This pattern paper scrapbook set gives you 27 classic geometrics done in soft pastels: gingham, ticking, dots, diamonds and more, built so any one of them can slot behind a photo or a sticker without fighting the theme. Checks, stripes and small repeating shapes read as neutral backgrounds, which makes this the set you reach for when a page needs a base and nothing fussier.
Print on US Letter, borderless if your printer allows it or trimmed to the edge if it does not, and choose a matte cardstock for anything going into a junk journal so pencil and ink sit well on top.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Gingham and Checks
Small blue and white checks make a steady base for a journal page under a photo, the kind of background that never competes with what sits on top of it.
Larger mint and white checks line a pocket or envelope nicely, giving a bit more scale than its smaller blue cousin on the previous sheet.
Pink and white seersucker stripes wrap a small gift with a bit of texture built right into the print, no ribbon required to add interest.
Pale blue double ticking stripes sit well as a card mat behind a sticker, the thin paired lines giving a tailored look without any extra color.
Sage green and white awning stripes make a sturdy book cover or folio front, the wider bands giving a cleaner, bolder feel than a thin pinstripe.
Dots and Spots
Tiny lilac pin dots spaced evenly on white keep a journal page quiet under a photo, a good choice when the page already has plenty going on.
Large coral polka dots on pale peach bring more punch, and this one pairs well with the quieter lilac pin dot sheet above for a two-paper spread.
Sky blue and white polka dots in alternating sizes line an envelope with a bit of rhythm, the mix of small and larger dots keeping it from feeling flat.
Soft blue concentric circles on white make a card mat with a bit more movement, good behind a small diorama scene or a flat sticker cluster.
Blush plus signs spaced evenly on white give a softer take on a dot grid, light enough to sit behind handwriting on a journal page.
Diamonds and Diagonals
Pink, blue and mint argyle wraps a small gift with a preppy feel, the diamond grid giving more structure than a plain stripe or check.
White and aqua harlequin diamonds make a lively book cover, the alternating diamond shapes reading almost like a checkerboard turned on its point.
Pink and lilac tartan lines a folio cover with a soft plaid feel, pairing naturally with the pastel argyle sheet for a mixed-pattern spread.
Mint and white chevron stripes give a card mat some direction, the zigzag reading as more playful than a straight stripe underneath a sticker.
Mint and pink diagonal stripes wrap a small gift box at an angle, giving the parcel a bit more motion than a straight vertical stripe would.
Lattice and Woven Patterns
Thin pink lattice lines on white make a gentle card mat behind a pressed flower sticker, the crossing lines reading almost like garden trellis work.
Soft gray and white houndstooth lines an envelope with a tailored, slightly vintage feel that suits a dark academia junk journal page just as well as a plain card base.
Pale aqua scallop rows wrap a small gift with a gentle wave feel, the rows of curved scales repeating like rows of shells on a quiet shoreline.
Mint basket weave check lines a folio cover with a woven look, a close cousin to gingham but with more texture built into each square.
Lilac and white windowpane check makes a clean journal page base under a photo, the wide open squares leaving plenty of room to write in the gaps.
Vintage Motif Prints
Blush quatrefoil shapes on white make a soft card mat behind a sticker, the four-petal motif giving a vintage feel without adding much color.
Aqua Moroccan tile ogee on white lines an envelope with a bit more pattern weight, pairing well with the plainer blush quatrefoil sheet above.
Thin rainbow pinstripes on white wrap a small gift for any birthday or celebration theme, the narrow bands of color keeping the overall look light.
Tiny pastel triangles in a half-drop repeat make a playful journal page base, small enough to sit quietly under a photo or a strip of washi tape.
Soft pink herringbone lines a book cover with a bit of texture, the slanted weave reading as more tailored than a flat plain paper.
Small pastel patchwork squares in mixed prints make a card mat that already looks pieced together, good behind a flat paper diorama or a cluster of stickers.
Soft green and white checkerboard squares wrap a small gift with a clean, graphic finish, a good closing note for the set alongside the two gingham sheets at the start.
What to Do Next
Print the sheets you need, trim them to fit your project, and start layering gingham, stripes and dots across your next card or journal spread.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper weight works best for these pattern sheets?
A weight between 90 and 120 gsm works best for most uses. Lighter cardstock around 90 gsm suits pockets and envelope linings, while heavier stock near 120 gsm holds up better as a card mat or a folio cover.
Can I print these pattern papers borderless?
Yes, most home printers support borderless printing on US Letter paper, which lets the pattern run right to the edge. If your printer cannot print borderless, print as normal and trim the white margin off with a paper trimmer.
Should I use A4 or US Letter for these sheets?
These sheets are set up for US Letter, the standard size in the US. If your printer defaults to A4, select the US Letter option in your print settings or adjust paper size before printing so the pattern fills the page correctly.
Can I use these as gift wrap instead of scrapbook paper?
Yes, several sheets here work well as gift wrap, especially the seersucker stripe, sage awning stripe and checkerboard patterns. Print a few sheets and tape them together for larger packages, since each sheet covers one US Letter page.
How do I keep the look consistent across a journal spread?
Stick to two or three sheets per spread so the patterns do not compete with each other. Pair a busier print, like the argyle or tartan, with a quieter one, like the pin dot or windowpane check, to balance the page.
