33 Silly Animal Doodles That Look Like They Have Opinions

Silly animal doodles give you a whole afternoon of drawing without a single serious decision to make. Every animal on this list has one absurd twist, a cat wearing a slice of bread, a pigeon in sneakers, a frog that is clearly judging you from its lily pad, and every one of the 33 is a different animal so nothing repeats.

Each idea has a simple version a child can finish in a few minutes and one small extra an adult can add for more punch. Grab a fineliner and a handful of markers, pick one near the top of the list to start, and work your way down as the shapes get a little more involved.

Cat Wearing Toast

A cat face fits inside two overlapping circles, which makes this the easiest warm up on the list. Draw the round head first, add triangle ears, then frame the whole face inside a bread slice shape like it is popping out of a toaster.

Color the bread golden with a light brown marker and keep the cat’s face plain white or gray. The one thing that goes wrong is drawing the toast hole too small, so leave plenty of room before adding whiskers. For more cat doodles in this same loose style, an adult can add crust texture lines and a tiny drip of honey.

Pigeon in Sneakers

Block in the pigeon as a soft oval body with a smaller round head on top, no neck needed. Add two thin stick legs and finish with a pair of tiny rounded sneakers, laces optional for the child version.

Fill the body gray with a darker patch at the chest, then color the sneakers in one bright marker. The common mistake is drawing legs too thin to visually hold the shoes, so thicken them slightly where they meet the sneaker. An adult can layer a second gray marker for a puffed-up chest and crisscross the laces properly.

Frog Judging You on Lily Pad

Start with one wide oval for the frog’s body sitting flat on a big green lily pad circle with a notch cut from the edge. Place two bulging eye circles high on top of the head and a flat straight mouth line, no smile.

Color the frog green and the lily pad a slightly darker green so the two shapes still read apart. The expression lives entirely in that flat mouth, so resist the urge to curve it. An adult can add a single raised eyebrow line and a few water ripple lines around the pad.

Owl with Reading Glasses

Draw the owl as one tall rounded body shape, then two large circles for eyes that take up most of the face. Rest a pair of small round reading glasses low on the beak so they overlap the eye circles slightly.

Fill the body brown or rust and leave the belly a lighter cream patch. The glasses tend to disappear if drawn too small, so keep the frames thick and dark. An adult can scratch in short feather lines over the body and tuck a tiny bookmark ribbon under one wing.

Hedgehog in a Sweater

Sketch a simple dome shape for the body and a pointed triangle snout, then add short straight lines fanning out from the back for spikes. Wrap a sweater around the front half with a rounded V neckline.

Color the spikes brown, the sweater one solid bright color, and leave the snout and belly pale. Spikes that poke through the sweater line look messy, so stop the spike lines right where the sweater edge begins. An adult can add a knit texture of short crossing dashes across the sweater.

Snail Carrying a Teacup

Draw the shell as one tight spiral first, then attach a curved body underneath with two small antennae on top. Balance a tiny teacup and saucer right on the peak of the shell spiral.

Color the shell in warm orange bands and the teacup in a single contrasting color. The teacup floats oddly if it is not clearly touching the shell’s highest point, so check that connection before adding color. An adult can draw a thin curl of steam rising from the cup.

Goldfish in a Top Hat

Block in an oval body and a large fan-shaped tail, then perch a small top hat tilted on the fish’s head. Keep the fins as simple curved triangles along the belly.

Color the body orange with the tail a slightly paler shade, and leave the hat plain black. If the tail is drawn too large it overwhelms the hat, so keep the tail about the same width as the body. An adult can dot small scales across the body and add a thin white gel pen shine on the hat.

Chicken Wearing Sunglasses

Start with a round body, a small pointed beak, and a wobbly red comb on top. Sit a pair of rectangular sunglasses right across the eye line, slightly tilted.

Color the body white or cream and the sunglasses solid black with one white gel pen dot for a lens reflection. Sunglasses drawn too high above the eyes tend to look like they are floating, so line them up right where the eyes would be. An adult can flick a few feather lines along the wings for texture.

