Table of Contents
This tuscany junk journal kit gathers the whole feel of a long golden afternoon into twenty-seven pages you can print at home. Inside are nineteen full scene pages of vineyards, olive groves, hilltop villages and market stalls, four seamless background papers for covers and pockets, and four lined writing pages dressed with olive branches, grapevines and sunflowers.
Print on matte cardstock, around 180 to 250 gsm, so the colour stays crisp and the paper can still be folded or torn without falling apart. Set your printer to its best or photo quality setting, let the ink dry for a minute before handling, and trim each sheet to your journal size before you start gluing.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Roads And Villages
A row of slender cypress trees lines a dusty road that climbs toward a pale stone villa, with golden fields and a soft blue sky filling the rest of the page.
Pick this one for the page where you tuck a small tasting note or a pressed grape leaf, since the basket of purple grapes leaves just enough room at the edge for a tucked scrap.
Rows of vines stretch behind the baskets, heavy with fruit, and a worn sun hat rests on a low stone wall nearby. The whole scene sits under a warm afternoon sky that carries the eye from the grapes to the hills beyond.
Pair this page with the olive branch pattern paper later in the set, laying a strip of the pattern along the bottom edge as a simple border before you glue the scene down.
A wooden ladder leans against a gnarled olive tree, with woven baskets of olives gathered at its base. Silvery leaves and a soft green grove stretch out behind, catching the low afternoon light.
Set on a stone terrace, this spread of bread, olives, cheese and a carafe of wine invites a tucked-in napkin scrap or a handwritten menu card beside the painted plates.
Terracotta roofs cluster around a stone bell tower, catching the afternoon sun while the surrounding hills fade into a hazy blue in the distance.
The usual mistake with a market page like this is crowding every inch with produce until nothing reads clearly, so leave the crate of tomatoes as the clear centre and let the basil and peppers sit a little looser around it.
A wooden stall holds heaped tomatoes, bright peppers and bunches of basil tied with string, with a striped awning shading the scene above.
Roads And Villages
This one suits a journal made for a grandmother or an aunt who gardens, since the pots of red geraniums under green shutters feel like a small tribute to a window she tends herself.
Write a quick line underneath about the ride you wish you had taken, parking the little blue scooter against the warm stone archway as if it is waiting for you to climb back on.
Rolling sunflower fields stretch toward a distant farmhouse, with a line of cypress trees marking the edge of the land against a wide summer sky.
Kitchen And Terrace Pages
For the five minute version, skip the full counter and just colour the hanging garlic braid and the copper pots, letting the rest of the kitchen stay a soft wash of warm cream and shadow.
Strings of garlic and lemons hang above a worktop crowded with copper pots and a wooden spoon, with a tiled wall glowing warm in the afternoon light.
Figs spill from a shallow bowl beside a glass bottle of olive oil, set on a worn stone ledge with a soft wash of garden green behind them.
A stone fountain trickles in a small piazza, pigeons gathered at its base and pots of flowers lining the worn paving stones around it.
Try pairing this page across a spread with the vineyard harvest page, letting the straw hat on its chair look out over the same rolling hills the grape baskets sit beside.
Kitchen And Terrace Pages
A question worth writing under this one: who would you most want to seat at this long table, grapevines climbing thick overhead to shade every chair set along it?
An olive branch rests in a simple ceramic pitcher on a sunlit windowsill, rolling countryside visible through the open shutters behind it.
Give this page to a reader who loves a slower kind of travel story, since the donkey plodding along the dusty path with its baskets of grapes sets a gentle, unhurried pace for the whole spread.
Flour, cracked eggs and a wooden rolling pin cover a worn table, with sheets of fresh pasta drying over the edge of a simple rack.
Market And Piazza Pages
A stone well sits at the centre of a quiet villa courtyard, lemon trees in terracotta pots arranged around its worn rim.
For a five minute version of this page, colour only the picnic cloth, the bread and the cheese, and leave the poppy field as a loose wash of red and green behind it.
A simple picnic of bread and cheese spreads across a cloth set among wild poppies, with rolling hills stretching out toward the horizon beyond.
Background Papers
Olive branches scatter in an all-over pattern across soft cream paper, perfect as a lining for a pocket, a backing for a market photo, or a journal cover in its own right.
Clusters of grapes and curling vine leaves repeat edge to edge, a natural match behind a harvest photo, inside a recipe pocket, or wrapped around a cover.
Rows of tiny cypress trees and soft rolling hills tile across the page, ideal under a landscape photo, as a pocket lining, or folded into a simple cover.
A repeating majolica tile motif covers the page corner to corner, suited to a cover wrap, a pocket lining, or a backing sheet behind a village photo.
Lined Writing Pages
Faint ruled lines sit inside a border of olive branches, ready for a grocery list from the market, a recipe for pasta sauce, or a letter to next year’s harvest.
A frame of curling grapevines surrounds faint ruled lines, suited to a wine tasting note, a packing list for a trip, or a short reflection on the day’s harvest.
A small corner sketch of cypress trees and a stone villa anchors the page, leaving faint ruled lines open for a travel log, a guest list, or a letter to a future self.
A garland of sunflowers runs along one side of the page, leaving faint ruled lines open for a summer memory, a flower market list, or a note to tuck into a gift journal.
What to Do Next
Print the pages, trim them to size, and start layering the scenes, patterns and lined sheets into your journal in whatever order feels right. For more sunlit routes to travel on paper, the Italy junk journal and Greece painting collections pair well on a shared shelf.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a Tuscany junk journal kit?
Matte cardstock between 180 and 250 gsm works best. It holds the warm colours crisply, folds cleanly for pockets, and still tears nicely along an edge if you want a softer, aged look on a page.
What printer settings give the best colour?
Use your printer’s best or photo quality setting on plain or matte paper mode. This keeps the terracotta, olive and straw tones true, and avoids the washed-out look that draft settings can give watercolour pages.
What size should I print the pages?
Print at full US letter or A4 size first, then trim each page down to match your journal’s dimensions. Trimming after printing keeps every border and pattern lined up evenly on the page.
Can I colour over these pages myself?
Yes, you can add light coloured pencil or watercolour touches over the printed pages for extra texture. Keep any added colour light, since the printed palette is already finished and balanced on its own.
What do I use to glue the pages into a journal?
An acid free glue stick works well for flat pages and keeps the paper from wrinkling. For pockets or folded elements, a small amount of liquid craft glue along the edges holds better over time.
