Table of Contents
This tarot junk journal kit takes the soft, hopeful side of tarot imagery, sun, moon, stars, crystals and gardens, and turns it into 31 pages ready for your album. There are 22 scene pages full of mystic gardens and gentle symbolism, 4 seamless background papers for covers and pockets, and 5 lined writing pages for the words you want to keep.
Print the whole set on matte cardstock heavy enough to take glue without curling, set your printer to its best photo or highest quality setting, and trim to your journal’s page size before you start gluing. Keep a damp sponge nearby for distressing edges if you like that look.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Sun, Moon and Star Pages
Pair this page with the celestial stars and moons background from this set: trim the sun scene into an arch and mat it onto a strip of the pattern so the two sheets read as one spread.
Write a short note about what you are releasing or letting settle, the way the pond settles under moonlight, somewhere along the water’s edge on this page.
The usual trouble with a figure page like this is leaving her floating on bare paper, which flattens the whole scene. Paint or choose a version with a soft hillside, scattered stars and a pool at her feet so she sits inside a finished night rather than on top of one.
A light wash of indigo behind the stars keeps the page from feeling empty even where nothing else is happening.
Fortune and Love Pages
This one is lovely for the friend in a gift journal who is mid decision or waiting on news: leave the center open so she can glue in her own small photo or ticket stub later.
Glue a pressed flower, a folded love note or a ticket from a date night right onto the garden path in the lower third of this page.
A small envelope tucked beside the figures also works well if you want to hide something you’ll find again later.
Ask yourself on this page what you are grateful to be holding right now, and let the answer spill into the lines below the cup like the question were poured there itself.
A crossed pair of budding wands sits at the center of a crown shape made from fresh spring leaves, with small buds and a ribbon tie, painted meadow behind the whole arrangement.
Garden and Nature Pages
Try the five minute version of this page when you are short on time: a single stem of roses beside one white lily, a patch of painted grass behind, nothing more.
For a fuller page, add a stone bench, a watering can and a butterfly resting on a petal.
Place this page beside the hermit’s mountain path page in your spread so the two travelers seem to be walking toward each other across the gutter of the journal.
The tower itself can read a little stark on its own, so let the climbing roses wrap most of the stone and spill over the base onto the ground below it, with soft painted sky filling every gap around the top.
Think about who in a gift journal this suits best: the friend who just moved somewhere new, or anyone finding her own quiet path this year, since the lantern reads as a small steady light rather than solitude.
A seated figure rests among tall golden wheat, a crown of wheat stalks and small flowers in her hair, with poppies scattered at her feet and a soft painted sky above.
If you want to tea-stain this page, do just the top corner near the sky so the gold of the wheat below stays bright against the aged edge.
Crystal and Candle Pages
Tear the bottom edge of this page unevenly before gluing it in, so the lace tablecloth seems to spill past the border of the journal page itself.
Three or four small tarot-style cards lie face up on a deep velvet cloth, with lit candles, a scattering of petals and a small crystal at the corner of the spread.
Leave a narrow blank card shape among the spread empty so you can write your own single word of intention directly onto the page.
Cut a small window into the facing page of your journal so this crystal cluster peeks through from underneath, a nice trick for making two pages feel connected.
A pale moth rests on the curve of a crescent moon, surrounded by scattered stars and a few small night flowers, with a deep painted sky filling the rest of the page.
Glue in a real tea bag tag, a recipe for your favorite blend, or a short note about a reading you did for yourself beside the cup.
A saucer of small cakes or a sugar bowl in the background keeps the page from feeling like a single lonely object sitting on the paper.
Ritual and Strength Pages
The usual mistake here is painting the stream of water too thin to read once printed small, so keep a generous ribbon of water flowing between the two cups and let it catch the light.
Write a single line here about something you did this year that took more courage than it looked like from the outside, right along the lion’s painted mane.
Two pale horses pull a small flower-trimmed chariot across an open field, with ribbons streaming behind and a painted sky stretching the full width of the page.
Pair this with the ornate tarot card border lined page that follows later in this set, writing your current goals along its lines right beside the chariot’s forward motion.
A single engraved coin rests on a small garden table alongside a potted herb, a pair of gloves and a trowel, with a painted hedge and sky filling the space behind.
Use this page for a short list of herbs or flowers you want to grow, dry or paint again next season, written right across the open pages of the book.
Background Papers
Use this all-over scatter of stars and crescent moons in dusty lilac and gold under a favorite photo, as a pocket lining inside the front cover, or folded into a small envelope for keepsakes.
This repeating border of small card frames works well as a journal cover, a divider page between sections, or cut into strips for bookmarks tucked between pages.
Try this scatter of small crystals and blossoms as the lining for an inside pocket, the backing behind a photo of a favorite garden, or wrapped around a gift tucked inside the journal.
This one reads as a rich cover paper, a mat behind a tarot spread photo, or the base layer under a die cut moon or star shape glued on top.
Lined Writing Pages
Use these lines for a morning and evening journal entry, a list of intentions tied to the sun and moon, or a letter to yourself to open next year.
Write a gratitude list, notes from a reading you gave yourself, or a short description of a crystal you want to add to your collection along these lines.
These lines suit a wish list, a record of a meaningful dream, or a few words copied from a favorite poem about the night sky.
Try this one for a letter to next year, a single tarot card meaning you want to remember, or a short menu from a tea reading gathered with friends.
Use these lines for a packing list before a quiet retreat, a few lines about something you are ready to release, or a short letter to a future version of yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a tarot junk journal kit like this one?
Matte cardstock around 90 to 110 lb holds the washes crisply and resists curling once glued. Avoid glossy photo paper, since it repels glue stick and makes pencil or pen notes smear.
What printer settings give the best results?
Set your printer to its highest quality or photo setting and choose the matte or cardstock paper type if your printer offers it. This keeps the soft watercolor edges smooth instead of banded.
What size should I print these pages?
Standard US letter or A4 suits most junk journals, then trim down to your album’s page size afterward. Trimming after printing gives cleaner edges than resizing before you print.
Can I color or add to these pages by hand?
Yes, a light wash of watercolor or a few strokes of colored pencil over the printed page adds texture without fighting the existing palette. Keep added color muted so it blends with the vintage tones already on the page.
What should I use to glue the pages into my journal?
An acid free glue stick is the simplest choice for flat scene and background pages, since it dries quickly without wrinkling the paper. Save liquid glue for pockets or layered elements that need a stronger hold.
