Table of Contents
This lily of the valley junk journal kit gathers the tiny white bells into one soft, printable set: shady woodland floors, glass cloches on garden tables, bridal posies tied with satin, and dressing tables scattered with pearls. The 22 scene pages carry a different corner of that world each time, the 4 seamless backgrounds give you patterned paper for covers and pockets, and the 5 lined pages leave room for your own words inside a painted border.
Print the whole set on matte white cardstock heavy enough to take glue without curling, somewhere around 24 to 32 lb, and set your printer to its best or photo quality so the fine ink lines stay crisp. Trim close to the edge if you want the scenes to sit flush against a journal page, or leave a thin white border for a handmade look.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Garden and Glasshouse Pages
Soft green ferns arch over a drift of lily of the valley here, the kind of shaded corner a woodland walk turns up without warning.
Pair this page with the woodland bells garland lined page later in the set: glue this scene on the left side of a spread and write your walk notes on the right, so the two pages read as one quiet afternoon.
Keeping a stem under glass means it never wilts: a cloche sits over a cluster of lily of the valley, the stems held still by the curve of the dome, set on a weathered garden table with a trowel and a saucer nearby.
A small bridal posy of lily of the valley, bound with a trailing satin ribbon, suits the page where you write about a wedding, a first dance or a borrowed dress.
Try the five minute version of this page: sketch just the silver cup and a few bells quickly in pencil, then wash in soft green and white, saving the pearls and table detail for when you have more time.
A terracotta pot of lily of the valley sits on a mossy stone step, watering can tipped nearby, the kind of quiet corner that never asks to be noticed.
Dressing Table Pages
The usual mistake with a dressing table scene is crowding every object the same size until nothing reads first: here the perfume bottle leads, with lily of the valley sprigs laid across a small mirrored tray and the rest kept smaller behind it.
A painted teacup rests beside a single fresh sprig of lily of the valley, a saucer catching a few fallen bells, set on a lace cloth for a quiet morning page.
Woodland Floor Pages
Here the whole clearing floor turns white, lily of the valley and moss spreading edge to edge under a soft canopy of trees, a scene worth writing a longer memory beside.
If you want a quieter version for a new journal keeper, leave out the distant trees and paint just the near carpet of bells and moss, which is easier to match with watercolour you already own.
Try tea-staining just the rim of this page before gluing it in: a wicker basket of lily of the valley on a cottage doorstep already feels old, and a softly stained edge carries that further without hiding the painted detail.
A single stem tucked into a lace glove on a dressing table makes a good page for a gift journal meant for a bride or a new grandmother, someone who still keeps gloves folded in a drawer.
What question would this page ask you to answer? Try this prompt in the margin: what small creature did you notice today that almost went unseen, the way this ladybug climbing a lily of the valley leaf nearly does.
Lily of the valley fills a milk glass vase set on a windowsill, soft light falling across the leaves and a curtain edge just visible behind it.
A small tiered cake on a pedestal stand carries sugar flower bells modeled after lily of the valley, a scene made for a wedding or anniversary page.
Glue a real cake topper ribbon or a scrap of lace beside this one if your journal is meant as a gift for someone planning a wedding this year, since the page already leaves a little open space along the base for exactly that kind of addition.
A weathered garden bench sits beside a shady bed thick with lily of the valley, the kind of corner worth returning to on every walk through a cottage garden.
Pair this page with the lily of the valley and pearl dots background later in the set, using the pattern as a pocket lining glued just behind this jewelry box scene so a locket or ring can slip inside.
Lily of the valley lines a mossy log dotted with tiny mushrooms, a woodland still life that needs only a short caption about a walk taken somewhere shaded. For more woodland floor ideas you can borrow for your own pages, the bird junk journal set covers the same kind of quiet undergrowth from a different angle.
Garden Creatures Pages
A small wren perches close to a patch of lily of the valley, head turned as if it just landed, the rest of the garden painted softly behind it. If birds keep finding their way onto your pages, the bird junk journal kit gives you a whole set built around songbirds and nests.
A sprig of lily of the valley rests in an egg cup beside a folded linen napkin, the kind of small breakfast table detail worth keeping on its own page.
A bridal veil drapes over the back of a chair with a lily of the valley bouquet resting on the seat below it, a page suited to someone keeping a wedding journal for a daughter or close friend.
A small trowel and a pair of garden gloves rest beside a scattering of lily of the valley pips, ready for planting, a page that suits a gardener who likes to note what went in the ground and when.
Lily of the valley fills a cut glass bowl set on a lace runner, light catching the facets, a page that reads well glued near the jewelry box and perfume bottle pages for a dressing table spread.
Painting dew takes patience: keep the drops small and few rather than scattering them everywhere, so a snail resting on a dew covered stone beside lily of the valley still reads clearly at a glance.
Background Papers
Small lily of the valley bells repeat in loose rows across this page, light enough to sit under a photo without fighting it, strong enough to line the inside of a pocket, and soft enough to wrap a plain journal cover.
Full lily of the valley sprigs scatter over a sage green ground here, a pattern that works well behind a garden photo, as a pocket lining for pressed leaves, or folded into a simple cover.
Open bells and slender leaves repeat gently over cream paper, light enough to sit behind a dressing table photo, line a small pocket, or wrap a soft cover for the whole journal.
Tiny pearl dots scatter between lily of the valley sprigs in this pattern, a fitting lining for a jewelry box pocket, a backing behind a wedding photo, or a cover for a bridal themed journal.
Lined Writing Pages
A slender border of lily of the valley stems runs along one side of this page, leaving faint ruled lines open for a gift list, a note tucked into a bouquet, or a short line about a garden visit.
Small sprays of lily of the valley sit in each corner here, leaving the ruled centre open for a recipe, a short letter to next year, or a list of what still needs planting.
A garland of lily of the valley and fern fronds frames the top edge of this page, the ruled lines below suited to a longer entry about a woodland walk or a quiet afternoon outdoors.
A satin ribbon winds around a frame of lily of the valley sprigs here, the open centre suited to a gift list, a short letter, or a line about who the bouquet is for.
A small bridal posy of lily of the valley sits along the bottom edge, the ruled lines above left open for a wedding note, a guest list, or a letter kept for the next anniversary.
What to Do Next
Print the set, sort the pages into the woodland, dressing table and garden groups, and start gluing the scenes you reach for first: the rest will fall into place as the journal fills up.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a lily of the valley junk journal?
Matte white cardstock around 24 to 32 lb works best for this kit. It is heavy enough to hold glue and ink without curling, and matte keeps the fine sepia outlines from glaring under light.
What printer settings give the sharpest lines?
Set your printer to its best or photo quality setting on plain or matte cardstock. Lower settings can blur the fine ink outlines on the scene pages, so avoid draft or economy modes for this kit.
What size should I print these pages?
Standard US letter or A4 suits most home printers and most journal covers. Trim the edges close for a flush fit, or leave a thin white border if you prefer a handmade deckle look.
Do I need to colour anything in myself?
No, every page already arrives in full colour and fills the sheet edge to edge. You only glue, trim, tuck items in, or write directly onto the lined pages.
What do I use to glue the pages into a journal?
A thin layer of acid free glue stick works well for flat pages and avoids the wrinkling that liquid glue can cause. Save a stronger craft glue only for heavier additions like ribbon or pressed flowers.
