This set of cat paper dolls free printable download gives you twenty three cats standing on two feet, each dressed for a job, a hobby or a very particular mood. There is a chef cat with cupcakes, a ballet cat on tiptoe, a grumpy Persian in pearls and a kitten so tangled in yarn she has given up on the whole idea of sweaters. Use them on handmade cards, gift tags and junk journal pages for anyone who loves cats more than is strictly reasonable.
Print on matte cardstock at actual size, then cut each doll out with a thin white edge left around the line. That edge keeps the colour from looking cut off and gives the shape a little breathing room on the page.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
In the Kitchen
Gingham apron on, a ginger tabby holds up a whole fish pie like she baked it for the county fair, which is more or less the energy to match on a card for the friend who always brings the best dish to a potluck.
Glue her onto a kraft card front with a strip of real gingham ribbon underneath for a border that keeps going past the edge.
Proud and puffed up in a tall chef’s hat, this ginger cat carries a tray of iced cupcakes like he has just won a blue ribbon, which makes him a natural for a birthday card or a bakery themed junk journal spread.
Yawning so hard his eyes are nearly shut, this fat orange cat in striped pajamas clutches a steaming mug of milk, perfect for a cozy bedtime card or the last page of a sleepy themed journal spread.
Sewing And Yarn Mishaps
Grumpy does not begin to cover it: a gray cat stands wrapped head to paw in loose knitted yarn, half in and half out of a sweater that clearly won the fight.
She is the one to pull out when a card needs a laugh rather than a compliment, maybe for a friend whose latest knitting project also got the better of her. Pair her with the knitting basket calico from this same set for a card about craft projects gone sideways.
A tabby kitten in denim overalls looks thoroughly pleased with the mischief she has made, holding a ball of wool she has clearly just unraveled across the floor on purpose.
Head tipped back mid laugh, a calico cat in a quilted jacket carries a basket piled with knitting, needles poking out every which way, as if the joke was the tangled mess inside it.
She works nicely as the anchor of a quilting or craft room junk journal spread, tucked beside fabric scraps and a scrap of real gingham. Readers who love a good fabric sale story will also enjoy the sewing circle set in 23 Free Printable Paper Dolls of Funny Quilting Ladies, Fabric Lovers and Midnight Sewers.
Eyes half closed and dreamy, a cream point cat in a paint spattered smock holds a single paintbrush as though lost in thought about the next brushstroke rather than actually making one.
Dress Up And Playtime
Standing proudly up on the very tips of her toes, a white cat in a pink tutu looks utterly sure of herself, arms curved overhead like she has just stuck the landing.
Mount her on a foam dot so she lifts slightly off the card front, which suits the pose nicely since she is meant to look like she is barely touching the ground at all.
Chin up and eyes half lidded with full sass, a black cat struts along in a striped scarf, a little handbag swinging from one paw as though she owns the sidewalk she is standing on.
Sleepy eyed and soft, a calico cat in a floral dress carries her own little pillow tucked under one arm, clearly ready to nap the moment anyone stops talking to her.
She is a gentle choice for a get well card or for the quiet page of a junk journal between busier spreads, maybe next to the painter cat from this set for a slow afternoon theme.
Giggling so hard her eyes have gone to crescents, a black kitten in a polka dot dress holds a balloon on a string like the happiest thing that has ever happened to her.
Parlour Manners
Smug does not even cover the look on this tuxedo cat’s face as he holds a teacup with one paw raised, pinky out, waistcoat buttoned to the very top.
Set him beside the pearl wearing Persian from this same set for a tea party card, two cats both utterly convinced of their own good manners.
A fluffy Persian wearing a string of pearls holds a tiny comb at arm’s length as though someone has just suggested her fur needs it, nose in the air and thoroughly offended.
Peering over a pair of small glasses, a tortoiseshell cat in a cardigan looks genuinely puzzled by whatever page of her open book she has just reached, paw still marking the spot.
She fits naturally into a book club card or a reading corner junk journal page, and pairs well with a quote about getting lost in a good story written in loopy cursive beside her.
Little Jobs And Adventures
Gentle and attentive, a white cat in a small nurse’s cap holds out a little bandage with both paws, the sort of caring expression that suits a get well soon card perfectly.
Proud of a job well done, a ginger cat in a mail carrier’s uniform holds a wrapped parcel out with both paws as though this delivery is the most important one of the whole week.
He suits a thinking of you card sent along with an actual small gift, or a page about letters and parcels in a vintage style journal. For more mail themed and vintage advertising mascots, the children in 24 Free Printable Cute Paper Dolls of Retro Kids With Lollipops, Toy Sailboats and Puppy Kisses work nicely alongside him.
Thoroughly unhappy about the weather, a gray kitten in a yellow raincoat holds a dripping umbrella at an angle, bottom lip stuck out in the kind of pout only a rained on cat can manage.
Eyes wide and mouth in a small amazed o shape, a tabby in a garden smock holds a pot of catnip like it has just performed a magic trick in front of her.
She fits a gardening card for a friend who grows everything on a windowsill, and she sits well next to a strawberry basket page for a garden themed journal spread.
Caught completely off guard, a Siamese cat in a striped sailor top stares wide eyed at a little toy boat held out in both paws, as though it just appeared out of nowhere.
Delighted and sun warmed, a silver tabby in a wide brimmed sun hat carries a basket piled with ripe strawberries, the kind of doll that turns any card into a small summer afternoon.
Tuck her onto a gift tag for a jam jar or a basket of homegrown produce, since she already looks like she is on her way to deliver exactly that.
Chin forward and chest out, a kitten in a tiny cape holds up a feather wand like a sword, utterly convinced this is a serious and important battle.
Shocked and visibly shivering, a striped kitten in a small swimsuit clutches a beach ball like the water was several degrees colder than promised.
She brings a bit of comedy to a summer card, especially paired with the sun hat tabby from this same set for a beach day theme that does not take itself too seriously. The 18 Free Printable Winter Paper Dolls of Cute Animals With Cocoa Mugs, Ice Skates and Tiny Sleds make a funny opposite season pairing on a journal spread about hot and cold.
Leaning on a wooden walking cane with an unmistakably grumpy expression, a Maine Coon in a tweed coat looks like he has strong opinions about absolutely everyone walking past.
What to Do Next
Pick two or three cats that suit the card or page in front of you, print them at actual size on matte cardstock, and start cutting: the whole set is small enough to keep in a folder for whenever the next birthday or thank you card comes up.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for cat paper dolls free printable sheets?
Matte cardstock in the 65 to 110 lb range works best, since it holds colour well and cuts cleanly without curling. Avoid glossy photo paper, which makes the pencil or scissor lines harder to see.
What printer settings give the best colours?
Select actual size or 100 percent scale, never fit to page, and choose the best photo or high quality setting on your printer. Fit to page can shrink or stretch a doll just enough to throw off the proportions.
How do you cut out small details like paws and ears cleanly?
Cut the big outer shape first with regular scissors, then switch to small detail scissors or a craft knife for tight inner curves like ears and paws. Turn the paper rather than the blade for smoother curves.
How can you make a cat paper doll stand up on a shelf or journal page?
Fold a small cardstock strip into a triangle and glue it to the back of the doll as a simple easel stand. For a junk journal page, a glue stick laid flat works better than a stand.
How do you add a 3D pop to these dolls on a card?
Raise the doll off the card front with a few foam adhesive dots placed under the head, paws and any held object. This gives a light shadow and a small lift that reads well in photos too.
