31 Kdrama Drawing Ideas of Shared Umbrellas, Convenience Store Ramen and First Snow Confessions

7

Every kdrama drawing starts with a small gesture, not a big dramatic pose. A hand grabbing a wrist, a scarf pulled off and handed over, a shoulder getting rained on so someone else stays dry: these tiny moments are what your markers are good at, because they live in gesture and blush, not in detail. You already know the feeling you are chasing, so the only question is which scene to pick up first.

Below are 31 original character moments, no real faces or show logos anywhere, just the beats that make this genre work: shared umbrellas, late night ramen counters, piggyback rides, first snow. Each one is sized to finish in a single sitting, built from a thin fineliner outline and soft marker blends you can learn fast. Scroll, find the one that makes you want to pick up a pen right now, and start there.

Start the whole series with the move that defines the genre: a boy tilting his umbrella over a girl so far that his own shoulder sits outside it, already dark with rain. Sketch the umbrella first as a simple dome shape tilted toward her, then build both figures underneath it, hers dry and upright, his leaning in and slightly hunched.

Outline everyone in fineliner before you touch a marker, then block in skin and hair with your lightest tones first. Save your cherry red for one small thing, maybe her scarf or his umbrella panel, so the eye knows exactly where to land.

The common mistake here is making the umbrella too small to read as shared. Check the proportion by holding your pen at arm’s length against the sketch: the umbrella canopy should be roughly as wide as both heads plus the gap between them, otherwise it looks like one person being polite rather than two people under one shelter.

If you do not have alcohol markers yet, this scene still reads well in colored pencil layered slowly for the same soft blend. Keep his wet shoulder a shade darker than hers to sell the whole idea in one glance.

Move from rain to the quieter comfort of two friends slurping cup ramen side by side at a convenience store window counter at midnight. Draw the counter as a simple horizontal line first, then set both characters on stools facing the window, shoulders close, steam rising from each cup in a few curved fineliner strokes.

Color the ramen cup last so it pops: cream base, a little cherry red on the lid, warm highlights in the broth. Block clothing in your softer tones first so the steam and the red lid read as the brightest things on the page.

Steam is where this one usually goes wrong, drawn too thick and it looks like smoke rather than warmth. Keep the lines broken and sparse, three or four light curves rising and fading rather than one solid cloud.

No window counter on hand to reference? A single horizontal shelf with two stools reads as a convenience store instantly, you do not need signage or shelves of product behind them.

After a quiet scene, give yourself a looser one: a tipsy girl asleep on a boy’s back during a piggyback ride home, her arms draped loose, cheek against his shoulder. Build the pose from the spine out, his back forming a diagonal line that carries her weight believably, her limbs hanging rather than gripping.

Work his figure first in mid stride, one leg forward, then layer her on top so her weight visibly presses into him. Keep her face soft and slack, eyes closed, mouth slightly open, that reads as sleep far better than a peaceful closed smile.

If this is your first time drawing a piggyback pose, the whole thing collapses if her arms look too stiff or too tightly clasped. Let them hang loose around his neck with a slight curve, that looseness is what sells “asleep” rather than “holding on.”

No reference photo handy? Stand up and mime the lean yourself, even briefly, to feel where the weight actually sits before you draw it.

First snow deserves its own scene: a couple looking up in surprise as the first snowflakes land, both faces tilted skyward, mouths slightly open. Place the horizon low on the page so most of the frame is open sky, then scatter snowflakes as small white gel pen dots once your marker layers are dry.

Paint skin and hair tones first, coats second, and leave the sky itself nearly bare, just a wash of pale sky blue fading toward cream at the top. That contrast between full color below and open pale sky above is what makes the snow visible at all.

Eye level matters here: keep both faces at roughly the same height, tilted up at the same angle, so it reads as a shared moment rather than two separate reactions. If one face tilts more than the other, add a hand reaching toward the sky to tie them together instead.

Today’s tip: lay your white gel pen snowflakes down last, over fully dry marker, and vary their size so the nearest ones look bigger than the ones higher up.

For a related mood board of falling snow poses and angles, browse snow drawing ideas for more ways to scatter flakes convincingly.