Walrus with a Mustache Comb

Draw a large rounded oval for the body, two thick curved tusks, and a wide bushy mustache tucked with a tiny comb resting in it. Keep the flippers as simple curved paddles at the base.

Fill the body a soft gray-brown and leave the tusks white. Thin tusks tend to disappear against the body, so draw them noticeably thick with a rounded tip. An adult can add a few wrinkle lines across the body and detail the comb’s teeth.

Penguin in Flip Flops

Build the penguin from one tall oval body with a white belly patch, then add two short flipper arms and a pair of tiny orange flip flops on the feet. The beak is a small orange triangle.

Color the body black, the belly white, and keep the flip flops in the same orange as the beak so they feel intentional. Flip flops without a visible strap read as bare feet, so always draw that thin line across the top. An adult can add a little snow splash under the feet.

Raccoon Stealing a Pizza Slice

Draw a round head with a dark mask shape across the eyes, pointed ears, and a striped tail curling behind. Rest one triangle pizza slice in its paws, melting cheese dripping off the point.

Color the mask dark gray but keep it thin enough that the eyes still show through. For more food doodles worth pairing with this one, draw the pizza with just two pepperoni dots and a few cheese strings. An adult can add a drip line of grease and shade the tail stripes.

Sloth Holding a Coffee Cup

Give the sloth one round face, long curved arms wrapped around a branch, and a to-go coffee cup with a lid held in one paw. Keep the legs short and simple hanging below.

Fill the fur a soft brown and the coffee cup white with a brown lid. Arms drawn too short make the cup look unreachable, so let the arms curve generously around to meet it. An adult can add a thin steam swirl above the lid and short dash marks for fur texture.

Octopus Juggling Donuts

Draw one round head and four or five curved tentacle lines rather than all eight, which keeps the shape readable. Scatter three donut circles with a simple sprinkle pattern around the tentacles like they are mid-juggle.

Color the octopus pink or purple and give each donut a different glaze color. More tentacles than that start to tangle visually, so stop at five curves. This same loose, bouncy look works well across the ocean doodles theme too, and an adult can add sucker dots along each tentacle and a glaze drip on the donuts.

Llama in a Scarf

Sketch a long neck topped with a rounded head, floppy ears, and a fluffy oval body. Wrap a long scarf around the neck with both ends trailing down one side.

Color the body a soft cream with small scribbled fluff marks, and pick one bold color for the scarf. A neck drawn too short loses the llama’s whole silhouette, so stretch it taller than feels natural at first. An adult can add fringe lines at the scarf’s ends and a pattern of stripes along it.

Turtle with a Backpack

Draw a domed shell first, then a small head and four stubby legs poking out underneath. Strap a tiny backpack over the top of the shell with two curved straps.

Color the shell green with a simple hexagon pattern and the backpack a contrasting bright color. Straight straps that ignore the shell’s curve look flat, so bend each strap slightly as it passes over the dome. An adult can add a front pocket on the backpack and shade the hexagons two different greens.

Fox in a Bow Tie

Block in pointed triangle ears, a narrow pointed snout, and a large fluffy curved tail behind a slim body. Tie a small bow tie right at the neck.

Color the body orange with a white chest patch and white tail tip, then pick one solid color for the bow tie. A tail drawn too thin loses the fluffy look that makes a fox read as a fox, so keep the curve wide and full. An adult can add a dotted pattern on the bow tie.

Rabbit Eating a Carrot Like Corn

Draw two long upright ears, a round body, and have the rabbit hold an orange carrot sideways in both paws like it is corn on the cob. Give the carrot a leafy green top at each end.

Color the body soft gray or white and the carrot bright orange. Short ears flatten the whole silhouette, so draw them taller than the head itself. An adult can puff out the cheeks with a bit of shading and add bite marks along the carrot.

Bear in Pajamas

Start with a large round body and a smaller round head, then dress the bear in a one-piece pajama suit with a few star shapes scattered across it. Add round slipper feet at the bottom.

