This junk journal reading log gives you 29 printable pages built around one quiet theme: books, tea and the corners of a house where reading happens. Twenty scene pages cover reading chairs, bookshop windows, stacks of novels and the small objects that collect around a good book, four seamless background pages give you repeating patterns of spines and pressed leaves, and five lined writing pages leave room to log titles, authors and your own notes on each one.
Print the set on matte cardstock heavier than ordinary paper, around 24 to 32 lb, so the washes read true and the page does not curl. Set your printer to its best photo or highest quality setting, choose actual size rather than fit to page, and trim close to the edge with scissors or a paper trimmer before gluing anything into a journal.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Reading Nooks
An armchair angled toward a window holds the whole scene: a folded blanket over one arm, a stack of three books on the floor beside it, a lamp glowing against the dusk outside and a cat curled on the cushion.
Pair this page with the book spines pattern later in the set: use the pattern as a facing page so the chair seems to sit in front of a full shelf.
Glue in a real receipt from a bookshop visit or a torn corner of a paperback cover along the tray’s edge, tucked half under the teacup so it looks like it belongs there.
A low fire glows in a stone hearth while a basket of yarn, a pair of slippers and three leaning books rest on the rug in front of it, the mantel above holding a single framed photo.
If you keep a vintage junk journal already, this page slots in well beside any cottage or winter spread you have started there.
The usual mistake with a quiet object page like this is leaving too much bare paper around the lamp; keep the small table crowded gently with a book, glasses and a saucer so the eye has somewhere to rest.
Books and Tea
Five leaning novels of different heights hold a steaming teacup balanced on top, with a bookmark ribbon trailing from the middle volume and a few crumbs scattered near the base.
Write the title and the date you finished reading across the open pages in small letters, as though the book itself were the log entry for that week.
A dried flower sits pressed into the fold, its petals flattened and pale against the cream paper of the open spread, with a thin pencil tucked into the book’s spine as a marker.
Five minutes is enough for this one: glue it in flat, write your current book title along the teapot’s shadow and move on to the next page.
A plate of toast sits half eaten beside a paperback propped open with a jam jar, a folded napkin and a small vase of wildflowers filling the remaining corner of the table.
Shops and Streets
Who is this page for: give it to a reader who logs books bought on trips rather than borrowed ones, since the rain and the shop window suggest travel more than a home shelf.
Raindrops streak the glass of a small shop window stacked with books, a hanging sign swinging slightly above the door and a wet cobbled street reflecting the warm light from inside.
Place this page across from the bookshop window so the spread reads like one walk: window first, stall second, as though you turned a corner and found more books outside.
A tall wooden desk holds a stamp pad, a small bell and a neat stack of returned books, with a potted fern and a hanging clock filling the wall space behind the counter.
Tear the bottom edge of this page by hand instead of cutting it straight, so the uneven line echoes the softness of the rain falling across the street.
A figure under an open umbrella carries a book against their chest, passing lit shop windows and wet pavement reflecting the glow of a nearby lamppost.
Tea stain the edges of this page before gluing it in, so the warm tone matches the soft blur of the countryside painted past the train window.

Reading Through the Seasons
Background Papers
Use this one under a photo of your own bookshelf, as a cover for the whole journal, or as a lining behind a lined page so the spines peek past the ruled edges.
Fit this behind an autumn or spring reading page, as a cover sheet for a seasonal reading log, or cut down small to line a bookmark you tuck into the journal.
Place this one under a photo from a tea themed reading club meeting, behind a lined page for tracking tea pairings with each book, or as the journal’s inside cover.
Lined Writing Pages
Lay this behind a scene page that feels bare, use it as a cover for the whole kit, or line a pocket page elsewhere in your wider junk journaling handbook project.
Use the ruled lines to record the title, author and date started for the book you are reading now, with room below for a short line on why you picked it up.
Write a simple list of every title finished that month, one line per book, with a small column at the side for a star rating or a single word verdict.
Copy out a line that stopped you mid page, note which book it came from, and leave the last rule blank for the next quote that catches you.
List titles recommended by friends, spotted in a shop window, or saved from a library shelf, so the next reading choice is already waiting on the page.
What to Do Next
Print the pages, trim them close to the edge, and start gluing the first scene into your journal today, letting the lined pages fall wherever you are ready to start logging the next book.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for this reading log kit?
Matte cardstock between 24 and 32 lb gives the washes enough body without curling in the printer. Plain printer paper works in a pinch but feels thin once glued into a journal, and the colors print noticeably flatter on glossy stock.
What printer settings should I use?
Choose your printer’s best or photo quality setting rather than draft or normal, and set the page scale to actual size or 100 percent, never fit to page, so none of the painted edges get cropped or stretched during printing.
Can I resize the pages for a smaller journal?
Yes, shrink them to about half size for a pocket sized reading log or print them full size for a standard A5 or letter journal. Keep the aspect ratio locked in your print dialog so the scenes do not stretch or squash.
Do I need to color or paint anything myself?
No, every page prints fully finished in color and is ready to trim and glue in as is. If you want to add your own touches, a fine tip pen works well for writing directly onto the scene pages alongside the painted details.
How do I fit all 29 pages into one journal?
Group them loosely by section: reading nooks near the front, books and tea and shop scenes through the middle, seasonal pages where they suit your calendar, and the lined pages spaced throughout wherever you need room to write.
