Table of Contents
This grandma junk journal kit gathers the whole warm world of her house onto one sheet set: the pie on the windowsill, the sewing basket by the rocking chair, the rose tea set on a lace cloth and the garden full of zinnias and peonies. Print the pages, cut them to size and start gluing a book that smells like Sunday dinner before you even open the cover.
Inside you get 23 full scene pages, 5 seamless background papers for linings and covers, and 5 lined writing pages for the memories themselves. Print on matte cardstock (around 65 to 90 lb holds up to glue without curling), use your printer’s best or photo quality setting, and trim each page to your journal’s size before you start arranging spreads.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Sewing and Keepsake Pages
Cooling on the sill behind checkered curtains, this pie scene sets the whole book’s mood in one glance, warm and unmistakably a grandmother’s kitchen.
Tuck a real swatch of fabric or a loose button into the basket’s edge before you glue this page in, so the page holds a true keepsake and not just a picture of one.
The darning egg and spectacles give it character beyond a plain sewing kit, so leave a little room beside them for a note about whose hands used them.
Pair this one with the faded floral apron background from this set as a facing page, letting the zinnia rows spill color across both sides of the spread.
Glue a paper doily under the teapot before printing this page into your layout, so the lace tablecloth reads as real texture rather than flat ink.
A cake stand of cookies beside the cups makes this the natural page for a recipe card or a note about a favorite teatime treat, perfect next to the china cabinet page later in the set.
The usual mistake here is crowding every frame with writing, when one small caption under the lilacs says more than a paragraph ever will.
A knitted shawl draped over the chair, a yarn basket at its foot and a cat curled asleep nearby make this the gentlest page in the whole book.
Fits well as a five-minute page: a single line about naptime at grandma’s house is all it needs, no long entry required.
Kitchen and Pantry Pages
Who is this page for: give it to the grandchild who learned to bake at that counter, and leave space beside the mixing bowl for her own pie recipe.
Rows of homemade jam in gingham-lidded jars line this shelf, each one a small jewel of color against the pantry’s quiet background.
What question to write beside it: which jam was always grandma’s best, and who still asks for the recipe every summer.
Spilled buttons scattered across a crochet doily beside a single thimble make this the page to tear gently at one edge for an aged, handled look.
Aprons, tea towels and sheets hang in a row along grandma’s clothesline, catching a breeze that the painted sky behind them seems to carry.
Place it facing the cottage garden page so the whole spread feels like one long afternoon in her yard, laundry on one side and zinnias on the other.
The usual mistake is drawing the eye only to the teacups, so let the gravy boat and flowered plates behind them hold just as much weight on the page.
A powder compact, a strand of pearls and a hand mirror rest together on this small vanity, quiet objects that carry a lot of history.
Write a short prompt here: what perfume or scent still brings her whole kitchen back to mind in an instant.
Five-minute version: skip the full page and just glue this one in with a single date written under the lemonade glass, nothing more needed.
Lace trims and loose buttons fill this old cookie tin, the kind every grandmother seemed to keep tucked in a drawer for mending days.
Pair it with the button and thimble toss background from this set as a pocket lining, so loose trims and buttons can actually be tucked inside the journal.
A single apron hanging beside a broom and a bundle of dried herbs says more about her kitchen than any busier page could manage in one sentence.
A roast, a bowl of mashed potatoes and a lace table runner fill this page with the unmistakable feeling of a Sunday gathering at grandma’s house.
Tear the top edge lightly and tea-stain it before gluing this one in, so it reads like a page that has actually sat on a dinner table.
Place clay pots, gloves and pansies around this bench, then set it beside the cottage garden page so the two paths seem to lead into one another.
A half-finished scarf still on the needles and a pair of reading glasses left on the arm of the chair make this page feel caught mid-afternoon.
Great page for anyone learning to knit from her, with a short line about which pattern she was teaching when she set it down.
Kitchen and Pantry Pages
The usual mistake with mixer pages is leaving the bowl empty looking, so keep the batter visible and the cake pan close enough to feel mid-bake.
Mason jars, a basket of ripe peaches and a big canning pot fill this table with the busy, sweet smell of a whole afternoon’s work.
Good page to glue a small recipe card onto, folded shut so the jam recipe stays tucked inside until someone opens it.
A church hat, a pair of gloves and a brooch rest beside this open hat box, the kind of page that pairs naturally with the vanity table earlier in the set.
Cardinals visit this feeder while peonies bloom heavy nearby, a corner of grandma’s garden that always drew her out with a cup of coffee.
Ask a simple question on this page: which bird did she always point out first, and does anyone still watch for it the same way.
Closing scene for the set, this spread of lace, pressed flowers and small keepsakes works well as the final page before the journal’s lined pages begin.
Background Papers
Small rosebuds and leaves repeat edge to edge in this chintz pattern, a strong choice under photo corners, as a pocket lining or wrapped around the journal’s cover.
Tiny teacups alternate with small doily motifs across this sheet, well suited to lining the inside cover or backing a tea-themed pocket page.
Granny square motifs tile across this sheet in soft rows, a natural match for sewing basket pages, a pocket lining or a patchwork-style journal cover.
Buttons and thimbles scatter loosely across this sheet, ideal under sewing photos, as a pocket lining for the cookie tin page or wrapped around a notions envelope.
A faded floral print mimics worn apron fabric here, suited to backing the apron hook page, lining a pocket or covering the journal’s spine panel.
Lined Writing Pages
A scalloped lace doily border runs along the page’s edge, leaving the ruled lines open for a gift list, a letter to next year or a favorite saying of hers.
A small pie and rolling pin sit in one corner of this page, room enough beside the ruled lines for a recipe, a kitchen memory or a menu from her table.
Knitting needles and a loop of yarn run across the top of this page like a header, leaving the lines below open for a story about learning to knit.
A teapot and cups line the bottom border of this page, well suited to a letter to grandma, a list of her favorite teatime treats or an afternoon memory.
A small photo frame motif sits in one corner with pressed flowers beside it, leaving space for a caption, a letter to next year or a note about who is pictured.
What to Do Next
Print the full set, sort the pages into their sections and start building spreads around the pie windowsill, the sewing basket and the rose tea set first, since those three usually anchor the rest of a grandma journal beautifully.
