Table of Contents
These paper animal dolls bring the whole barnyard to your craft table, each one a farm character caught mid chore and mid mood. Twenty seven sheets fill out a set big enough for cards, gift tags and a whole junk journal spread, from a proud rooster with his pocket watch to a piglet splashing under a tiny umbrella.
Print on matte cardstock at actual size, then cut around each doll leaving a thin white edge so the shape stays crisp against any background paper. Keep a folder of favorites for birthday cards, farmhouse-themed gift tags and pages that need a little barnyard charm.

Morning Chores
Delighted and round-cheeked, this pig wears a gingham dress and carries a basket piled high with apples, perfect for an autumn card to a grandchild who loves the orchard.
Half asleep and still blinking, this cow in denim overalls shuffles along with a tin milk pail swinging from one hoof. Write the line “mooove slower, it’s still early” beside her on a card for anyone who struggles with mornings.
She pairs nicely with the proud rooster doll if the two share a page, since his crowing is clearly what woke her up in the first place.
Chest puffed out and beaming, this hen wears a floral apron and holds a fresh egg high overhead like a trophy, a natural fit for a congratulations card.
Mounted on foam dots so he lifts slightly off the page, this rooster struts in a tidy waistcoat, crowing with his beak wide open and a pocket watch dangling from one wing, utterly pleased with his own timing.
He gives a junk journal farmyard spread its loudest, funniest character, especially tucked beside quieter dolls like the sleepy hen or the shy lamb.
Barnyard Mischief
Wearing a battered straw hat and chewing on a daisy with a sly sideways grin, this goat is the troublemaker of the set and earns a cheeky caption on any card.
Cheeks pink and eyes lowered, this lamb in a pink pinafore clutches a soft ball of wool, the gentlest doll in the whole set. A five minute version works just as well: print small, skip the cutting detail on the pinafore ruffle, and glue straight onto a tag.
She suits a quiet get well card or a note to someone who loves to knit, especially paired with the amazed sheep holding knitting needles elsewhere in the set.
Grinning wide in a plaid shirt and holding out a carrot like an offering, this horse brings an easy, friendly energy to any thank you card.
Mid giggle with her bonnet slightly askew, this duck in polka dots swings a little pail of water, splashing drops that beg for a funny caption about a messy chore.
Stubborn and Sassy
Mouth set in a flat, unimpressed line, this donkey hauls a heavy sack of oats over one shoulder in a snug little vest, clearly done with farm chores for the day.
Glue him onto a craft stick and he becomes a small puppet for a child’s farm-themed party favor, or keep him flat for a card with a line about Mondays.
Eyes wide with wonder at her own handiwork, this sheep in a knitted cardigan holds up a pair of knitting needles, ideal for any crafting friend’s birthday card.
Feathers slightly ruffled and eyes wide with worry, this goose in a calico dress hurries along with a laundry basket balanced against her hip, clothes nearly tumbling out.
She anchors a busy laundry-day corner of a farm junk journal page nicely, especially beside a clothesline sketched in the background.
Rain boots on and laughing with delight, this little piglet splashes through a puddle under a tiny umbrella, a cheerful pick for a rainy day card to a grandchild.
County Fair Favorites
Chin held high in a crisp sunbonnet, this cow displays a blue prize ribbon pinned proudly to her chest, a natural fit for a congratulations or graduation card.
Feathers slightly flattened with nerves, this turkey in a smart bow tie clutches a corn cob like a lucky charm, unsure whether he is the star of the fair or the dinner.
Write a wry line about surviving autumn next to him for a Thanksgiving card with a bit of dark comedy, or pair him with the overjoyed pie-holding pig for a full harvest table scene.
Big eyed and curious in a simple romper, this calf holds a bottle of milk with both hooves, sweet enough for a new baby card or a nursery-themed tag.
One paw on her hip and a smirk on her face, this farm cat in overalls holds a tiny pitchfork like she owns the whole barn.
Mount her on foam dots over a plain cat-themed card for instant dimension, or use her as the bold centerpiece of a cute paper doll collection that leans more sass than sweetness.
Helpers and Herders
Standing tall with his neckerchief neatly tied, this collie holds a shepherd’s crook and gazes out like he has just rounded up every sheep on the farm.
Bouncing with excitement in a tiny cap, this chick holds a single sunflower seed with both wings as if it were buried treasure, a cheerful pick for a child’s birthday tag.
A bright ribbon braided into her mane, this pony giggles while lugging a bucket of hay nearly as big as she is, legs splayed for balance.
She works well as a five minute version too: print at a smaller size, skip the fine mane detail, and tuck her onto a gift tag for a young rider in the family.
Beaming under a tall chef’s hat, this pig holds a fresh baked pie with both hooves, steam practically rising off the crust, ideal for any baking-themed birthday card.
Stubborn Characters
Arms crossed and lower lip jutting out, this ram in a sharp tweed jacket leans on a wooden cane, utterly unwilling to budge on whatever the argument was about.
Eyes half shut and feathers soft, this hen in a quilted jacket carries a woven nest basket like she might lie right back down in it. She pairs sweetly with the proud egg hen earlier in the set, two hens at opposite ends of a long farmyard afternoon.
Use her on a cozy winter card, tucked next to a line about slow mornings and warm coops.
Mid skip with pure joy on its face, this little goat kid in a striped shirt holds up a small bell tied to a ribbon, ringing it for no reason at all except happiness.
Eyes half closed and smiling softly, this cow in a floral dress lifts a small bunch of daisies to her nose, lost entirely in the moment.
Little Ones
Standing at attention in a crisp sailor hat, this duckling holds a tiny toy boat out front like a prized possession, perfect for a child’s congratulations or new baby card.
Cap slightly crooked from the effort, this sheepdog laughs warmly while carrying a small lamb tucked against his chest, clearly pleased with the rescue. This doll makes a gentle gift tag for a new grandparent or anyone who just brought home a new pet.
Set him beside the proud collie doll for a two-dog herding scene across a spread of a paper doll project built around farm helpers.
Eyes popped wide in total disbelief, this pig in dungarees struggles to hold a pumpkin nearly as big as its whole body, perfect for a silly autumn or Halloween card.
What to Do Next
Print the whole barnyard at once or pick a handful of favorites to start, then build out cards, tags and journal pages as the mood strikes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for these paper animal dolls?
Matte cardstock works best because it holds crisp edges and takes color well without glare. Anything between 65 lb and 110 lb cardstock cuts cleanly and still folds easily for cards or tags.
What printer settings give the sharpest results?
Print at actual size with no scaling, using the highest quality or photo setting your printer offers. Turning off any automatic borderless cropping keeps every edge and pattern intact.
How do you cut out the dolls neatly?
Cut with small detail scissors or a craft knife, leaving a thin white edge around each shape rather than trimming flush to the line. That thin border keeps fine details like ears, hooves and bonnet ties from tearing.
How do you make a paper doll stand up or pop off the page?
Fold a small tab at the base and glue it to a card stock stand for a freestanding doll. For a card or journal page, lift the doll with foam adhesive dots instead so it sits slightly above the background.
Can these dolls be resized smaller for tags or larger for journal covers?
Yes, scale any doll down for a gift tag or up for a journal cover using your printer’s scale to fit setting. Check proportions on a test print first, since very small sizes can blur fine pattern details like gingham or polka dots.