Shift the mood to something quieter with two coworkers sharing canned coffee on a rooftop under city lights, sitting side by side with knees drawn up, one can passed between them. Sketch the rooftop railing and a loose skyline of small rectangular buildings behind them before you touch the figures, so the perspective sits right from the start.

Light here comes from below and behind, city glow rather than sun, so keep highlights warm and low on their faces rather than on top of their heads the way daylight would sit. That single choice is what makes a rooftop at night feel different from a daytime bench scene.

Render the skyline loosely, a few lit windows in cream and cherry red scattered irregularly, never in a neat grid, or it starts to look like graph paper instead of a city. Keep the two figures as the sharpest, most detailed shapes on the page.

Swap the can for a paper coffee cup if you prefer, the gesture of passing something warm between two tired coworkers is what carries the scene either way.

Build tension into the next one: a boy grabbing a girl’s wrist just before she steps onto the bus, her body already turned toward the open door, his arm stretched to catch her. Block the bus door and step first as a simple vertical shape at one edge of the page, then angle both figures in a diagonal pull between them.

Draw his hand around her wrist before anything else on his side of the page, since that grip is the whole story and everything else builds around it. Her face turns back over her shoulder, surprised rather than annoyed, eyebrows up.

Hands are where this scene usually falls apart. If fingers feel impossible, simplify the grip to three visible fingers and a thumb wrapping the wrist rather than attempting every knuckle, it still reads clearly at this scale.

No bus to reference? A single vertical rectangle with a horizontal line for a step is enough, viewers fill in the rest from context.

Open the page up with a couple cycling along the Han river at sunset, bikes side by side, the water a wide pale band behind them. Lay the horizon low again here, just like the snow scene, since river scenes and sky scenes both need room above the figures to carry mood.

Work the sunset sky first in layered warm tones, cream into soft rose into a touch of sky blue near the top, blending while the marker is still workable. Add the bikes and figures last, keeping them as dark silhouette shapes against that warm sky so the whole scene reads instantly even from a distance.

Wheels drawn as perfect circles look stiff in a scene about movement. Flatten them very slightly, elongate the bottom curve a touch, and tilt both bikes forward a few degrees to suggest they are actually rolling.

If you want this scene to feel brighter and more playful next time, swap the sunset for full daylight blue sky and let the cherry red live in one bike frame instead of the sky.

Bring the pace right down for a nervous boy confessing across a café table while his latte goes cold, both characters seated, his hands wrapped tight around the cup, hers resting still on the table. Sketch the table as a simple oval first, then place both figures leaning in from opposite sides, his shoulders hunched forward, hers slightly pulled back in surprise.

Color his knuckles a touch paler than the rest of his skin where he grips the cup, that small tension detail does a lot of emotional work without needing a detailed face. Leave a faint ring of steam rising from her untouched drink to show time passing, nothing from his, since his has gone cold.

The easiest fix if his pose reads flat: tilt his head down slightly and his shoulders in, confession poses almost always lean forward and down rather than sitting upright.

Here is today’s tip: draw the table slightly wider than feels natural, it gives both figures room to lean in without their heads crowding the center of the page.

Palette: Soft Rose Pink,Cream,Mint,Payne’s Grey

Shift to something quieter and funnier: a girl pretending to be asleep in the passenger seat so the drive lasts longer, head tilted against the window, one eye almost imperceptibly open. Draw the car interior loosely, just a window frame and a hint of seat, so the two profiles, hers resting and his focused on the road, carry the whole scene.

Work her face with soft, relaxed lines, no furrowed brow, since convincing fake sleep looks almost identical to real sleep except for that one tiny detail you can leave to the viewer’s imagination rather than drawing outright.

Night driving scenes often go wrong when the car window looks too flat. Add one soft reflected highlight across the glass in pale sky blue to suggest streetlights passing, that single stripe does most of the work.

Short on time? The ten minute version is just her profile against the window glow. Given forty minutes, add his hands on the wheel and a blurred streetlamp or two outside for depth.

