Table of Contents
An ireland junk journal gives you a whole country in soft green light: thatched roofs, red doors, sheep leaning into stone walls and cliffs over a grey sea. This kit has twenty scene pages to tell that story, four seamless background papers for covers and pockets, and five lined writing pages for the words you want to keep alongside them.
Print everything on heavyweight matte paper, 24 to 32 lb, so the colour stays rich and the sheets hold up to glue without curling. Use your printer’s best or photo setting, check the paper size against your journal before running the whole set, and trim close to the edge once the ink is dry.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Countryside And Field Pages
Tuck a short note about a trip you hope to take someday right beside the red door, or glue in a small pressed flower from your own garden to sit among the painted roses.
Pair this page with the shamrock toss background to line a pocket behind it, so a faint green pattern peeks out from under the hills whenever the page is lifted.
The usual mistake here is painting the cliffs flat and losing the sense of height, so if you are colouring this one in by hand, shade the rock face darker near the base and let the top catch more light.
Puffins perched on the ledges and sea pinks growing from the cracks keep the eye moving, while the crashing waves below do the rest of the work.
Cottage And Hearth Pages
Good for the grandmother or aunt in a gift journal, this page suits anyone who loves a quiet evening more than an outing, and leaves room to write what she likes to read by the fire.
Glue a small recipe card for soda bread onto this page, written out by hand or clipped from a family one, tucked just under the edge of the jug of daisies.
Countryside And Field Pages
A field of shamrocks holds a stone well and a white horse grazing nearby, with low hills rolling softly behind them under a pale sky.
Five minutes is enough for this one: glue it straight in, skip any extra trimming of the edges, and let the wildflowers around the cross stand as the only decoration the page needs.
Place this page opposite the green hills and rainbow page in a spread, so the two skies echo each other and the castle seems to rise just beyond the sheep on the facing sheet.
An Aran sweater folded on a windowsill with a wool cap and a basket of knitting beside it makes a quiet, detailed page for anyone who loves texture and handwork.
Tear the top edge of this page by hand before gluing it in, so the roofline of the coloured houses looks as if it has weathered a little, just like the small boats below it.
Write the name of a favourite tune or song along the edge of this page, or leave a blank line for whoever receives the journal to add their own.
A Connemara pony grazes beside a still lake with heather growing along the shore, hills rising softly in the distance under a pale sky.
Beginners can glue this one in flat and whole; anyone more confident can cut a small window flap over the lighthouse lamp and tuck a line about guidance or hope underneath it.
This still life of lace, cameo and teacup on linen suits a journal built for an heirloom story, a grandmother’s name, or a wedding day remembered through small things rather than big ones.
Stacked turf beside a small cottage and a donkey carrying baskets make a quiet working scene, set against open bog land under a wide, pale sky.
Keep a running list on a slip of paper tucked behind this page of every colourful door you want to notice on a future trip, brass knocker and flower pot included.
Countryside And Field Pages
Pair this page with the Celtic knot background to line the inside cover of a themed section, letting the woven pattern show faintly behind the tower when the page is held to the light.
Foxgloves and fuchsia hedges line a narrow country lane that curves gently out of sight, painted under soft daylight with hedgerows pressing close on either side.
Fitting for a wedding or anniversary section, this page of a Claddagh ring and shamrocks on a lace handkerchief pairs well with the wedding journal pages for anyone building a bridal keepsake alongside this one.
A sheepdog moves a small flock down a narrow lane between high hedges, its low crouching stance and the sheep’s bunched huddle telling the whole story without a single extra detail.
Background Papers
Small shamrocks scattered evenly across the page make this background suit a pocket lining, a cover wrap, or a border behind a photo of a garden or a green hillside.
This woven Celtic knot pattern works well as a journal cover, a wrap for a gift, or a lining behind the harp and fiddle page for anyone building a music-themed spread.
Rows of cable knit stitching run edge to edge on this page, a natural match for a pocket behind the Aran sweater page or a soft cover for a winter section.
A soft green plaid scattered with small clover suits a cover sheet, a pocket lining behind the cottage pages, or a simple backing for photos taken on a green hillside.
Lined Writing Pages
A small Celtic knot fills each corner of this page, leaving the ruled lines free for a travel wish list, a family story passed down, or a note to read again next year.
A shamrock vine winds gently around the edge of this page, good for a gift list, a packing list for a trip, or a letter written to be opened next year.
A low stone wall with a few sheep along the bottom edge frames the lines above, ready for a menu, a countryside walk log, or a short letter to a friend back home.
A harp runs down one side of this page in a slender border, suited to a favourite verse, a song lyric worth keeping, or a note about a trip still being planned.
A Claddagh heart frames the whole page in a light border, a fitting spot for a love letter, a wedding vow kept for later, or a list of names worth remembering.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for an ireland junk journal kit?
Heavyweight matte paper, 24 to 32 lb, works best for this kit. It takes watercolour-style colour well without letting ink through, holds up to glue and folding, and still feels light enough to sit nicely in a handmade journal.
What printer settings give the clearest colour?
Use your printer’s best or photo quality setting on plain or matte paper for the clearest colour. Check the paper size and margins before printing the full set, since a test page saves ink and paper if anything needs adjusting.
What size should the pages be cut to?
Most home journals use A5 or a standard half-letter trim, so size the pages to match your journal before printing the whole set. Trim close to the edge with small detail scissors once the ink has fully dried.
Can these pages be coloured in or altered by hand?
Yes, every page can be coloured further, shaded or left exactly as printed. A fine-tip pen works well for adding journaling directly onto the lined pages or along the border of a scene page.
What glue is safe for assembling the pages?
An acid-free glue stick is the safest choice for assembling these pages into a journal. It keeps the paper flat, avoids wrinkling thinner sheets, and will not yellow or weaken the paper over time.
