Table of Contents
This mothers day junk journal kit gathers a whole gentle morning onto paper: breakfast in bed, handpicked bouquets, quiet garden moments and the small keepsakes worth keeping. Inside you get 22 scene pages full of teacups, peonies and porch chairs, 5 seamless background papers for covers and pockets, and 5 lined writing pages for the notes that matter most.
Print the whole set on heavyweight matte paper, at the printer’s best or photo quality setting, so the colour stays soft and the paper still folds well. Trim each sheet to your journal size before gluing, and keep a small stack of plain cardstock on hand for pockets cut from the backgrounds.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Morning In Bed Pages
Set the whole page around a wooden tray carrying a teapot, a cup of tea, a slice of buttered toast and a small vase of flowers, with a folded napkin and a sprig of blossom tucked beside the plate, all resting on rumpled bedding painted soft and full behind it.
Glue in a real tea bag tag or a torn corner of a napkin here, right where the tray sits. It gives the page a bit of texture to touch, and nobody needs to guess what the morning smelled like.
Pair this one with the little hearts and sweet peas background paper: trim a thin strip of that pattern and glue it along the bottom edge like a ribbon, so the wrapped tulips sit on a patterned shelf instead of bare paper.
The bouquet itself is tulips wrapped in brown paper and tied with twine, with a few loose stems and petals scattered near the base and a garden wall softly painted behind.
Ready for a slice of strawberry cake on fine china, set beside a vintage teacup and saucer, a small silver fork and a scatter of crumbs, with a lace tablecloth painted beneath the whole arrangement.
Garden Together Pages
The usual mistake on a page like this is cramming in too many tools and pots until the two figures get lost. Keep the trowel, the seed tray and one watering can small, and let the mother and daughter stay the clear centre of the page.
They kneel together at a flower bed in a cottage garden, planting young blooms, with a low stone wall and climbing roses painted softly behind them.
Write the giver’s name and a short line of thanks on a small tag tucked under the bow here, right where the gift box meets the peonies, so the page holds an actual message instead of just a picture.
This page works best five minutes before you run out of journaling time: it asks for almost nothing extra, just a sewing basket with lace trim, loose buttons and a pincushion sitting on a chair seat, a shawl draped over the back behind it.
Glue it in as is, or tuck a single real button into the basket’s painted opening for texture. Either way the page reads as finished in under a minute.
Spread a quilt on the grass for this one, with sandwiches on a plate, a pitcher of lemonade and two glasses, and a basket of roses set just off the quilt’s edge, a hedge of blooms painted behind the whole spread.
A short question for the entry written near this one: what did she keep in her jewellery box growing up. Answer it beside a heart-shaped locket and a string of pearls resting on a lace handkerchief.
Fill the kitchen table with a short stack of pancakes, a bowl of berries and a small jug of syrup, plus a few loose roses laid across the cloth, a sunny window painted behind the whole spread.
If you want a quieter version, leave off the berries and keep just the pancakes and the roses. The page still reads as a full brunch, only lighter to fill in around.
Place this page beside the teacups and roses background paper in your layout, letting its pattern peek from the facing page like wallpaper behind the nest. A mother bird feeds her chicks among blossoming branches here, soft and full.
A jar of daisies sits on a sunny windowsill here, alongside a single pressed flower and a loose length of ribbon, with a curtain and soft daylight painted behind the whole arrangement.
For a gift journal made for a grandmother who keeps hens or simply loves them, this page earns its place near the front. A mother hen shelters fluffy chicks beneath a tree in full bloom.
Fallen blossom petals scatter around her feet, and a soft garden fence stands painted behind the whole scene, giving the page a full, settled feel rather than a single bird on bare paper.
Keepsakes And Sentiment Pages
A rocking chair on the porch holds a knitted shawl here, with a vase of roses set on a small side table beside it and a porch rail painted softly behind the whole arrangement.
A vanity table holds a hand mirror, a small perfume bottle and a loose bunch of fresh sweet peas, with a lace runner and a softly lit mirror reflection painted behind the whole arrangement.
Tuck a swatch of real lace or ribbon along the table edge if you like texture underfoot. It is a small touch, but it turns a painted table into something closer to a real keepsake.
A mama duck leads her ducklings past a border of tulips at the edge of a pond, with lily pads and soft ripples painted across the water behind the whole line of them.
