This fairy junk journal kit gives you 37 pages built around one storybook world, so nothing in the set repeats and every sheet earns its place. Twenty six scene pages carry the fairies, their homes and their gardens, five seamless background pages give you wings and tiny flowers to use as filler, and six lined writing pages are ready for your own words.
Print the whole set on matte cardstock heavy enough to take glue without curling, run your printer on its best photo or presentation setting, and trim each sheet to your journal size before you start gluing pages in.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Fairy Homes and Villages
Tiny doors, lit windows and curling stairways tucked among the roots of an old oak make a fairy village worth returning to again and again.
Glue in a pressed leaf or a scrap of twine beside the smallest door before the page goes into your journal. A single dried flower petal tucked at the base of the trunk reads like something the fairies left behind, and it costs you nothing but a walk outside.
Pair this page with the wings and tiny flowers background further on in the set: tear a strip of that pattern and glue it along the bottom edge as a painted hill under the mushroom house.
A carved stump throne draped in petals, flanked by toadstool stools and a floating crown, sits at the centre of a hall grown from living branches.
The usual mistake with a throne room page is leaving too much empty floor in the foreground, which reads as unfinished once it is glued in. Add a scattering of fallen petals or a sleeping mouse at the base of the throne to carry the eye all the way to the bottom edge.
Who is this page for: tuck it near the front of a journal made for a daughter or goddaughter, where a cradle woven from twigs inside a split tulip bulb feels like the opening page of her own story.
Jars of bottled dewdrops, strings of dried berries and a scale made from acorn caps turn one corner of the woods into a tiny market worth stopping at.
Write a short shopping list in the margin, three or four fairy goods with silly prices in dew drops or moonbeams. It turns a pretty page into something you actually enjoy filling in on a quiet evening.
Water and Pond Fairies
A single sleeping fairy curled on a wide lily pad under a trailing curtain of water lilies, drifting across a quiet moonlit pond, asks for nothing more than a caption about a nap that lasted too long.
A fairy astride a dragonfly banks low over the reeds, trailing a thin line of sparkling dust behind her.
Place this page next to the mushroom house with the ladder a few sheets back and the two read as one story: a fairy leaving home for a morning ride across the pond. Glue them on facing pages so the dragonfly seems to fly out of one scene and into the next.
The five minute version: paint the memory of this page in your mind, then let the printed scene do the work. A frog in a tiny acorn shell boat, ferrying a fairy passenger across still water, needs only a short caption underneath about where they might be headed.
Glowing shells, strands of pearl and a fairy with fins instead of feet make this grotto page feel like it belongs below the surface of the pond rather than above it.
Tea stain the top edge of this sheet before printing text on it if your printer allows a second pass, or simply brush a thin wash of tea along the dry edge afterward. It softens the border and deepens the underwater mood without covering any of the scene.
Night Gardens and Lanterns
Rows of paper lanterns strung between rose bushes light a garden path where tiny fairy footprints lead toward a closed gate, and the whole scene asks only for a line about who might be waiting there.
A fairy with a long hooked pole tends a row of jars, each one holding a single captured firefly glowing softly inside.
Write a short entry about a job you would want if you lived among fairies, lantern keeper or dewdrop bottler or petal sorter. The page gives the prompt and the lines below it, in your own head, carry the rest.
The usual mistake with a portal page is painting the opening pure white, which looks unfinished once printed. This one fills the round stone gate with a soft swirl of starlight so the opening itself becomes part of the picture, framed by ivy and small glowing moths.
A fairy balances on a thin branch, holding up a net woven from spider silk to catch a single falling star before it lands.
Pair this page with a lined writing page from later in the set: glue the scene on the left side of a spread and leave the lined sheet opposite for a wish written the night you glue both pages in.
Picnics and Gatherings
A circle of acorn cup teacups and a cake made from a single berry surrounds a small candle stub, set out on a round leaf tablecloth for guests who have not arrived yet.
A long toadstool cap serves as the table for a harvest feast, laid with tiny pies, strings of berries and a single pumpkin lantern at its centre.
What to write or glue onto this page: a recipe for something you actually bake each autumn, copied out in your own hand along the bottom margin. The fairy feast above gives the page its charm, your real recipe gives it a reason to keep.
Beneath a trailing willow strung with tiny white blossoms, two small figures stand before a ring of mushrooms while petals drift down around them, a single quiet image that needs no further decoration.
A ring of small fairies dances around a low bonfire built from twigs, sparks rising into a sky just turning from dusk to full dark.
If you want the five minute version of this page, skip any extra decoration and simply glue it in as printed. The bonfire circle carries its own mood, and a plain caption underneath, one word even, is often all it needs.
Woodland Treasures and Objects
A dew covered spiderweb stretched between two branches catches the last light of evening, strung with tiny glass beads a fairy might have added overnight.
Four pairs of wings in different shapes, moth, dragonfly, butterfly and beetle, rest side by side on a bed of moss as if laid out to dry after rain.
