33 Free Music Junk Journal Pages With Sheet Music, Old Records and Concert Halls

A music junk journal needs more than one symphony hall or one guitar sketch to feel complete, and this set gives it 33 pages built around a single quiet theme: instruments, records, stages and the paper trail that music leaves behind. The kit runs 23 full scene pages, then 5 seamless background patterns of notes and keys, then 5 lined writing pages trimmed with musical borders, so every part of a finished journal is covered from the inside.

Print on heavyweight paper, at least 170gsm, so ink from both sides does not show through once pages are glued back to back. Set the printer to its best or photo quality setting for the richest colour, and trim each sheet to the journal size before gluing or stitching the signatures together.

Parlor and Stage Scenes

Sitting on a lace-covered table beside a wilting rose and a stack of old letters, the gramophone’s brass horn catches the light of a nearby window, with a faded wallpaper and heavy curtain painted in behind it.

Tuck a ticket stub or a napkin from a real concert night onto this page before gluing it in, right where the spotlight pool falls empty at the front of the stage.

A saxophone leans against a stool, a double bass stands in shadow, and a microphone waits mid-stage, with smoky curtains and dim amber light painted across the whole scene behind them.

Pair this page with the notes and treble clef background from later in this set, gluing a strip of the pattern along the bottom edge as a painted stage apron.

Red velvet balconies curve away from a gold-trimmed stage, a chandelier hangs overhead, and a folded program and opera glasses rest on the balcony rail in front of the view.

A trombone, a drum and a row of brass instruments move down a painted street scene, with bunting, scattered confetti and a brick storefront filling the space behind them.

String and Woodwind Still Lifes

The usual mistake with a still life page like this is leaving the surface under the main object too plain, so paint the sheet music full of visible notes and a worn wooden desk underneath.

Beside the violin, add a bow, a small rosin block and a few loose pages drifting off the edge of the desk.

Leaning against a shadowed wall corner, a cello stands beside its open case lined with faded velvet, a folded shawl and a stack of music books nearby, the wall and floorboards painted dim around them.

Who is this page for in a gift journal: the quiet flautist in the family, the one who keeps pressed flowers tucked inside old songbooks without anyone noticing.

A silver flute rests across an open book, with dried petals scattered near the spine and a faded ribbon marking a page, all set on a pale wooden table painted softly behind.

A tall harp stands beside a sunlit window with gauzy curtains, a small stool and a dropped shawl nearby, the window glass and garden beyond painted in soft layers behind the strings.

Write a short answer on this page: what song would you choose if you could only ever hear one again, and why does it still catch you off guard.

A clarinet lies beside a lit candle and a half-finished letter, with melted wax pooling on the desk and a window glowing faintly behind the whole arrangement.

Records and Listening Corners

Tuck a real record store receipt or a handwritten tracklist into the space beside this crate before the page goes into the journal.

Worn record sleeves lean together inside a wooden crate, a few loose records resting against its side, with a rug and a sliver of record player painted into the background behind the crate.

The five minute version of this page: a turntable with the needle resting mid-record, a pair of headphones draped over one corner, and a plain warm wash of colour filling the table behind it.

Place this page across from the gramophone parlor scene earlier in the set, so a journal reader flips from an old living room straight into a shop full of records.

Albums stand in rows behind a glass storefront window, a painted sign hangs above, and the reflection of a street lamp and passerby falls faintly across the glass.

An old wooden radio glows warm on a side table near a fireplace, a cup of tea and a folded newspaper resting beside it, the fire and mantel painted softly in the background.

A single sentence is all this page needs: a glowing jukebox stands in the corner of a checkered diner floor, its coloured lights spilling across the tiles around it.

Piano and Parlor Corners

Glue a small folded hymn sheet or a handwritten line of lyrics directly across the open keys before adding this page to the journal.

A grand piano’s open keyboard catches candlelight from a nearby candelabra, sheet music propped above the keys, with a dim parlor wall and framed portrait painted behind the whole scene.

Stacked music books lean against the side of an upright piano, a metronome ticking on top and a small vase of wildflowers nearby, a plain papered wall painted behind the whole arrangement.

