Table of Contents
This set of winter coloring pages gives kids eighteen different snow scenes to fill in, from a polar bear cub sliding on ice to a penguin family gliding across a frozen pond on skates. There are no Christmas trees and no movie characters here, just plain winter fun that works from the first snowfall through the last cold week of February.
Print each page on plain white paper or light cardstock for sturdier results, and set the printer to its best quality so the thick black outlines come out crisp. Trim away the thin white border around each sheet before it goes on the wall, into a folder, or home on the fridge.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Arctic Animals
Suits beginners who love animals and want a big, simple shape to fill in fast, since the cub covers most of the sheet with only a few ice cracks around it.
Washable markers glide smoothly over the thick black outlines, and chunky crayons work just as well when little hands get tired.
Start with the three penguin bodies, keeping the black and white patches crisp, then move out to the ice and sky so the color stays inside the biggest shapes first.
Leave small patches of white paper bare on the seal’s belly to suggest shine on wet fur, instead of coloring the whole shape one flat gray.
Trim this page along the outer edge once the color dries, and it turns into a sturdy bookmark for a winter reading list.
Punch a hole near the top corner and loop through a ribbon, and the fox becomes a window ornament that catches the light from outside.
Pair this owl with the pine trees page further down the set, and the two sheets make a matching woodland scene for a bedroom wall.
Winter Play
The common mistake here is coloring the snow fort pure white and leaving it blank, which makes the whole sheet look unfinished once it is framed.
Add pale blue or gray shading only in the shadow lines of the fort instead, and the white snow around it will still read as bright and fresh.
For a quick ten-minute version, color only the two children’s coats and hats and leave the snowballs and background paper white.
Ask the child coloring this page what color sled she would pick for herself, and let that answer guide the whole sheet.
Questions like this keep young colorists talking while their hands stay busy, and the sled becomes the one part of the page that is entirely their own choice.
Suits younger children best, since the snow angel shape is large and open with hardly any small details to stay inside.
Snow Friends
Fat triangle crayons or chunky markers both work well on the wide snowman bodies, since there is no fine detail to navigate around.
Start with the scarves and hats in bright colors, then leave the snowman bodies themselves white or very pale blue so they still read as snow.
Color only the carrot nose, buttons and scarf in bright color and leave the snowman’s round body white, so the snow shape stands out clearly.
Glue this page onto a paper towel tube once it is colored, and the snow fort wraps into a small freestanding scene for a shelf.
Add a paper flag on a toothpick through the top for extra height, and the whole scene stands on its own. Parents who enjoy quick seasonal projects might also like Color Pencil Drawing Ideas Creative: 12 Cozy Beginner Projects.
Pair these mittens with the snowman family page, since both sheets share the same bright winter colors and make a tidy matching set on the wall.
Winter Nature
The usual mistake with a snowflake page is rushing the six points and leaving some thinner than others, which throws off the whole pattern.
Turn the paper as the pencil moves instead of twisting the wrist, and each point of the snowflake will come out even and the same length as the rest.
For a ten-minute version, color just the trunks and leave the tree tops and snowy ground white, letting the black outlines do the rest of the work.
Ask what sound a cardinal might make while sitting in the cold, and let the child hum or whistle while coloring its bright red feathers.

Cozy Winter
Suits kids who want a fast, cozy finish, since the mug and marshmallows fill most of the page in just a handful of large shapes.
Chunky colored pencils work best on the igloo blocks, since the curved lines between them need a steadier hand than markers allow.
Start with the child’s snowsuit in a bold color, then fill the igloo blocks with pale blue or gray, leaving white paper for the snow underneath. For a grown-up project in the same mood, try Winter Oil Painting: 24 Cozy Ideas Every Beginner Will Love.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for these winter coloring pages?
Plain printer paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils, but light cardstock, around 90 to 110 lb, holds up better to markers and glue without the ink bleeding through to the table underneath.
What printer settings give the best results?
Choose the best or highest quality print setting rather than draft mode, so the thick black outlines print solid instead of streaky. Black and white or grayscale ink saves on color cartridges, since every page in this set is already black line art on white.
What age group are these pages right for?
Most pages suit ages four through nine, since the shapes are large and the details are kept to a minimum. Younger children can stick to simple scenes like the snow angel, while older kids can add extra detail to busier pages like the snow fort.
What should kids color with?
Washable markers, crayons, and colored pencils all work well on these bold outlines. Markers give the brightest, most solid color fast, while crayons and colored pencils let younger children stay inside the thick lines more easily.
Can these pages be glued or turned into something else?
Several pages in this set work well as bookmarks, ornaments, or small glued scenes once they are colored and trimmed. A glue stick and a pair of child-safe scissors are enough for most of these simple projects.
