This vintage Christmas diorama set brings back the whole look of a 1950s holiday card, nineteen tiny rooms hiding inside the kind of objects your grandmother kept on her shelf: an ornament box, a Santa mug, a boxy old television, a percolator. Every scene opens at the front like a little stage, with a kitsch figurine housewife, couple or grandma caught mid-task among aluminum trees, bubble lights and poodles underfoot.
Glue one onto a card front for a friend or a grandchild, raise it on foam dots for depth, or tuck a page into a junk journal spread about old-fashioned Christmases. Print on matte cardstock at actual size, then cut around each scene leaving a thin white edge.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Trimming The Tree
Picture the card this one makes for a friend who still hangs her grandmother’s glass baubles: an ornament box opened wide, a housewife in a full skirt hanging teal baubles on a pink aluminum tree.
A poodle waits at her feet and a snowy window glows behind her. Print two copies, cut the tree and housewife from the second sheet, and raise them on foam dots over the first for a layered box front.
warms up fast as a card for a grandmother or great-aunt: a Santa-faced mug opened like a cosy little room, an elderly lady knitting a red stocking beside the fireplace.
offers the five-minute version of this set: trim the box edges straight, skip extra inking, and glue it flat to a kraft card front for a quick batch of cards.
Inside the old boxy television a couple dances close by a tinsel tree while a small record player spins nearby and snow falls past the window behind them.
Baking And Giving
pairs naturally with a baking-themed journal spread, since it shows a housewife frosting cookies at a pastel stove inside a gingerbread house opened at the front.
works beautifully raised on foam dots over a strip of lace on a cream card base: a candy tin opened at the front shows a lady filling stockings along a mantel strung with bubble lights.
A starry sky fills the little window above her, perfect for a touch of hand-glittered gold pen once it is printed and cut.
makes a lovely pairing with the jukebox scene further down for a matching set of two cards built around dancing and skating couples from the same little winter town.
Shopping And Sending
fits a granddaughter’s junk journal spread about old toy shops, with a shopkeeper lady arranging tin robots and dolls on crowded shelves while a train set circles below.
suits a card for the friend who always sends the first Christmas card of the season: a mailbox opened at the front shows a postwoman sorting a stack of holiday cards among shelves of parcels.
anchors a cosy page in a vintage Christmas junk journal spread, the stocking opened like a little room where a grandma reads by lamplight with a kitten asleep nearby.
A decorated tree with wrapped presents glows behind her chair, giving the whole scene a warm bedtime feeling worth lingering over.
gives a housewife holding a full tray of sugar cookies beside her stand mixer, the whole scene framed inside a classic cookie tin opened at the front.
works as the quick five-minute card option too: a sleigh-shaped room holds a lady wrapping gifts in polka-dot paper beside a tall stack of finished boxes under a moonlit sky.
suits a card for a couple celebrating together, an elderly pair sharing coffee and fruitcake inside a percolator opened at the front with a wreath hung on the wall behind them.
Quiet And Reverent
brings the faith side of the season into the set: a straw-roofed stable box holds Mary and Joseph as 1950s ceramic figurines gathered around the manger, a gold star glowing in the window above.
This one suits a more reverent card for an older relative, or the center spread of a journal page about the Christmas story itself.
pairs naturally with the skating pond scene above, since both show couples caught mid-dance, this time a jukebox opened at the front with a couple slow dancing under hung mistletoe.
opens at the side rather than the front, showing a housewife loading a fresh-cut Christmas tree into the back while a dog in a knitted scarf waits beside her.
Quiet And Reverent
gives a lady trying on a feathered holiday hat at her vanity mirror, a glitter-dusted deer figurine watching from the shelf beside a frosted window, perfect for a touch of hand-applied glitter once printed.
calls for a choir of ladies singing together from hymn books inside a bell-shaped room lit by candles, with a wide starry window glowing behind them.
offers a playful detail to color by hand, the bright wreath-shaped jello mold a housewife lifts straight from a pastel refrigerator opened at the front, a cocktail shaker waiting on the counter beside her.
closes the set with a grandma setting out a plate of cookies for Santa inside a cuckoo clock opened at the front, a stocking hung from its hook and a full moon glowing through the little window.

Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a vintage Christmas diorama printable?
Matte cardstock works best because it holds crisp lines without glare. Choose a weight around 200 to 250gsm so the cut pieces stay sturdy enough to layer on foam dots without curling.
What printer settings give the sharpest colors?
Print at actual size with the highest quality or photo setting your printer offers. Choose matte or plain photo paper in the print dialog, since glossy settings on matte stock can mute the cherry red and teal tones.
How do you make a diorama look three dimensional on a card?
Print the sheet twice, then cut the foreground figures and props from the second copy. Glue the background flat to the card front, then raise the cut pieces on foam adhesive dots for real depth.
What card size fits these diorama scenes?
A standard A2 card, about 4.25 by 5.5 inches, fits most of these scenes once trimmed with a thin white edge. Square card bases around 5 by 5 inches also suit the rounder shapes like the bell or the Santa mug.
Can these dioramas go into a junk journal instead of a card?
Yes, each scene works well as a standalone journal page or as a focal image glued to a larger decorated spread. Pair two or three from the same group, such as the baking scenes, for a themed two-page layout.
