Every room diorama in this set lives inside a piece of old furniture, the kind with a hundred small drawers and doors worth opening. A wardrobe, a dresser drawer, a china cabinet and a grandfather clock each swing open at the front like a tiny stage, with a whole cosy life tucked inside. Print the set on matte cardstock at actual size, cut around each shape with a thin white edge left on, and you have seventeen little worlds ready for cards and junk journal pages.
These scenes suit anyone who loves handmade cards for a mother, a grandmother, a friend who sews or a daughter who collects teacups. Some pages hold a young woman caught mid-task, others an elderly woman settled into a quiet moment, and each has a far window or doorway with its own small scene beyond. Pick one for a single card front or work through a few for a themed set.

Bedroom Mornings
Hat boxes stack beside her as she stands deciding between two dresses on hangers, the wardrobe doors folded wide like a tiny stage.
A seaside view fills the back window, which makes this a lovely anchor for a travel-themed journal spread or a card for a friend heading on holiday. Add a little glitter to the waves if you want the window to catch the light.
A dresser drawer pulled open reveals an elderly woman napping under a crochet blanket with her cat curled at her feet, rain streaking the little window behind her.
Teacups line up drying on a little rack while a young woman in an apron wipes the last one dry, her cottage garden view glowing soft behind her.
This pairs beautifully with the pantry cupboard diorama further down for a matching set of kitchen cards, one for drying dishes and one for stocking shelves. Mount both on kraft cardstock with a thin lace strip beneath for a cosy finish.
An elderly couple sit playing cards by a small fire built into the base of the clock, a moonlit lane glowing through the glass behind them.
Quiet Corners
A young woman seals a letter with a drop of wax, her lamp glowing warm as a city park stretches out behind the desk’s little window.
This one anchors a letter-writing or pen pal spread in a junk journal especially well, since the scene already looks like a page from a story. Print two copies and raise the desk and lamp on foam dots for a touch of depth.
Snow dusts the rooftops in the back window while an elderly woman sits mending old dolls at a small table inside the toy cupboard.
Keys pressed mid-song, a young woman plays the piano while her dog sits listening at her feet, a rose garden blooming behind the open lid.
Give this one to a daughter or granddaughter who plays an instrument, or pair it with the radio cabinet diorama for two cards built around music and dancing. A dusting of soft pink on the roses adds a nice handmade touch.
An elderly woman climbs a little library ladder with a cat perched on her shoulder, reaching for a book while an orchard glows through the window behind.
Working Hands
Fabric unrolls across a cutting table as a young woman measures lengths with a tape, tram lines running along the street behind the armoire’s open doors.
This diorama suits a card for anyone who sews or quilts, and sits nicely beside the corner cabinet craft room for a matching pair celebrating handmade hobbies. Try the tin diorama set too if your reader keeps a sewing tin on her shelf.
Jars of preserves line the shelves as an elderly woman arranges them by colour, a neat vegetable garden visible through the small window behind her.
Earrings held up to catch the light, a young woman tries on jewellery at her vanity table while a moonlit river drifts past the window behind her mirror.
Mount this one on soft cream cardstock with a narrow lace edge for a romantic card front, perfect for a bridesmaid or a daughter’s birthday. Raise just the mirror and jewellery box on foam dots for a gentle lift off the page.
Mugs of cocoa warm their hands as an elderly couple settle into armchairs by the fire, a snowy wood glowing quietly through the window behind.
Kitchen Days
Flour dusts her hands as a young woman slides a tray of muffins from a small oven, a hen perched calmly on the windowsill beside her.
Give this one to anyone who loves baking, or use it to anchor a recipe page in a junk journal next to a handwritten muffin recipe. The farmyard glowing behind the hutch ties in nicely with the farm junk journal set if you want a bigger country theme.
A Sunday table gets laid with care as an elderly woman arranges flowers beside the good china, green hills rolling gently through the window behind.
Music spills from the old radio cabinet as a young woman dances with a broom for a partner, a sunny street drifting past the window behind her.
This one makes a cheerful card for a friend who loves to dance or simply needs a lift, and it pairs sweetly with the piano music room for a matching set built around song. Keep the colours bright here since the scene already carries a playful mood.
Breakfast arrives on a small tray as an elderly woman sits up in her four-poster bed with her cat, sunrise spreading gently over the fields behind.
Brush in hand, a young woman paints a delicate pattern onto a teacup at her small worktable, a canal with little boats drifting past the window behind.
This closes the set nicely alongside the armoire sewing room, giving you a matching pair of cards for a friend who loves any kind of handmade craft. For a five-minute version, skip colouring extra detail and simply mount the cabinet straight onto a plain card base.
What to Do Next
Print the full set on matte cardstock, cut each room out with a thin white edge, and start building a little shelf of handmade cards and journal pages around whichever story feels right for the person receiving it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for printing room diorama scenes?
Matte cardstock works best, since it holds fine linework crisply without glare under craft lights. Choose a weight around 200 to 250 gsm so the furniture shapes stay sturdy once cut and glued onto a card front.
What printer settings should I use?
Print at actual size with borderless or default margins turned off, selecting the best quality photo or matte setting your printer offers. Always check the preview shows the full diorama before printing the whole set.
How do I make these dioramas look three dimensional?
Print two copies of the same diorama, then cut the inner figure or a few foreground props from the second sheet. Glue those pieces back onto the first scene on small foam adhesive dots to lift them gently off the page.
What card size suits these room dioramas?
A5 folded card bases suit most of these scenes well, since the furniture shapes need a little room to breathe around the edges. Smaller A6 cards work too if you trim the diorama closer to its outline first.
Can I use these for junk journals instead of cards?
Yes, these scenes work beautifully as journal page anchors, especially paired with handwritten notes or small embellishments nearby. Mount one per spread with a strip of washi tape or lace along one edge for a finished look.