Raise the stakes with a boy in a long coat running through an airport to stop her flight, coat flaring behind him, one arm reaching forward. Draw the running pose first using a strong diagonal lean, front leg bent and reaching, back leg trailing, coat drawn as a few sweeping curved lines that trail behind rather than hang straight.

Keep the airport background minimal, a signless departure board shape and a blurred row of seats is plenty, the running figure should fill most of the page and carry all the energy.

Movement lines are the trick worth learning here: a few short, light fineliner strokes trailing off his coat and shoes suggest speed without needing a blurred airbrush effect. Keep them sparse, three or four lines per limb, more than that starts to look messy rather than fast.

If coats feel tricky to draw in motion, start with the body pose fully finished first, then drape the coat shape over it last, letting it billow wherever gravity and movement would naturally pull it.

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Cherry Red,Cream,Sky Blue

Bring the energy back down to something small and funny: two strangers reaching for the last triangle kimbap at the same moment, both hands meeting on the same shelf, both faces turning toward each other in surprise. Draw the convenience store shelf first as a simple horizontal band, kimbap triangles lined up in a loose row, then both hands reaching from opposite directions toward the same one.

Overlap the two hands slightly rather than leaving a gap between them, that contact is the whole joke of the scene and needs to read instantly. Keep both faces turned toward each other rather than toward the shelf, surprise lives in the eye contact, not in the product.

If you have not drawn food packaging before, a triangle kimbap simplifies nicely to a plain triangle wrapped in a dark band near the base, no need to render actual plastic wrap texture.

No convenience store shelf handy to study? A kitchen pantry shelf works as a stand-in for the proportions and spacing, the exact product behind them barely registers next to those two surprised faces.

Palette: Cream,Mint,Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey

Zoom in close for an intimate little gesture: a boy wiping a smudge of sauce from a girl’s cheek with his thumb, his hand cupping just under her jaw, her eyes wide and a little frozen. Frame this one tighter than most scenes on this list, cropping close around both faces so the gesture fills the page rather than getting lost in a wider scene.

Build his hand first, since the thumb placement against her cheek is the anchor the whole drawing hangs on, then work both faces outward from that point of contact. Keep her expression caught mid-surprise, slightly parted lips, eyes not quite meeting his.

Hands near faces are notoriously tricky at this angle. Simplify his hand to a soft cupped shape with just the thumb clearly separated and detailed, the rest of the fingers can stay loosely suggested behind her jaw rather than fully drawn.

Leave the tiny sauce smudge itself as a small soft cherry red mark near the corner of her mouth, understated rather than cartoonish, so the moment still feels tender rather than silly.

Palette: Soft Rose Pink,Cherry Red,Cream,Payne’s Grey

Return to a cold-weather gesture: a boy putting his scarf on a shivering girl at a bus stop, both bundled in coats, his hands mid-motion wrapping the scarf around her neck. Sketch the bus stop sign post and bench loosely in the background first, keeping it plain and signless, then build both figures close together in the foreground.

Her shoulders should curl in slightly, arms crossed over herself, to read as cold before you even add the scarf. His hands stay active, fingers visible mid-wrap rather than already finished, which keeps the moment feeling like it is still happening.

Measure the scarf’s length against her torso before coloring it in: a scarf that only wraps once looks thin and unconvincing, let it loop around twice with both ends hanging loose past her waist for a cozier, more generous feel.

If wool texture feels like too much work today, flat color with one lighter streak down the center of the scarf reads as knit texture just fine at this scale.

Palette: Cherry Red,Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey,Cream

For more cold weather pose ideas to pair with this one, the winter drawing ideas collection has plenty of bundled-up figures to study.

Pick up the pace with a slow-motion hallway collision with a stack of folders sliding to the floor, both characters mid-stumble, papers scattered in an arc between them. Block the collision point first as the center of the page, then build both bodies leaning away from each other at opposite diagonals, arms flailing slightly for balance.

Draw the falling folders and loose papers as a handful of simple rectangles and curved sheets caught mid-fall, not too many, six or seven pieces is plenty to suggest a full stack without cluttering the composition.

Perspective matters more here than in most of these scenes: keep both figures at the same eye level and the papers falling convincingly downward with a hint of motion lines trailing upward from where they left the stack, that upward trail is what sells the idea of a sudden collision rather than a calm drop.

