Table of Contents
A strawberry junk journal is the sweetest way to hold onto berry season long after the patch is picked clean: twenty scene pages carry you from the field to the kitchen table, four seamless backgrounds give you paper for covers and pockets, and four lined pages wait for your own notes on the best jam batch yet.
Print the whole kit on matte cardstock (around 24 to 32 lb holds up to glue and tape without curling) and set your printer to its best or highest quality setting for crisp colour. Trim each sheet to your journal size once it is dry, and keep a few off-cuts for smaller tucked-in pieces.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
In the Berry Patch
Out in the sun, a woven picking basket sits half full beside a straw hat, with low strawberry rows stretching toward a soft blue sky behind them.
Glue in a pressed leaf or a real ticket stub from a farm visit here, tucked along the bottom edge where the apron hem sits.
A girl gathers ripe berries into the front of her apron, bent among green plants, with more rows and a fence fading into the field behind her.
Pair this page with the gingham background paper from this set, slipping a strip of it behind the sink window as a curtain.
A colander of freshly picked strawberries sits under a garden tap, water still beaded on the fruit, with a sunny windowsill and leafy plants painted around it.
The usual trap here is leaving the leaves too plain; add a few water spots and one curled edge so the greenery feels alive, not flat.
A ladybug rests on a ripe strawberry tucked among broad green leaves, with smaller unripe berries and a soft garden wash painted behind.
Write a short note to whoever keeps your garden honest: what grew well this year, and what the birds got to first.
This page suits anyone building a small patio garden, so it fits well in a gift journal for a friend who just moved somewhere sunny.
A terracotta tower pot holds trailing strawberry plants heavy with fruit, set on a patio with a watering can and a few loose terracotta saucers nearby.
Five minutes is enough: glue this one in whole, skip any extra tucked pieces, and let the painted doorway carry the page on its own.
A hanging basket spills strawberry vines beside a cottage door, with a watering can on the step and climbing roses painted around the frame.
Tuck a handwritten price tag or a paper bag scrap onto this one, right along the front edge of the stand where a real sign would sit.
Wooden flats of strawberries line a farm stand table, with woven baskets stacked beside them and a hand-painted sign leaning against one leg.
At the Table
Slip in the recipe you actually use for the biscuit here, folded small enough to tuck under the plate’s painted edge.
A slice of strawberry shortcake sits on a vintage plate with whipped cream and a sprig of mint, a teacup and lace cloth painted behind it.
Which spread does this one belong in: the one before it or the one after? Place it beside the shortcake page so cream and crust sit side by side.
A simple bowl of strawberries and cream sits on a porch table in dappled afternoon light, with a folded napkin and a small spoon resting beside it.
The common mistake with this one is making every berry identical; vary the chocolate drizzle on three or four so the stand reads as handmade.
A tiered cake stand holds chocolate dipped strawberries, with loose pink roses tucked around the base and a lace runner painted beneath it.
This page suits a baker friend best in a gift journal, someone who already knows the smell of a kitchen on tart day.
Small strawberry tarts cool on a wire rack in a sunny kitchen, with a rolling pin and scattered flour painted across the counter behind them.
What would this cake celebrate in your own year: a birthday, a good harvest, or simply a Tuesday that needed something sweet?
Try a torn edge along the bottom of this page, as if it were pulled from a nature notebook rather than cut clean.
A chipped teacup holds a handful of wild strawberries set on a mossy forest log, with ferns and dappled woodland light painted around it.
Jam and Kitchen Pages
Jars of strawberry jam cool along a kitchen windowsill in the afternoon sun, their lids still loose and a few spoons resting on the sill beside them.
Glue in your own jam label or a strip of kitchen string here, right along the edge where the bowls of stems and berries meet.
A paring knife and two bowls sit on a kitchen table, one holding hulled strawberries and the other the trimmed green caps, a checked cloth painted underneath.
Afternoons and Drinks
A glass pitcher of strawberry lemonade sits with sliced berries and ice floating inside, condensation beading down the sides on a warm afternoon.
For readers who enjoy a touch of mid century charm, this one pairs nicely with the pink junk journal pages for a milkshake-pink spread.
Two tall strawberry milkshakes with striped straws sit on a soda fountain counter, with stools and a checkerboard floor painted behind the glasses.
If you are also planning pages for little ones, the Peter Rabbit junk journal set makes a cheerful companion kit for a child’s garden journal.
Two children sit on a garden step with sticky fingers, a bowl of strawberries between them and a watering can and flower pots painted nearby.
Background Papers
Tiny strawberries and white blossoms repeat across a soft cream ground, perfect for lining a pocket, backing a photo, or wrapping a small gift inside the journal.
Red and white gingham checks carry scattered strawberries across every square, a strong choice for a journal cover or a picnic-themed pocket lining.
Little cross-section strawberry slices scatter over a soft pink ground, light enough to sit behind handwriting or line the inside of a jam-themed envelope page.
Trailing strawberry vines and leaves wind across a mint green ground, a calm choice for a cover page or for backing a pressed flower in the journal.
Lined Writing Pages
A trailing strawberry vine runs along the top border above faint ruled lines, ready for a picking log, a list of this week’s harvest, or a short letter to next year’s garden self.
A small woven basket of strawberries sits in one corner beside faint ruled lines, good for a gift list, a jam recipe, or notes from a market morning.
Strawberry blossoms and berries frame all four sides of faint ruled lines, suited to a menu for a berry supper, a thank you note, or a page of favourite jam flavours.
A row of small jam jars lines the bottom border beneath faint ruled lines, ideal for a canning log, a letter to next year, or a short strawberry season diary entry.
What to Do Next
Print the set, trim the sheets to your journal size, and start with whichever page matches today’s weather, be it a picking basket page for a sunny morning or a jam jar page for a rainy afternoon at the stove.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a strawberry junk journal?
Matte cardstock around 24 to 32 lb works best, since it takes glue and tape without curling or showing through. Plain printer paper is fine for lined pages you plan to write on lightly.
What printer settings give the best colour?
Set the printer to its best or highest quality photo setting, choosing matte or plain paper in the driver rather than glossy. This keeps the reds and pinks clear without oversaturating.
What size should I print the pages?
Full letter or A4 size suits most journals, then trim down to fit smaller covers. Print a test page first to check your trim line against your actual journal size.
Can I colour or add to these pages myself?
Yes, a light coloured pencil or gel pen works well over the printed watercolour for extra shading or highlights. Keep additions light so the original palette still shows through.
What do I need to glue the pages into a journal?
An acid free glue stick or double sided tape holds pages in cleanly without wrinkling the paper. Scissors or a paper trimmer help square up edges before gluing each sheet in.