Color the pajamas one solid soft color with the stars left white or in a contrasting dot pattern. Too many stars crowd the shape and hide the bear’s outline, so scatter just a handful. An adult can draw a yawning open mouth and a single top button on the pajama front.

Squirrel Hoarding Candy

Draw a round body, one large curved tail arching up behind, and cheeks puffed out wide on either side of the face. Pile a few wrapped candy shapes in front of the squirrel instead of acorns.

Color the body reddish brown and give each candy wrapper its own bright color with a twist line at each end. A tail that is too small next to the body looks off balance, so make the curve as large as the body itself. An adult can add twist shading to the wrapper ends.

Duck Wearing Rain Boots

Keep the duck simple with one round body, a flat orange bill, and two short legs ending in bright yellow rain boots. A small puddle splash under the feet finishes the scene.

Color the body yellow and the boots a contrasting color so they stand out against the duck. Boots drawn too wide for the legs make the duck look like it is tipping over, so match the boot width to the leg thickness. An adult can add tread lines on the boot soles and ripple marks in the puddle.

Dog Wearing a Backwards Cap

Draw a round head with two floppy ears, a simple oval body, and a baseball cap sitting with the brim facing backward. Add a tongue hanging out one side of the mouth for a goofy look.

For more dog doodles that work well next to this one, color the body light brown and the cap one bold solid color. A cap drawn facing forward loses the backward joke entirely, so make sure the brim sits clearly at the back of the head. An adult can add stitching lines around the cap panel.

Crab Wearing Tiny Boxing Gloves

Draw a wide oval shell body with eight short legs along the bottom, then replace the two front claws with chunky boxing glove shapes. Keep the stance low and wide like the crab is ready to spar.

Color the shell orange-red and the gloves in one bright solid color. Gloves that are drawn too small get lost against the claws, so make them noticeably larger and rounder than a real claw would be. An adult can add lace detail across the top of each glove.

Parrot Talking on a Banana Phone

Draw a curved hooked beak, a tall feather crest, and a wing held up to the head holding a banana shaped and bent like a phone receiver. Keep the body one simple rounded shape.

Color the feathers in two or three bright colors and the banana plain yellow. A banana drawn straight loses the phone joke completely, so bend it clearly to match the curve of a receiver against the ear. An adult can add a small squiggle speech bubble near the beak.

Cow with Sunglasses and a Milkshake

Draw a wide rounded body with scattered patch shapes, two small horns, and a pair of sunglasses across the eyes. Give one hoof a tall milkshake cup with a bent straw.

Color the body white with black or brown patches of different sizes, then fill the milkshake pink or chocolate brown. Patches that are all the same size and evenly spaced look like a grid rather than cow spots, so vary them irregularly. An adult can bend the straw further and add a few condensation lines on the cup.

Koala Hugging a Eucalyptus Lollipop

Draw two large round ears, a wide flat nose, and a round body hugging a lollipop shaped like a swirled eucalyptus leaf instead of a tree branch. Keep the arms wrapped fully around the stick.

Color the body soft gray and the lollipop in two shades of green with a brown stick. Small ears flatten the koala look immediately, so draw them oversized compared to the head. An adult can scribble short fur texture lines around the face and paws.

Hamster Stuffing Cheeks with Popcorn

Draw a small round body with cheeks puffed out far wider than the head itself, and place a tiny popcorn bucket in its front paws. Keep the ears small and rounded.

Color the body golden brown and the popcorn white with a few yellow kernel dots. Cheeks drawn the same size as the head undersell the joke, so exaggerate them noticeably past the head’s edge on both sides. An adult can add a gradient shade across each cheek to suggest how stuffed they are.

Flamingo Standing in a Donut Float

Draw one long curved neck, a small round head, and a body resting inside a round donut-shaped pool float with sprinkles along the rim. One thin bent leg holds the whole pose up.

Color the flamingo pink and the float a contrasting bright color with a few sprinkle dots. A leg drawn too thick loses the elegant balance that makes this pose funny, so keep it thin and clearly bent at the knee. An adult can add water ripple lines around the float.