If full-body poses feel ambitious today, crop tighter on just the upper bodies and the falling papers between them, the collision still reads clearly without needing complete legs and feet.

Palette: Cream,Payne’s Grey,Sky Blue,Soft Rose Pink

Slow back down for a quiet solo scene: a girl in a puffy padded coat waiting under a streetlamp in light snow, hands tucked into her sleeves, breath visible in the cold air. Place the streetlamp as a strong vertical anchor slightly off-center, then build her figure leaning against or standing just beside its base, lit from above in a soft warm pool of light.

Work the lamplight itself before her coat: a loose circle of cream fading into the darker blue night around it, so her figure sits believably inside that glow rather than floating on a flat background.

Light source is the whole trick in this one. Keep her face and the top of her coat brightest where the lamp hits directly, and let color fade cooler and darker as it moves down toward her feet, that single gradient does more for mood than any amount of detail would.

No streetlamp reference handy? A single tall pole shape with a round glowing top reads instantly, you do not need an ornate lamppost design.

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Cream,Sky Blue,Soft Rose Pink

Add some humor with a rich heir in a suit eating street tteokbokki for the first time, chopsticks awkward in his grip, a paper cup of rice cakes held slightly too far from his tailored suit. Draw the suit first since its crisp lines contrast everything else in the scene, sharp lapels and a straight collar, then let the street food cart and cup feel looser and more casual by comparison.

Keep his expression genuinely surprised rather than disgusted, eyebrows raised, mouth slightly open, this is a scene about delight sneaking past someone’s guard, not about distaste.

Color the tteokbokki in warm cherry red sauce coating a few soft cylindrical rice cake shapes, that red should be the brightest, most saturated color on the page against his otherwise muted suit tones.

If suits feel intimidating to draw, simplify to three shapes: a straight-edged jacket, a visible collar triangle, and one button, that reads as “sharp suit” without needing tailoring detail.

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Cherry Red,Cream,Soft Rose Pink

Settle into something calmer with a couple sharing earphones on the last subway train home, heads tilted toward each other, one earbud each, the subway window dark behind them. Draw both heads close together first, almost touching, with the earphone wire looping between them as the single connecting line that makes the whole gesture read.

Keep the subway interior minimal: a horizontal handrail, a hint of seat, and a dark window behind them is enough, since the real subject is the closeness between the two heads, not the train itself.

The ten minute version of this scene is just the two heads, the wire, and a plain dark background. Given forty minutes, add tired slumped shoulders, a bag resting against a leg, and a faint reflection in the window glass for extra atmosphere.

If wires look stiff, curve the earphone cable with a gentle sag between their heads rather than a straight line, gravity makes real cables droop slightly even between two close points.

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Soft Rose Pink,Sky Blue,Cream

Step outside into open air for two childhood friends sitting on playground swings at dusk, both seated low, chains drawn as simple parallel lines up to a horizontal swing frame above. Build the swing set structure first as a few straight lines, since getting that frame right makes both figures sit convincingly within it rather than floating in front of it.

Keep both poses relaxed and slightly swaying, one leg extended forward, the other tucked under the seat, rather than upright and stiff, swings almost never hold a perfectly straight posture.

Light at dusk sits low and warm, so let a soft cream and rose glow wash across the side of each face and the swing chains facing that direction, while the opposite side cools toward sky blue and grey. That single warm-cool split across the scene does most of the mood work.

Vary this one next time by swapping dusk for a daytime version with brighter cream and mint tones, same pose, completely different feeling.

Palette: Soft Rose Pink,Cream,Sky Blue,Payne’s Grey

Add some playful tension with a girl hiding behind a pillar to spy on her crush holding flowers, only half her face and one eye visible around the edge, the boy in the background unaware, flowers held loosely at his side. Draw the pillar first as a simple vertical rectangle close to the foreground, then tuck her figure mostly behind it, just a sliver of face and one hand gripping the edge.

Keep the boy in the background smaller and softer in detail, since he is the thing being watched, not the focus of the drawing, the real subject is her reaction.

