Table of Contents
This peony junk journal kit gathers big ruffled blooms in blush, coral and white across garden beds, farmhouse tables, florist workbenches and armfuls of bouquets ready for a vase. Inside you get 20 scene pages full of peony moments, 4 seamless background papers for covers and pockets, and 4 lined writing pages with floral borders for your own notes.
Print everything on matte cardstock heavy enough to take glue without curling, and set your printer to its best or photo quality so the petals stay crisp. Trim close to the edge if your printer leaves a white margin, then the colour runs edge to edge once it is glued into the journal.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Vase and Table Moments
Soft blush peonies lean out of a crystal vase next to a teapot set on a lace runner, the kind of page that opens a journal full of quiet afternoons.
Pair this one with the ruffled peony row lined page later in the set: glue this scene on the left, the lined border on the right, and the spread reads as one farmhouse moment.
An armful of coral peonies rests on a farmhouse table beside a pair of scissors and stray leaves, waiting to be trimmed and placed in water.
White peonies fill an ironstone pitcher set on a windowsill, with a lace curtain, a small dish of buttons and a sliver of garden visible through the glass behind them.
The usual mistake with a quiet page like this is leaving too much bare table around the jar, which flattens the whole scene.
Keep the stack of linen napkins close behind the jar and let a folded corner overlap the glass, so the peony and the linen read as one still life rather than two separate objects.
Peonies and roses fill a silver urn standing on a velvet runner, with candle stubs, a strand of pearls and a folded place card arranged close around the base.
Garden and Porch Scenes
This page suits a reader working on a garden-lover’s gift journal, someone who spends her weekends on her knees in the flower beds.
A wooden bench sits beside a bed of ruffled peonies, with a straw sun hat left on the seat, a trowel in the soil and a watering can close by.
Try a five minute version of this page: paint just the row of buds along the path edge and the single ant, skip the wider garden, and the page still feels complete on its own.
A rocking chair sits on a cottage porch beside pots of ruffled peonies, with a folded quilt over the chair arm and a pair of garden clogs by the door.
If you want extra texture, tea-stain the edges of this page before gluing it in, it pairs beautifully with the softened, lived-in feel of a porch corner.
A tree peony blooms in full ruffled form beside a stone garden lantern, with moss at its base and a scatter of fallen petals across the path stones.
A row of peonies grows thick along a white picket fence, with a watering can left in the grass and a butterfly resting on one open bloom near the gate.
Small Garden Treasures
A ladybug rests on a single pink peony petal still wet from rain, with a few more petals scattered beneath and tiny droplets caught along the curled edges.
Write the name of a new kitten, or the date she came home, somewhere along the edge of this page, it turns a pretty scene into a keepsake.
A kitten peeks out from behind a woven basket crowded with blush peonies, with one paw resting on the basket rim and a ribbon trailing loose beside it.
Peony petals lie scattered across a vanity table set with a strand of pearls and a hand mirror, with a glass perfume bottle and a lace handkerchief close by.
Pair this scene with the tiny blush peonies pattern from this set as a pocket lining behind a tea party photo, the pale colours sit together without fighting for attention.
A peony wreath hangs on a white front door, tied with a trailing ribbon, with a small welcome mat below and a potted plant standing to one side of the step.
Market and Florist Life
A question for the entry on this page: where would you ride to, if the whole afternoon was free and the basket was already full of flowers.
A peony bouquet rides in the basket of a bicycle parked on a cobbled street, with a striped awning and a café chair just visible behind the wheel.
The usual mistake here is painting the workbench too tidy, which loses the busy florist feeling this page is meant to have.
Let a few loose stems, a ball of twine and a pair of shears sit untidily beside the roll of kraft paper, and the scene feels like a real workbench mid task.
Neat rows of peonies stretch across a flower farm field, with a red barn standing at the far edge and a wooden crate of cut stems left near the nearest row.
Celebration Pages
A line of mismatched teacups holds single peony stems along a mantel, with a small clock, a framed photo and a candle set between the cups.
This page suits the bride in a gift journal, or anyone planning a wedding of her own, it is built for keeping notes on flowers and table settings.
A wedding table holds peony centerpieces and lit candles, with place cards, folded napkins and a scatter of loose petals laid along the runner.
Background Papers
Small blush peonies repeat in a scattered pattern across cream paper, ideal behind a photo of your own garden, as a pocket lining, or wrapped around a plain journal cover.
Coral peony heads float in loose rows across a soft mint background, good under a bouquet photo, folded into an envelope, or used as the inside cover of the journal.
Closed peony buds and small leaves trail in a quiet pattern across pale pink paper, suited to a pocket for pressed petals, a journal spine wrap, or a soft divider page.
White peonies sit in a calm repeating pattern across dusty blue paper, lovely behind a black and white photo, as a journal cover, or lining the inside of a gift box.
Lined Writing Pages
A loose peony bouquet fills one corner of this lined page, leaving the ruled lines open for a gift list, a letter to next year, or notes from a garden visit.
A row of ruffled peonies runs along the bottom edge of this lined page, perfect for a recipe copied from a grandmother, a seasonal menu, or a quiet daily entry.
A slim vine of peonies and buds climbs down one side of this lined page, leaving room for a packing list, a thank you note, or thoughts after a day in the garden.
A peony wreath tied with ribbon frames the whole page, leaving the center open for a wedding toast, a birthday note, or a list of flowers to plant next spring.
What to Do Next
Print the full set, sort the pages into scenes, backgrounds and lined pages, then start gluing from the first vase of blush peonies and build your garden journal one spread at a time. For more floral pages to mix in, the flower journal set and the secret garden kit both pair nicely with this one.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for printing a peony junk journal kit?
Matte cardstock around 65 to 90 lb works best, since it holds up to glue and folding without buckling. Avoid glossy photo paper, it resists glue sticks and tape and can crack along fold lines.
What printer settings give the sharpest petals and colours?
Set the printer to its highest quality or photo setting and choose the matte or cardstock paper profile if one is offered. This keeps the fine ink outlines crisp and stops the pale pastel washes from printing too light.
What size should the pages be for a junk journal?
Standard letter or A4 size works for most journals, then trim down to fit smaller handmade covers. Print a test page first and measure it against your journal before running the full set.
What should I use to colour in these pages if I want to add my own touches?
Fine tip pens, colored pencils or light watercolour washes all work well over the printed line art. Test on a scrap corner first, since some markers can bleed through thinner cardstock.
What glue is safe for gluing these pages into a journal?
An acid free glue stick is the simplest choice and keeps pages from yellowing over time. Double sided tape works well for backgrounds and pocket pages where you want a cleaner, flatter finish.
