s gift especially well. Print it on sticker paper for party favour bags, or on plain paper and glue each tag to a small kraft box for a matching set across several gifts at once.
What to Do Next
Pick the sheets that match the birthdays on your list this month, print them on sticker paper or plain paper, and keep the rest ready in a folder for the next gift that needs a quick, pretty finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for printable birthday gift tags?
Printable sticker paper works best if you want to peel and stick the tags directly onto boxes or jars. Matte white cardstock suits tags you plan to punch a hole in and tie on with ribbon, since it holds up better under handling.
What printer settings should I use for these tags?
Set the printer to actual size or 100 percent, never fit to page, so the tags print at the intended size. Choose the best or photo quality setting if your printer has one, which keeps the thin outlines sharp.
How do I cut out the tags neatly?
Cut around each tag leaving a thin white border rather than trimming right along the ink line, which protects the edge from fraying. A small craft knife helps on tight inner curves like the macaron stack or the disco ball.
Can I use these tags on wrapped gifts and in journals?
Yes, the tags work equally well punched and tied onto wrapped gifts or trimmed and glued flat into a card or journal spread. The flat label shapes, like the ticket and rectangular tags, sit especially well on journal pages.
Do I need to write a name on the tags?
No, each tag already carries a short birthday greeting, so there is no blank space left for names. If you want to personalise one, write the name small in the corner or just below the printed greeting.
