These christmas junk journal ideas turn one holiday moment into one finished page, no repeated layouts and no character themes to trace around. The set holds twenty-two full scene pages, four seamless background sheets and five lined writing pages, each one a different corner of the season from a gingerbread recipe card to a frosted window with a hidden pocket.

Print every sheet on a home printer at full page size, trim it to the journal’s trim size if needed, and set the printer to its best quality for richer color. Glue the scenes in as finished pages, use the backgrounds behind photos or as pocket linings, and save the lined pages for notes written straight into the season.

Gingerbread Recipe Card Page

A hand-lettered gingerbread recipe sits at the centre of the page, surrounded by a rolling pin, a handful of star cutters and a dusting of cinnamon. Fits readers who love a kitchen theme spread. Print on matte cardstock so pen ink does not feather, then trim close to the edge before gluing it flat as a single page.

Frosted Window With Pocket

A frosted windowpane looks out over snowy rooftops, with a small pocket tucked below the sill for hiding a tucked note or ticket stub. Good for a page that needs a surprise element. Cut along the pocket’s dotted edge and glue only the sides, leaving the top open for slipping things inside.

Cocoa Mug Tag Spread

A steaming mug of cocoa sits on a saucer with marshmallows, a cinnamon stick and a small gift tag beside it ready for writing a name. Works well as a two page spread anchor. Print both halves on separate sheets and glue them side by side so the mug sits across the fold.

Christmas Eve Mantel Scene

Three stockings hang along a garland draped mantel, with candles, a small clock and a sprig of holly tucked between them. Suits a page marking the night before Christmas. Trim the sheet to the journal’s trim size first, then score a light fold line if using it as a foldout spread.

Gifts Under The Tree Corner

A cluster of wrapped presents sits tucked beneath a lower branch, tied with ribbon and tucked tags, with a toy drum peeking from behind. Good for a page about gift giving or a wish list. Glue it flat across a full page, or trim the corner to tuck under another page.

Vintage Ornament Box Still Life

An open box of glass ornaments sits with tissue paper spilling out, a few baubles resting loose beside a strand of tinsel. Suits collectors who like an antique feel, and pairs well with ideas from the christmas watercolor ideas list. Print on slightly heavier cardstock if layering other elements on top, since thin paper can show through.

Candle And Pine Wreath Table

A lit taper candle stands beside a small pine wreath tied with a plaid ribbon, with a few scattered pine needles across the table. Fits a quiet winter evening page. Trim the sheet edge to edge and glue flat, or fold one corner for a dog eared bookmark effect.

Letter To Santa Envelope Pocket

A handwritten letter peeks from an envelope pocket addressed to the North Pole, with a wax seal and a few loose stamps beside it. Good for keeping an actual note tucked inside. Cut the pocket along its outline and glue only the bottom and sides to leave the top open.

Snow Globe On A Shelf

A small snow globe holding a tiny village sits on a shelf beside a pinecone and a short stack of books. Suits a nostalgic winter page. Print on matte paper to avoid glare where the globe’s glass catches the light, then trim close to the shelf edge.

Christmas Market Stall

A small market stall sells mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, strung with fairy lights and a chalkboard price sign. Fits a page about a festive outing. Glue the whole sheet flat as a single page, or trim the stall shape and layer it over a plain background page.

Holly And Berries Corner

A sprig of holly with red berries curls across one corner of the page, with a few loose leaves and a ribbon trailing beside it. Works as a simple accent page between busier spreads. Trim along the sprig’s edge for a shaped page, or leave it full and square.

Advent Calendar Window Page

A row of small numbered windows sits across the page, each one slightly open to hint at a hidden treat or trinket. Suits a countdown spread. Cut along three sides of each window flap so it opens like a real advent door, leaving one edge attached.

Pine Cone And Cinnamon Basket

A woven basket holds pinecones, cinnamon sticks and a few dried orange slices, tied with twine. Fits a page about natural winter decorating. Print on cardstock heavy enough to hold its shape if trimming the basket out to glue onto a thicker background page.

Christmas Cookies On A Plate

A plate of iced cookies in star and tree shapes sits beside a small glass of milk and a scattering of sprinkles. Good for a baking memory page, and fits nicely alongside the easy watercolor food ideas for a kitchen themed journal section. Trim the plate shape out for layering, or keep the full sheet for a simple glued in page.

Ice Skates By The Door

A pair of worn ice skates hangs by their laces near the door, beside a scarf and a pair of mittens drying on a hook. Suits a page about a skating outing. Glue it flat as a single page near other winter activity spreads.

Knitted Stocking With Mini Gifts

A knitted stocking sits stuffed with small wrapped gifts, a candy cane and an orange tucked near the top. Fits a page celebrating stocking stuffers. Trim the stocking’s outline for a shaped insert, or leave the sheet whole and glue it flat across the page.