Comparison is the trick to get right here: her visible eye should be noticeably larger in proportion to how much face shows, wide-eyed and a little comic, that exaggeration is what makes “spying” read instantly rather than just “standing near a wall.”

No pillar to draw convincingly? A simple door frame or the edge of a bookshelf works exactly the same way, any vertical edge she can peek around tells the same story.

Palette: Soft Rose Pink,Mint,Cream,Payne’s Grey

Bring in some warmth and comedy with a grandmother scolding the hero while secretly refilling his rice bowl, her finger pointed and her mouth open mid-lecture, her other hand already scooping more rice into his bowl without him noticing. Draw her pointing hand and his half-amused, half-guilty expression first, since that contrast between stern words and generous actions is the whole joke.

Keep her posture slightly bent forward, apron visible, hair pulled back simply, these small cues read as “grandmother” instantly without needing an aged, detailed face.

Sit both figures at a low table rather than a tall dining chair setup, floor seating is more common in this kind of scene and immediately sets a warmer, more domestic tone than a restaurant table would.

If hands mid-scoop feel tricky, simplify to a rounded rice scoop shape tilted over the bowl with a few small rice grains suggested rather than drawn individually, that shorthand reads clearly at this scale.

Palette: Cream,Soft Rose Pink,Mint,Payne’s Grey

Get moving again with a boy teaching a girl to ride a bike on an empty riverside path, his hand steadying the back of the seat as she wobbles forward, both faces concentrating hard. Build the bike first at a slight tilt rather than perfectly upright, since a wobbly first ride almost never sits level, then place her figure gripping the handlebars with visible tension in her shoulders.

His running pose trailing just behind the seat should lean forward slightly, one hand extended to the seat, the other arm swinging for balance as he jogs alongside.

Comparing the two figures’ heights against the bike frame keeps this one from looking off: her seated height should sit roughly level with his chest as he runs beside her, if he towers far above the whole bike the scale reads wrong immediately.

Swap the river path for a quiet neighborhood street next time you draw this pair, same pose, same lesson, a completely different backdrop.

Palette: Sky Blue,Mint,Cream,Soft Rose Pink

Return to a cold-weather gesture with a boy holding out a paper bag of roasted sweet potatoes on a winter street, steam curling up from the open bag, his other hand tucked in his coat pocket against the cold. Draw the paper bag first, slightly crumpled at the top, a few rounded sweet potato shapes just visible inside, then build his offering gesture extending it toward the viewer or toward a second figure just out of full frame.

Keep the steam here sparser than the ramen scene, just one or two soft curling lines, since it is rising from a smaller opening and should feel like a gentle warmth rather than a bowl’s worth of heat.

Edges matter for the sweet potatoes themselves: a light dry brush texture with your marker’s chisel tip across the skins, dragged quickly rather than filled solid, suggests that slightly charred roasted surface without extra linework.

No roasted sweet potato reference in mind? Think of them as elongated, slightly lumpy ovals in warm cherry red and cream, the paper bag crumple does most of the storytelling anyway.

Palette: Cherry Red,Cream,Payne’s Grey,Soft Rose Pink

Build some drama with a rival splashing a glass of water at the heroine in a fancy restaurant, the arc of water frozen mid-splash between them, her flinching back slightly, the rival’s arm already following through. Draw the water arc first as a loose, translucent curved shape with a few scattered droplets trailing behind it, since getting that shape convincing early anchors the whole composition.

Keep the restaurant setting simple, a white tablecloth corner and a wine glass or two is plenty, the real energy belongs entirely to the two faces and that arc of water between them.

Edges on the water itself are the trick worth practicing: leave some areas of the splash as bare white paper rather than fully coloring them, with just a thin sky blue line tracing the curve, that untouched white is what makes water look wet rather than solid.

If a dynamic splash feels hard to commit to, a few scattered droplet dots flying off the main arc sell motion just as well as a fully rendered splash would.

Palette: Sky Blue,Cream,Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey

Cool back down with a boy waiting outside her apartment with two cups of hot cocoa, one held out toward the door, his breath visible in the cold air, marshmallows peeking over both cup rims. Sketch the apartment entrance as a simple door and a step first, then place him standing just to one side, weight shifted slightly, both cups held carefully in front of him.

