These free printable Christmas gift tags give you seventeen sheets of classic tag shapes, each one dressed with a single small seasonal detail and a wide blank space left open for a name. Holly sprigs, brass bells, poinsettias, pinecones and sleigh bells all make an appearance, so a whole stack of presents under the tree can each get a tag that suits it, from a jar of cocoa mix to a box of handmade cards.
Print the sheets on matte printable sticker paper if you want the tags to stick straight onto ribbon or string, or use plain cardstock and a glue stick if you would rather punch a hole and thread them. Print at actual size rather than letting the printer scale the page, and cut around each tag leaving a thin white border so the ink edge never looks cropped.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Classic Holly Set
Four tags open the set: a scalloped tag with a holly sprig in one corner, a luggage tag with a brass bell, a round tag with a red star and a ticket label with a candy cane, each leaving most of the page empty for a name or a short line to the person receiving the gift.
Print this sheet on plain cardstock if you want to write with a fountain pen, since sticker paper can resist ink more than fibre-based paper does. If you plan to stick the tags straight onto a box instead of threading them, sticker paper saves a step, skipping the need for tape or glue altogether entirely here.
An arched tag carries a tiny pine wreath, a rectangular label holds a sprig of mistletoe, a round tag has a single pinecone and an oval tag is finished with a cluster of red winterberries, four small motifs that all sit comfortably together on gifts wrapped in plain brown paper.
A luggage tag shows a snowy fir branch, a round tag carries a single gold ornament ball and a ticket label is finished with a peppermint swirl, pairing well with the Christmas cabin junk journal pages if you are building a matching set of wrapping and journaling supplies this season.
Tea Table Tags
An oval tag blooms with a poinsettia, a bookmark strip trails a garland of tiny fairy lights, a square tag shows a star-shaped cookie and a round tag is finished with a perched cardinal, a cheerful mix that pairs naturally with the Christmas flowers junk journal pages for anyone layering botanical details into a holiday journal.
These four work well on baking gifts especially, from a plate of cookies left for a neighbour to a jar of mulled spice mix. Leave the bookmark strip whole rather than folding it, since its long shape also suits slipping into a wrapped book as a small extra.
A stocking-shaped tag shows a white cuff, a round tag carries two sleigh bells tied together and a scalloped label is finished with a sprig of cedar, three shapes that sit well on gifts for children and grown-ups alike under one tree.
A mitten-shaped tag carries a single snowflake, a luggage tag holds a steaming cocoa mug, a round tag shows a striped parcel and a ticket label is finished with a robin resting on a twig, four small scenes that read like a cosy winter afternoon laid out on paper.
Try writing a short wish rather than just a name on these, since the blank space is generous enough for a line or two. Something as simple as “warm wishes” or “for cocoa evenings” turns a plain gift tag into a small note worth keeping.
Sweet Treat Tags
A tree-shaped tag wears a gold star on top, a rectangular label shows a dish of sugared plums, a hexagon tag frames a tiny snow globe and a circle label is finished with an amaryllis bloom, giving you shapes for gifts from the kitchen and gifts from the craft table alike.
A banner label carries a sprig of eucalyptus and berries, a round tag shows a vintage glass bauble and a scalloped tag is finished with a tiny wooden sled, a trio that leans a little vintage and pairs naturally with handmade cards built from the ideas in Christmas card doodles.
A house-shaped tag has one lit window, a luggage tag holds a kettle of mulled cider, a round tag shows an orange slice studded with cloves and a ticket label carries a bundle of cinnamon sticks, four warm little scenes suited to anything spiced or simmered as a gift.
Cut around the house roofline slowly, since the angled edges are the fiddliest part of this sheet. A craft knife on a cutting mat gives a cleaner point than scissors can manage on a sharp corner like that one.
Toybox Tags
A star-shaped tag has a gold glitter edge, an oval tag shows a reindeer head, a square tag carries a nutcracker soldier and a bookmark strip trails a holly garland, a playful set that suits gifts for the younger people on the list this year.
A scalloped label shows a church bell, a round tag carries a white dove and a rectangular label is finished with a candle glowing in a brass holder, three quieter shapes for gifts that lean more peaceful than playful.
A cloud tag has falling snow drifting across it, a luggage tag shows a pair of ice skates, a round tag carries a knitted hat and an arched tag is finished with a cheerful snowman face, four shapes that work well on any gift tied up for a day out in the cold.
If you are making the five-minute version of this sheet, just cut the round tag and the cloud tag and save the other two shapes for later. A small stack of pre-cut tags in a drawer makes late wrapping sessions much quicker.
Kitchen Table Tags
A ticket label shows a corner of plaid scarf, a round tag carries a holly-trimmed teapot, an oval tag holds a plate of mince pies and a square tag is finished with a sugar bowl, giving you a full set of tags for a kitchen full of baking and tea.
A luggage tag carries a toy train engine, a round tag shows a rocking horse and a scalloped tag is finished with a little drum, three nostalgic toy shapes that pair nicely with the sketches in Christmas doodles for beginners if you want to draw a matching card by hand.
A stamp-edged label frames a snowy chapel, an oval tag holds a glowing lantern, a round tag carries a sprig of rosemary and a bracket label is finished with frosted acorns, a quieter countryside set that suits gifts wrapped in plain kraft paper and twine.
Cosy Finishing Tags
A flag tag has a red and white striped edge, a round tag carries a gingham heart ornament, a square tag shows a simple pine sprig and a luggage tag is finished with a bowl of cranberries, pairing well with the cardinal and robin motifs in Christmas birds junk journal pages if birds are already a running theme in your journal this year.
A circle label shows a Christmas rose, a luggage tag carries a blue jay perched on a pine twig, a scalloped tag holds a silver spinning top and a rectangular label is finished with a cup of eggnog, four last motifs that close out the set on a quiet, pretty note.
Use this sheet for the gifts going to the people you have left until last, since its soft rose and jay make it feel a little more special than a plain holly tag. A dab of glue at the back corner is enough to keep it from curling once it is tied on.
What to Do Next
Download the sheets, print the ones that suit this year’s gifts first, and keep the rest on hand for cards and journal pages once the wrapping is done.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for printing these gift tags?
Matte printable sticker paper works best if you want the tags to stick straight onto a box without glue. Plain white cardstock is the better choice if you prefer to punch a hole and thread the tag with string instead.
What printer settings should I use?
Print at actual size, not fit to page, so the tags come out the intended size for writing names on comfortably. Choose the matte or cardstock paper setting in the print dialog for crisper colour on either paper type.
How do I cut out tags with curved or pointed edges?
Scissors handle gentle curves like round and oval tags easily enough for most shapes here. A small craft knife on a cutting mat gives a cleaner result on sharp points, like the star tag or the house roofline.
Can I write on these tags with any pen?
Fine tip pens and gel pens both work well on plain cardstock, while sticker paper can resist ink slightly more. Test your pen on a corner of the sheet first if you plan to write a longer message than just a name.
How many tags does this set actually give me?
Seventeen sheets give close to sixty individual tags once every shape is cut out, enough for a full season of wrapping. Print extra copies of any favourite sheet if one design suits most of the gifts on your list.