Skunk Wearing a Perfume Bottle Hat

Draw an oval body with one white stripe running down the back, a bushy tail curled behind, and a tiny perfume bottle balanced on the head like a hat with spray lines coming off the top.

Color the body black with the stripe left white and the bottle one bright solid color. A stripe placed off to one side loses the skunk’s identity fast, so keep it running straight down the center of the back. An adult can add a fine mist of spray dots above the bottle.

Platypus in Swim Goggles

Draw a wide flat bill, a rounded body, webbed feet, and a pair of round swim goggles strapped around the head over the eyes. Keep the tail flat and paddle shaped.

Color the body brown and the goggles one bright solid color with a thin strap line around the head. Goggles drawn too small do not read clearly against such a wide bill, so size them generously before adding the strap. An adult can add texture lines across the bill and webbing details on the feet.

Chameleon Changing into Polka Dots

Draw a curled tail, a rounded body, and one large bulging eye, then split the body down the middle, one half plain and the other half covered in bright polka dots mid-transformation.

Color the plain half green and the dotted half a completely different bright color to sell the change. A pattern drawn evenly across the whole body loses the joke, so keep that split line clear and deliberate. An adult can blend a soft gradient right at the seam between the two halves.

Giraffe Wearing a Turtleneck

Draw a tall curved neck with a small head and short horns, scattered patch shapes down the body, and a turtleneck collar bunched up high near the chin. Keep the legs long and simple.

Color the body yellow-tan with irregular brown patches and the turtleneck one solid bright color. A collar drawn too short leaves bare neck showing above it, which breaks the joke, so let the folds overlap generously near the chin. An adult can add fold lines across the bunched fabric.

Peacock Showing Off a Fan of Playing Cards

Draw a round body, a small crest of feathers on the head, and replace the usual tail fan with a spread of overlapping playing card shapes fanned out behind like a magic trick.

Color the body teal blue and give the cards simple suit symbols in red and black. A fan with only two or three cards looks sparse, so overlap at least six or seven to fill the space properly. An adult can add a feather-eye pattern to the crest on top of the head.

Bat Hanging Upside Down Reading a Book

Draw the bat hanging upside down from a branch, wings folded close to the body, and a tiny open book held up in one wing near the face. Keep the ears pointed and the body compact.

Color the body dark purple or black and the book pages a plain cream color. Stiff straight wings ruin the hanging pose, so curve them gently to wrap partway around the body. An adult can add thin membrane lines across the wings and a few scribbled text lines on the open pages.

What to Do Next

Pick one idea near the top of the list, load a fineliner and two or three markers, and finish it start to color in one sitting on a sheet of marker paper. Once the first one feels easy, work down the list toward the more detailed animals like the peacock or the bat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pens work best for silly animal doodles like these?

A fineliner between 0.3 and 0.5 millimeters gives clean, confident outlines without smudging. Keep a slightly thicker one, around 0.8, on hand for the outer edge of each animal so it reads clearly once the flat marker color goes in on top.

How do you stop the marker color from bleeding past the fineliner lines?

Let the fineliner outline dry fully before adding any marker, usually about thirty seconds, and always draw the outline first, color second. Work on marker paper or a bleedproof pad rather than regular printer paper, since thin paper lets the marker ink spread past the lines.

How do you make a doodle actually look funny instead of just cute?

The expression does most of the work, so keep the mouth flat or slightly downturned for a deadpan look rather than a wide smile. Pair that expression with one unexpected prop, like sneakers on a pigeon, and let the animal’s pose stay completely calm despite the silly detail.

Can a young child really finish one of these in one sitting?

Yes, especially the entries near the top of the list, since each one breaks down into two or three simple rounded shapes. Let the child handle the outline and base color, then add one small adult extra, like a shading line or a texture detail, afterward.

What is the easiest animal on this list to start with?

Cat Wearing Toast and Frog Judging You on Lily Pad are the simplest, built from just two or three overlapping shapes each. Both finish quickly with flat color and almost no extra detail, which makes them a good warm up before moving further down the list.