Color the cocoa cups last so the small marshmallow details and the faint steam rising from each one stay the brightest, warmest spot on an otherwise cool-toned night page.

The quick ten minute version is just his upper body and the two cups, cropped close. With forty minutes, add the full door, a porch light glow, and a dusting of snow on the step for a fuller scene.

No marshmallows on hand to reference? A few small overlapping circles poking just above the cup rim reads instantly, no need for individual texture.

Palette: Cherry Red,Cream,Payne’s Grey,Soft Rose Pink

Pair this one with the hot chocolate drawing ideas list for more mug and marshmallow details worth stealing.

Try a confined, funny setup next: a couple stuck in an elevator pretending not to look at each other, both facing forward stiffly, eyes sliding sideways toward each other without turning their heads. Draw the elevator interior first as a simple boxed frame with a visible floor number panel, then place both figures standing a careful distance apart, shoulders squared forward.

Keep their eyes doing all the work here: pupils shifted to the corner of the eye shape while the head stays perfectly front-facing, that tiny mismatch between head direction and eye direction is exactly what reads as “trying not to look.”

If faces at this exact angle feel stiff, loosen the shoulders slightly instead, a tiny asymmetry between the two postures, one a bit more tense than the other, adds personality without needing complicated facial detail.

No elevator panel reference needed, a plain rectangle with a few small dots or lines suggesting buttons is enough, the real comedy lives entirely in those two sideways glances.

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Cream,Soft Rose Pink,Sky Blue

Bring back some motion with a girl tripping backward and being caught by the hero in slow motion, her body arched back, his arm sweeping under her shoulders, both faces close and startled. Build this one from the arc of her spine first, a strong backward curve, then fit his supporting arm underneath it as the structural line holding the whole pose together.

Keep one of her legs lifted slightly off the ground and the other still planted, that asymmetry is what separates a convincing “mid-fall” pose from a static reclining one.

Motion lines help again here, just a few short trailing strokes off her lifted foot and loose hair, kept sparse so they read as speed rather than clutter, exactly the same restraint that worked in the airport running scene.

If the backward arch feels anatomically tricky, simplify by exaggerating the curve more than feels natural, dramatic slow motion poses in this genre lean into exaggeration rather than strict realism.

Palette: Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey,Cream,Sky Blue

Slow right down for a tender detail: a boy kneeling to tie a girl’s shoelace on a snowy sidewalk, one knee down on the ground, her foot lifted slightly as she balances with a hand on his shoulder for support. Draw his kneeling pose first, since the angle of that bent leg sets the whole composition, then build her balancing figure leaning into the support of his shoulder above him.

Keep both faces soft here, hers looking down at him with a small surprised smile, his focused entirely on the laces, eyes down rather than up at her.

Snow on the ground is a good place to practice lifting color rather than just adding it: lay a light grey-blue wash for the sidewalk, then dab a clean damp cloth or blender marker lightly across it to lift soft uneven patches of brightness for scattered snow texture.

No snowy sidewalk in mind? A plain pale ground with a few scattered white gel pen flecks reads as light snow just as convincingly.

You Will Need

• white gel pen

Palette: Payne’s Grey,Sky Blue,Soft Rose Pink,Cream

Zoom in tight on a small cozy gesture: a couple holding hands inside one oversized coat pocket, only the two clasped hands and a slice of coat fabric visible, cropped close rather than showing full figures. Draw the pocket opening first as a soft curved slit in the coat fabric, then tuck both hands inside it overlapping, fingers interlaced just enough to read clearly.

Keep the coat fabric around the pocket loose and slightly bunched where the hands push against it from inside, that subtle bulge is what sells the idea of two hands sharing a space meant for one.

This is a good scene for comparing scale carefully: make one hand visibly larger than the other before you interlace them, even a small size difference immediately reads as two different people rather than one hand folded oddly.

If a tight crop feels unfamiliar, sketch the full figures lightly first for reference, then erase everything outside the pocket area before inking, that keeps the hand proportions honest even in a close crop.