Carol Songbook Page

An open songbook shows a page of carol lyrics, weighted down with a sprig of mistletoe and a pair of reading glasses. Suits a page for music lovers, and borrows nicely from the lettering style in merry christmas drawing ideas. Print on matte paper so handwriting added later does not smear across the printed lines.

Sleigh Bells And Ribbon Bundle

A bundle of small brass sleigh bells sits tied with a red ribbon, beside a sprig of pine and a loose pinecone. Good for a simple accent page. Trim along the bundle’s edge for a layered insert, or keep the whole sheet for a flat glued page.

Fireplace With Stockings Hung

A brick fireplace glows with a low fire, stockings hanging from the mantel above and a pair of slippers warming nearby. Fits a cozy evening page. Glue the sheet flat across a full page, trimming only if fitting it beside a narrower spread.

Christmas Tree Ornament Close Up

A single glass ornament hangs close on a pine branch, catching a hint of light, with smaller baubles and a strand of tinsel nearby. Suits a page about a favorite decoration. Trim the branch’s edge for a shaped page, or leave the sheet whole.

Table Set For Christmas Dinner

A table is set with a small roast, candles and a sprig of holly across the centre, with napkins folded beside each plate. Fits a page about a shared meal. Print on cardstock heavy enough to resist curling once glued flat into the journal.

Snowy Village Rooftops View

A row of snow covered rooftops stretches across the page, with chimney smoke curling up and a few lit windows glowing below. Suits a quiet wide page between busier spreads. Glue it flat as a full page or trim the roofline for a layered top edge.

Holly Berry Pattern

Small holly leaves and red berries repeat edge to edge in a gentle all over pattern. Use it as cover paper for the journal, behind a photo, or trimmed for a pocket lining. Print on standard paper for lighter pockets, cardstock for a sturdier cover.

Tartan Ribbon Pattern

Thin crossing stripes repeat like a tartan ribbon across the whole sheet. Fits a journal cover, an envelope lining or a backing sheet behind a tucked photo. Print on lightweight paper if folding it into a small pocket, cardstock if using it as a cover.

Pine Branch Pattern

Small pine sprigs and loose needles scatter in a repeating pattern across the page. Use it behind a photo, as a pocket lining or trimmed into tags. Print on matte paper for the softest finish, or cardstock for a firmer tag base.

Snowflake Pattern

Simple snowflakes of a few sizes repeat evenly across the whole sheet. Fits a journal cover, an envelope lining or a backing page behind a winter photo. Print on cardstock for a cover that holds its shape through handling.

Holly Corner Sprays Lined Page

Small sprays of holly and berries sit in each corner, framing faint ruled lines across the middle. Use it for daily notes through the season or a gratitude list. Print on warm white cardstock so ink sits cleanly on the ruled lines.

Candy Cane Border Lined Page

A thin candy cane stripe runs along the top edge, with faint ruled lines filling the space below for writing. Suits a page for a Christmas wish list or a letter draft, and fits well within the layout tips in the junk journaling handbook. Print on soft white paper for easy handwriting with any pen.

Pine Garland Band Lined Page

A pine garland runs down one side of the page, tied with small ribbon bows, beside faint ruled lines for writing. Fits a page for recording a favorite memory or recipe. Print on cardstock heavy enough to take glued additions later.

Mistletoe Frame Lined Page

A thin frame of mistletoe sprigs runs around all four edges, leaving faint ruled lines open in the middle for writing. Suits a page for a short letter or a daily log. Print on warm white paper for a soft handwriting surface.

Ornament Corner Lined Page

Small glass ornaments sit tucked in two opposite corners, with faint ruled lines running across the middle. Fits a page for a gift list or a short note to a friend. Print on matte cardstock for a clean writing surface.

What to Do Next

Print the whole set in one sitting, then spend one evening gluing the scene pages in and save the lined sheets for the notes that come with the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper works best for printing these pages?

Matte cardstock between 90 and 110 gsm gives the richest color without curling once glued into a journal. Plain printer paper works for background sheets used as pocket linings, since it folds more easily. Avoid glossy photo paper, since it resists glue and smears easily with ink pens.

What printer settings give the best color?

Choose the printer’s best or photo quality setting and select plain or matte paper type even on cardstock, since this slows the print and lays down more ink. Borderless printing keeps the edge to edge color true to the painted sheets, avoiding a thin white rim around each page.

What size should the pages be trimmed to?

Most junk journals run close to a standard A5 or a slightly smaller handmade size. Print each sheet at full page size, then trim it down to match the journal’s covers before gluing. Keeping one page as a template speeds up trimming the rest of the set evenly.

What is the best way to glue the pages in?

A glue stick works well for flat pages and keeps the paper from wrinkling under its weight. For pockets and tucked elements, use a small dot of liquid glue only along the edges that need to stay sealed, leaving the opening free for sliding things in and out.

Can the background pages be colored or customized further?

Yes. Colored pencils or fine markers layer well over the printed washes for adding extra shading or a personal touch. A light hand works best, since heavy color on top of the printed pattern can muddy the soft palette the set was painted in.