Ask yourself a short question when you glue this page in: which pair of wings would you choose, and why. Write the answer in a few lines beneath the collection, where there is room enough for a short honest sentence.
A small chest carved from a hollowed acorn sits open on a bed of leaves, spilling tiny glass beads, a curl of ribbon and a single pressed flower across the forest floor.
Rows of small glass bottles line a crooked wooden shelf, each one holding a different coloured liquid, a dried herb, or a single glowing petal.
Tear the right edge of this page unevenly before gluing it in, so the shelf looks like it continues just out of view into the rest of the journal. A torn edge reads as an old page that has simply lost part of itself over time.
One tiny embroidered shoe sits abandoned on a mushroom cap in a patch of moonlight, with no owner in sight and no explanation offered.
Travel and Flight
A carriage built from a hollowed walnut shell, drawn by two harnessed butterflies, carries a small passenger past a row of glowing toadstools along a forest road.
From the chimney top of a cottage, a cluster of fairies prepares for flight, wings half open and small travel bags slung over their shoulders.
Which fairy journal page you are reading right now: this one is for anyone starting a travel section inside their journal. Glue it as the first page of that section and let it work as the title page without any added text at all.
A balloon stitched together from overlapping flower petals lifts a small woven basket into the sky, drifting above a patchwork of fields far below.
A fairy family lives in a caravan built from a single large snail shell, fitted with a tiny door, a chimney and a string of washing out to dry.
What to write or glue onto this page: a short list of everything you would pack if you only had a snail shell to carry it in. Keep the list to five items or fewer, written small along the base of the page where the road would be.
Background Papers
One fairy steers a single curled autumn leaf through the air like a glider, arms spread for balance, drifting slowly down toward the forest floor below.
Small moth and dragonfly wings scatter across the page between clusters of tiny five petal flowers, repeating edge to edge. Use it behind a photo of a garden, as a cover sheet for the whole journal, or trimmed down to line the inside of any pocket page you add later.
Rows of small round mushroom caps in red, cream and soft brown repeat quietly across the page, spaced like a scattered woodland floor. Place it behind a forest photo, as a divider between sections of the journal, or as backing for a loose insert page.
Narrow vertical bands carry a repeating line of small moon phases, from crescent to full and back again, down the length of the page. Use it as a cover for a night themed section, under a photo taken outdoors after dark, or trimmed into strips for a border.
Curling fern fronds alternate with small scattered specks of fairy dust across the whole sheet, light enough to sit behind writing without crowding it. Good as a page backing for pressed leaves, a liner behind a window cut into another page, or a simple cover sheet.
Lined Writing Pages
A formal damask style pattern builds its repeat from toadstool shapes and curling vines instead of the usual florals, giving a slightly grander backdrop. Use it behind a formal photo, as the inside cover of the journal, or as a mat under a fairy portrait page.
Corner sprays of tiny bluebells frame faint ruled lines in the middle of the page, left open for a gift list, a wish list for next spring, or a short letter to whoever reads this journal after you.
A narrow band of climbing roses runs down the left edge of the page, beside faint ruled lines ready for a garden journal entry, a planting plan, or notes on a walk taken that week.
Small moths rest at each corner of a thin painted frame, enclosing faint ruled lines fit for a dream recorded on waking, a short story idea, or a line copied from a favourite book.
A thin vine strung with small red berries winds along the top edge of the page, above faint ruled lines left for a menu, a recipe passed down, or a letter written to next year’s self.
Small pressed looking flowers sit along the bottom edge of the page like a kept keepsake, with faint ruled lines above for a packing list, a guest list, or a note tucked in for later.
What to Do Next
Print the set, trim each page to size, and start gluing the scenes in wherever your journal’s story calls for a little more magic. Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for these fairy junk journal pages?
Matte cardstock around 90 to 110 lb holds the colours well and takes glue without curling or buckling. Thinner paper is fine for lined pages you plan to write on, but the scene and background pages hold up better on something closer to cardstock weight.
What printer settings give the best colour on these pages?
Use your printer’s best photo or presentation quality setting and select matte or plain cardstock as the paper type if that option exists. A quick test print of one page lets you check the colours before you commit a full sheet of cardstock to the run.
What size should I print the pages for a junk journal?
Most junk journals use A5 or a trimmed half letter size, so print at full page size first and trim down afterward rather than shrinking the image, which can soften fine detail. Keep a small margin around the edge to allow for trimming without losing any of the scene.
Do I need to colour or add anything to these pages?
No, every page prints in full colour and is complete as is. You can still add pressed flowers, washi tape, or a line of your own writing in the margins if you want a page to feel more personal.
Can I mix these pages with other junk journal kits?
Yes, the muted lilac and moss palette pairs easily with other nature or cottagecore themed kits. Keep the lined pages from this set together so the borders read as one section rather than scattering them among very different styles.
