The anne of green gables junk journal kit gathers Prince Edward Island into one printable set, seen the way Anne herself would have painted it, all romance and puffed sleeves and apple blossom lanes. Twenty two scene pages carry the farmhouse, the lake, the schoolroom and the orchard roads, five seamless backgrounds give you gingham, blossoms and ticking stripe to build covers and pockets, and five lined pages wait for your own Avonlea entries.
Print everything on a heavyweight matte paper, something close to cardstock, so paint and glue do not warp the sheet. Set your printer to its best or photo quality for true colour, then trim each page to the size of your journal before you start gluing it in.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Green Gables and the Orchard Road
Green shutters, a white gabled roof and a porch half hidden by orchard trees open the whole set, the farmhouse standing the way Anne first saw it from the buggy seat.
Pair this page with the apple blossom border lined page further on and let the dress sit across from your own wish list for a dress you would love to own, puffed sleeves and all.
Glue in a pressed flower or a small ticket stub along the lower edge of this one, tucked under the blossoms as if it fell from the buggy seat on the ride into Avonlea.
A rowboat rests on the water, reeds and lily pads at the edge, and the whole lake catches the kind of light that earned it its name.
Kitchen and Orchard Treats
The usual mistake with this page is leaving the glasses too small to notice beside the bottle, so paint or print them generously, close to the bottle, so the whole little scene reads at a glance.
Add a folded paper napkin or a recipe card tucked beside the glasses if you like a page that holds something extra.
Write a line about a mistake you are glad you made, right across this page, the way a cracked slate once marked a whole afternoon of trouble.
Mayflowers tied with a thin ribbon sit at the centre of this page, with a few fallen blossoms scattered around the stems.
The Lake and the Log Bridge
For a five minute version of this page, paint just the bridge and the water and leave the figures as two small pencil shapes, enough to suggest company without needing detail.
This page suits a friend who always laughs at her own kitchen disasters, since the cake leans a little and nobody minds one bit.
Place this page across from the Lake of Shining Waters page and let the two waters, lake and sea, sit as neighbours in your spread, calm water on one side and open coast on the other.
A narrow bed, a small mirror and a window framed by a blooming cherry tree make this the quietest page in the set, so leave the writing on it soft too.
Picnics and Garden Days
Tuck a folded programme or a small paper fan into the corner of this page, something a girl might have carried to a church picnic on a warm afternoon.
The flat boat drifts low in the water, surrounded by white lilies, in a scene that asks for nothing more than a quiet caption underneath.
A small purple brooch rests on a round pincushion, with a thimble and a spool of thread placed close beside it as if just set down.
Who is this page for in a gift journal: give it to the friend who always wants the ghost story told twice, since the trees here lean in close and the path disappears into shadow just enough to feel like a dare.
School Days and Garden Rows
Try a window cut into this page, with a second small schoolroom scene glued behind it, so lifting the shutter reveals the desks and blackboard inside.
Rows of sweet peas climb a low trellis here, with a watering can and a pair of garden gloves left at the edge of the bed.
A question for the entry written here: what would you study for, if marks meant nothing at all but the subject still pulled at you.
Pair this page with the apple blossom repeat pattern background further in the set, using the pattern as a pocket lining behind the jug for a page with real depth.
Roads, Porches and Evening Light
An old farmer stands beside his horse at the edge of a ploughed field, a worn hat on his head and a fence line running off toward the trees.
Two rocking chairs face the fields on a quiet porch, a shawl left over one armrest and the evening light settling warm across the boards.
Place this final scene page beside the lupine corner lined page later in the set and let the two lupine borders echo each other across the spread.
Background Papers
Red and white gingham checks run corner to corner on this background, ready to sit under a photo of your own garden table, line a small pocket, or back a kitchen themed cover.
Scattered apple blossoms and small leaves cover this sheet from corner to corner, suited to a photo mat, a pocket lining behind the jug page, or the inside of a journal cover.
Lupine spikes and small daisies alternate across this background, good under a road photo, as a pocket lining, or wrapped around a cover for the whole journal.
Small cherries and leaf pairs repeat in soft rows here, a gentle choice for a photo backing, a pocket lining, or the underside of the gabled bedroom page.
Narrow green and red stripes run the length of this sheet, useful under a farmhouse photo, as a pocket lining, or as the plain cover stock for the whole set.
Lined Writing Pages
Apple blossom sprays trail along the top edge of this page, with ruled lines left clear underneath for a dress wish list, an orchard memory, or a letter to next spring.
Lupine stalks rise from one corner of this page, leaving the ruled lines free for a road trip note, a list of flowers you want to grow, or a letter to next year.
A full frame of wild roses runs around the edge of this page, with the centre left clear for a gift list, a garden menu, or a few lines about a favourite chapter.
A single mayflower spray runs down one side of this page, the ruled lines beside it ready for a spring walk note, a recipe, or a letter to a childhood friend.
A daisy chain wraps the bottom edge of this closing page, leaving the lined centre open for a summer memory, a picnic menu, or a short letter to your own imagination.
What to Do Next
Print the set, trim the pages to your journal’s size, and start with the Green Gables farmhouse at the front so the whole book opens the way the story does, with the house waiting at the end of the lane.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for this printable kit?
Heavyweight matte cardstock around 65 to 100 lb works best for this kit. It holds ink and glue without warping, and the matte finish keeps the watercolour look soft rather than shiny.
What printer settings give the truest colour?
Set your printer to its best or photo quality setting for the truest colour. Choose the matte or cardstock paper type in the print dialog if your printer offers it, since this slows the ink down for richer tone.
What size should I print the pages at?
Print at standard letter or A4 size and trim down to your journal’s measurements afterward. Trimming after printing gives you cleaner edges than printing at a small custom size directly.
Can I colour or add to these pages by hand?
Yes, these pages print in full colour already but take coloured pencil, watercolour pencil or soft pastel touches well on top. A light hand with extra colour keeps the aged look intact.
What glue or adhesive should I use to assemble the journal?
A standard acid free glue stick works well for gluing full pages into a journal base. Use a thin double sided tape for smaller elements like tucked tickets or pressed flowers so the page stays flat.