Palette: Cherry Red,Cream,Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey

Give the series a quieter, sadder beat with a girl crying quietly on a night bus as rain streaks the window beside her, her head turned toward the glass, one tear caught mid-track on her cheek. Draw the window first as a simple rectangle filling most of the background, then streak it with several long vertical fineliner lines before adding any color, since those rain streaks need to sit convincingly on the glass, not on her face.

Keep her expression understated, lips closed, eyes slightly downcast rather than screwed shut, quiet crying reads more believably with a still, heavy stillness than with an exaggerated sobbing expression.

The rain streaks on the glass are the texture worth focusing on: drag your marker’s chisel edge downward in quick, slightly uneven strokes, varying pressure as you go, rather than one consistent ruled line, real rain streaks never run perfectly straight.

No bus interior reference needed, a single seat back in front of her and that streaked window behind is enough to place the whole scene.

Palette: Sky Blue,Payne’s Grey,Soft Rose Pink,Cream

Build toward the quieter end of the list with a back hug at an apartment window while snow falls outside, him wrapping his arms around her from behind as she looks out, both facing the glass rather than each other. Draw the window frame first as a large vertical rectangle taking up much of the background, then build both figures close together facing it, his chin resting near her shoulder.

Keep the snow outside the glass soft and slightly blurred compared to the sharper indoor linework, that contrast between crisp interior detail and a hazier outdoor scene through glass adds real depth to the composition.

Light here should come from inside the room, warm and low, catching the near side of both faces while the window itself stays cool blue and pale, that warm-cool split across the glass line is what makes the scene feel properly indoors rather than floating in open snow.

If the embrace feels stiff, round his shoulders forward slightly and let her lean back slightly into his chest rather than standing bolt upright, that small lean is what makes a back hug look comfortable rather than posed.

Palette: Sky Blue,Cream,Soft Rose Pink,Payne’s Grey

Close the series on its most energetic note: a girl pulling her hood up and running off after a sudden kiss on the cheek, her body already turned mid-stride away from him, hood halfway up, cheeks flushed bright. Build her running pose first, knees bent, arms swinging, hood caught mid-pull so one edge still trails behind her hand, then place the boy behind her, still frozen in place, hand slightly raised where the kiss just happened.

Flush her cheeks noticeably brighter rose pink than the rest of her skin tone, that heightened blush is doing most of the emotional work in a pose where her face is partly turned away and hidden by the hood.

This is a good scene to practice varying energy next time you revisit it: try the same pose but with her laughing back over her shoulder instead of hiding, same bones, a completely different mood.

Today’s concrete tip: draw her hood fabric with one clear fold line catching the light and the rest in flat shadow, that single highlight sells “fabric in motion” faster than rendering every wrinkle.

What to Do Next

Pick whichever moment made you want to grab a pen while scrolling, sketch it loosely in pencil first, then ink it with your fineliner before the markers come out. A single sheet of marker paper and one finished scene today beats a long list of good intentions, so start small and let the next idea wait for tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What markers work best for kdrama drawing in this soft blended style?

Alcohol-based markers blend best because their pigment stays workable while wet, letting you layer soft rose pink, sky blue and mint smoothly. Dual-tip versions give both broad fills and fine detail from one pen.

Do I need to draw realistic faces for kdrama drawing scenes to work?

No, simplified expressive faces suit this style better than full realism. Focus on clear gesture, blush placement and eye direction, since those small cues carry the emotion more than detailed features ever would.

How do I keep two characters from looking like separate drawings pasted together?

Overlap them physically, through a touching hand, a shared scarf or interlocking poses, and unify them with one consistent light source. Shared contact and shared lighting are what make a scene read as one moment.

What paper should I use under alcohol markers for this kind of scene?

Marker paper or a blending-specific pad prevents feathering and keeps colors from bleeding through to the next page. Regular printer paper works in a pinch but soaks up color unevenly and bleeds faster.

How do I add snow or rain without it looking like scattered dots?

Vary the size and spacing of each flake or streak rather than repeating one uniform shape, and keep most of the background paper untouched around them. A white gel pen added last over dry marker keeps edges crisp.