This page suits the practical musician in a gift journal, the one who still keeps a real metronome ticking on the shelf instead of trusting an app.

A wooden metronome stands beside a tuning fork and a folded scale sheet, the whole still life set against a soft wash of muted studio colour behind them.

An accordion rests open on a garden chair, its bellows caught mid-stretch, with climbing ivy and a stone wall painted behind the chair in soft layered greens.

Concert Night Keepsakes

Tear the edge of this page roughly along one side before gluing it in, so it reads like a kept ticket stub rather than a flat printed sheet.

A folded concert program sits beside a torn ticket stub and a single pressed flower, a velvet seat cushion and faint stage curtain painted behind the small arrangement.

Viewed from a balcony above, music stands and instrument cases cluster in the orchestra pit, a conductor’s baton resting across an open score, the stage lights painted warm overhead.

Write the opening line of a song that means something, right across the blank corner of this desk scene, before it goes into the journal.

A notebook of half-written lyrics lies open beside a cup of cold coffee and a guitar pick, a lamp and a window painted softly in the background behind the desk.

An acoustic guitar leans against a worn brick wall, a scattering of fallen leaves and a folded jacket nearby, the brick texture and soft shadow painted across the whole background.

For the five minute version, keep it simple: an open music box with a small spinning ballerina figure, set against one soft wash of warm background colour.

Background Papers

Scatter musical notes and treble clefs across the whole sheet in a loose repeating rhythm, perfect as a backing under a photo, a cover sheet or lining for a pocket page in the same dusty rose and navy palette.

A steady stripe of alternating piano keys runs the length of the sheet, useful as a cover wrap, a spine lining or a simple backing behind a framed concert ticket.

Small vinyl records and record sleeves tumble across the page in a loose scatter, a good choice under a photo of a record collection or as a cover for the whole journal.

Thin ticking stripes run behind a scatter of tiny musical notes, giving a quieter texture for a pocket lining or a plain backing page behind a busier scene.

A damask arrangement of violins, trumpets and lyres repeats in soft symmetry, suited to a journal cover or a formal backing behind a concert program page.

Lined Writing Pages

Along the top edge a faint strip of sheet music frames the ruled lines below, ready for a concert setlist, a gift list of records to buy, or a letter to next year about the songs that mattered.

Small treble clefs curl in each corner of the page, leaving the centre open for a menu from a favourite jazz club dinner, a list of albums to replace, or a plain diary entry.

A narrow band of piano keys runs down the left side of the page, framing ruled lines in the center space for a wish list of concerts to attend or a short letter to a favourite musician.

A slim vine of guitars and leaves trails along the bottom edge, leaving space above for a practice log, a list of songs learned this year, or a quiet note to a bandmate.

A ring of tiny vinyl records frames the page like a spinning border, with open ruled lines at the centre for a tracklist of a mixtape, a concert memory, or a short diary line.

What to Do Next

Print the full set on heavyweight paper, trim each sheet to match, and start gluing from the gramophone parlor scene through to the last lined page, building the journal in the same order the pages were made.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper works best for these music junk journal pages?

Use a heavyweight cardstock of at least 170gsm so the painted colour does not show through the back of the sheet. A slightly textured or matte finish holds ink well and gives the watercolour look a softer, less glossy feel once printed and trimmed.

What printer settings give the best colour for these pages?

Choose your printer’s best or photo quality setting and select the matching cardstock or heavyweight paper type in the print dialogue. This slows the print slightly but keeps the dusty rose and navy tones even across the whole sheet without streaking.

What size should I print the pages at for a journal?

A5 or a half letter size suits most handmade journals and keeps the detail on scene pages crisp. Print at full page size first, then trim down with a paper trimmer once the ink is fully dry to avoid smudging the edges.

Can I write directly on the scene and background pages, not just the lined ones?

Yes, the cream background on every page takes a fine tip pen well. Keep writing to the quieter corners of scene pages so the painted subject stays the main focus, and save longer entries for the five lined writing pages.

What glue should I use to bind these pages into a journal?

An acid free glue stick keeps pages flat without wrinkling the paper or yellowing over time. For a bound spine instead of loose sheets, stack a few pages into small signatures and stitch along the fold before assembling the full journal.