Garden Together Pages
An apron hangs loose beside a rolling pin and a tray of fresh scones here, all set on a floured kitchen table, with a mixing bowl and a jar of jam painted softly behind the whole spread.
A garden gate holds a basket of roses hanging from its latch, somewhere between a scene and a quiet threshold: there is the gate itself, the basket, a climbing vine along the fence and the garden path glimpsed beyond.
Pair it with the peony and ribbon frame lined page facing it, so the entry written there feels like a step through the very gate shown here.
A cake topped with buttercream roses sits on a vintage pedestal plate here, with a cake server and a small stack of plates nearby, a lace tablecloth painted softly beneath the whole arrangement.
A mother sheep rests with her lamb in a meadow scattered with daisies, soft hills and a pale sky painted behind them so the whole page feels wide open and unhurried.
A hat box sits open on the bed beside a pair of gloves and a corsage of carnations, with a loose ribbon trailing from the box lid and a quilted bedspread painted behind the whole arrangement.
This page suits a daughter putting together a gift journal for a mother who loves getting dressed up. Leave a line beside it for the story behind one favourite hat.
A teapot and two cups wait on a sunny garden table here, beside a loose bouquet laid across the cloth, with a trellis of climbing roses painted behind the whole scene.
Close the set of scene pages with a small sewing tin of embroidery threads beside a finished floral hoop, a needle resting across the fabric and a few loose spools scattered near the tin.
Tear the edge of this page roughly by hand before gluing it in, the way an old pattern sheet might fray. It gives the last scene a softer, well handled feel against the smooth backgrounds that follow.
Background Papers
Small pink carnations repeat edge to edge on a cream ground here, useful under a framed photo, cut into a pocket lining for keepsake tickets, or wrapped around a plain journal cover.
Teacups and roses repeat all over this page, well suited to a pocket behind a brunch photo, a strip along a journal spine, or the inside cover of the finished book.
Tiny hearts and sweet pea blossoms scatter across this page, good for lining a gift envelope pocket, backing a locket photo, or wrapping a small keepsake box tucked into the journal.
Pastel peony bouquets repeat softly across this page, ready to sit behind a garden photo, line a pocket for pressed petals, or form the cover of the whole journal.
A lace doily motif interlaces with small rosebuds across this page, well suited to a vanity-themed pocket, a frame behind a handwritten note, or the journal’s back cover.
Lined Writing Pages
A border of carnation bouquets frames faint ruled lines left open down the middle, ready for a gift list, a short brunch menu, or a letter written to next year’s Mother’s Day self.
A teacup sits painted in one corner with faint ruled lines filling the rest of the page, good for jotting a favourite recipe, a thank you note, or a list of small things she taught you.
Peonies and loose ribbon trail along the top and bottom edges here, framing faint ruled lines in the middle, ready for a garden memory, a packing list for a visit, or a short letter.
A garland of tiny heart lockets runs down one side of this page, leaving faint ruled lines open for a keepsake list, a note tucked inside a card, or a few lines about a favourite photo.
Small flowers from a breakfast tray scatter along the corners of this page, framing faint ruled lines left open for the morning’s menu, a thank you note, or a wish for the year ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a mothers day junk journal?
Heavyweight matte cardstock, around 90 to 120 gsm, works best for a mothers day junk journal. It takes ink and watercolour touch-ups well, folds cleanly for binding, and feels sturdy once the pages are glued in and handled.
What printer settings give the best colour?
Set the printer to its best or photo quality mode on matte or cardstock paper. This keeps the soft pastel tones true and the fine ink outlines crisp, rather than faded or slightly blurred on a lower draft setting.
What size should I print these pages?
Print at standard A4 or US letter size and trim to fit your journal afterward. Many journal makers also shrink pages slightly on a home printer to leave a small white margin for easier trimming and gluing.
What do I use to glue the pages into a journal?
A thin acid free glue stick works well for flat pages and keeps them from wrinkling. For pockets cut from the background papers, add a little extra glue only along the edges so the pocket stays open for tucking things inside.
Can I colour or add to these pages by hand?
Yes, these pages print fully coloured but take added touches well. A fine tip pen suits handwritten captions, while a light coloured pencil can deepen a shadow or add a small extra detail near the edges.
