This seed packet junk journal kit gathers old fashioned packet art, garden still life scenes and soft patterned papers into one set you can print at home. Each packet shows a single flower or vegetable the way a seed catalogue once did, propped among trowels, seed trays and freshly dug beds, so the whole kit reads like a gardener’s keepsake box.
Inside you get 22 full scene pages, 5 seamless background papers for pockets and covers, and 5 lined writing pages for notes and planting records. Print on a matte cardstock heavy enough to hold glue, choose your printer’s best or photo setting for crisp colour, and trim close to the edge before you glue each page into your journal.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Flower Packets On The Bench
Pink sweet pea packet art sits beside a trowel and a loop of garden twine, ready to be the opening page of a planting log.
Leave a little room at the foot of the page and jot the sowing date or the name of the friend who gave you the seeds. A single line is enough, this page works best kept simple.
Zinnia seed packet art leans against a small clay pot of seedlings, the packet propped upright the way a gardener might rest it while her hands are busy.
Pansy seed packet art rests beside a tray of pansy seedlings just pricked out, each little plant still loose in its cell.
Pair this page with the soft blue trowel pattern from the background set further on, slipping a strip behind the tray so the pots seem to sit on patterned soil. It gives the spread a softer, more finished look without extra drawing.
Cosmos seed packet picture rests on a weathered bench in a cottage garden, with tall cosmos stems blurring softly into the painted border behind it.
Sunflowers Beans And Climbers
Sunflower seed packet art leans against an old metal watering can, tall enough that the packet only reaches its middle.
Beginners can keep the can plain and let the packet carry the colour. If you want more texture, dot a little rust and a dent or two onto the metal with a dry brush once the paint has dried.
Bean seed packet picture sits at the foot of a twig trellis where young bean shoots are just beginning to climb and curl.
Morning glory seed packet picture tucks into the gap between two weathered fence boards, half caught by a climbing vine.
This is a good one for a fold out: score a crease down the middle of the fence panel so the page opens to reveal a second small vignette of blooms underneath, a nice surprise tucked into the journal.
Pumpkin seed packet art rests near a curling vine and one small pumpkin just forming, a warm autumn note among the spring pages.
Vegetable Packets At The Potting Bench
Radish and carrot seed packet pictures sit side by side on a rustic potting bench, their painted roots echoing the real vegetables a gardener might be sorting nearby.
The usual mistake here is crowding both packets too close together so they blur into one shape. Keep a clear gap between them, even a trowel laid across the middle, so each stays its own small picture.
Tomato seed packet picture sits beside a basket piled with ripe tomatoes, the kind of page that suits a summer harvest spread.
Pea pod seed packet art sits on a garden table next to a colander heaped with freshly picked pods.
For this page, try a five minute version: skip the twine and the extra pods, keep just the packet and the colander, and let the plain tabletop carry the rest. It still reads as a full finished page.
Lettuce seed packet art rests at the edge of a raised bed thick with young green leaves, the packet tucked half into the soil.
Basil and dill seed packet pictures lean beside a row of potted herbs, each pot labelled the old fashioned way with a small wooden tag.
Pair this page with the sage toned vegetable background further along in this set, using a strip of it as a pocket behind the pots to hold a pressed herb leaf or a folded recipe card.
Shed Walls And Window Ledges
Nasturtium seed packet art pins to a weathered garden shed wall, a pair of worn gloves hanging just beside it on a nail.
Marigold seed packet art rests on a windowsill crowded with small seedling pots, the kind of spot every gardener keeps near good light.
Write the window’s view into the entry, even a plain one, since naming it later jogs the memory of the season this packet was sown in far better than the date alone.
Hollyhock seed packet picture leans against a whitewashed garden wall, tall hollyhock stems painted climbing beside it toward the top of the page.
Cornflower seed packet picture tucks into the pocket of a gardening apron, just the top edge of the packet showing above the fabric.
Try this page as a real pocket: leave the apron pocket unglued along its top edge so it holds a few actual dried cornflower petals or a folded note, a small working feature rather than a flat picture.
Garden Treasures And Keepsakes
Poppy seed packet picture rests beside a glass jar holding a few dried poppy seed heads, their papery tops still intact.
Picture-only seed packets fan out across a tin box, held loosely together with a length of string the way a tidy gardener keeps her collection sorted each spring.
This page suits the five minute version well: paint the tin and the string once, then simply vary which packet pictures peek out so the page feels full without extra detail elsewhere.
Picture-only seed packet collection sits inside an old wooden drawer, each packet overlapping slightly and tied together with a loop of twine.
Seed swap table gathers picture-only packets, labelled jars and small baskets, the kind of spread that suits the first page of a swap or trade section.
Place this page opposite the fanned tin box packets from earlier in this set so the two tables face each other across the spread, as though one swap had simply moved from one end of the hall to the other.
Aster seed packet art rests on a potting bench while a small sparrow perches at its edge, drawn in to the scatter of loose seeds nearby.
Background Papers
Small vintage seed packet pictures of garden flowers repeat in a gentle grid across a cream paper, perfect under a photo, lining a pocket page, or wrapping a plain cover.
Little vegetable seed packet pictures scatter across a sage toned paper, good for a vegetable patch section divider, a pocket lining or the inside cover of the journal.
Seed packets and small trowels repeat across a soft blue paper, suited to a pocket behind a scene page, a window mat, or the back cover of the finished journal.
Sprouting seeds and tiny seedlings cover a pale peach paper in a soft all over pattern, ideal under a seedling photo, as a pocket lining, or behind a lined page border.
Flower seed packet pictures and loops of twine repeat across a kraft toned paper, good for a journal cover, a pocket lining, or wrapping a gift of seeds.
Lined Writing Pages
A tidy row of seed packets runs along the top border of this page, leaving the ruled lines below free for a sowing log, a gift list of seeds to share, or notes on this year’s garden plan.
Seedling tray and seed packet border runs along the bottom of the page, well suited to a planting menu for the season, a watering schedule, or a letter to next year’s gardener self.
Vintage flower seed packet pictures gather in one corner of this page, leaving room on the lines for a flower wish list, a record of blooms picked, or a note to a gardening friend.
Vegetable seed packet pictures frame all four edges of this page, leaving the centre clear for a harvest list, a recipe using today’s vegetables, or a note on what grew best this year.
Scattered seeds and small sprouts drift along one side of this page in a soft border, leaving the lines open for a sowing date, a gift tag message, or a letter tucked in for next spring.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a seed packet junk journal kit?
Matte cardstock around 200 to 250gsm works best, since it holds glue without warping and feels sturdy enough for daily handling. Thinner paper is fine for lined pages you plan to write on often.
What printer settings give the clearest seed packet pictures?
Choose your printer’s best quality or photo setting on plain or matte paper mode, never draft. This keeps the fine ink outlines sharp and stops the soft watercolour tones from looking washed out.
What size should I print these pages for a handmade journal?
Standard US letter or A4 suits most handmade journals and trims down easily to A5 or a smaller travel size. Print a test page first to check your chosen trim leaves enough border.
What do I use to colour in or glue these pages?
The pages print in full colour already, so you only need a glue stick or light craft glue to fix them into your journal. Fine tip pens suit the lined pages for your own notes.
Can I mix these pages with other garden journal kits?
Yes, the soft vintage palette pairs easily with other garden themed sets, since these pages are designed to sit alongside potting sheds, flower beds and similar cottage garden art.
