Table of Contents
A snow globe junk journal gathers up every glass-dome world you have ever pressed your nose against: tiny chapels, skating ponds, pine forests and cottages, all shaken into a flurry and set on mantels among ribbon and holly. This kit gives you 20 scene pages of those little worlds, 4 seamless background papers in soft Christmas pastels, and 4 lined writing pages with glittering borders, so the whole journal comes from one set.
Print the pages on heavyweight matte paper, at least 24 lb or 32 lb so the color stays rich and the paper does not curl, and set your printer to its best or photo quality with borderless printing if it offers that option. Trim each sheet to the size of your journal before gluing, and keep a bone folder nearby for crisp edges.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Mantel And Shelf Globes
A snow globe holding a tiny chapel and a stand of pines sits on a mantel lined with holly sprigs, the whole scene framed by a painted mantel shelf and a dusting of firelight behind it.
Picture a row of snow globes lined up on a toy shop shelf, tin soldiers standing guard on one side and spools of ribbon stacked on the other, with a painted wooden shelf and shop window light behind the whole row.
This page suits anyone building a toy shop spread: pair it with the carousel music box page later in the kit, or glue a small paper price tag beside one globe for a shopkeeper’s touch. Leave a little room at the bottom edge for a caption about the shop itself.
A snow globe filled with a skating pond scene rests on a lace doily, a small dish of peppermints beside it, all set against a soft painted tabletop that fills the page edge to edge.
Try tea-staining just the bottom corner of this page before gluing it in: the faint warm edge reads like old glass against the frosted windowpane behind the cottage globe. Keep the stain light so the poinsettia red still shows clearly.
If staining feels fussy, skip it. The page works perfectly plain, with the frosted panes and poinsettia doing all the seasonal work on their own.
A little girl in a red coat shakes a snow globe beside a decorated tree, her breath nearly visible in the painted air around strings of lights and hanging ornaments.
The usual mistake with a page like this one is gluing it flat all the way round, which flattens the velvet ribbon and pinecones into the paper. Leave the top edge of the globe unglued instead, so it lifts slightly and casts a small shadow when the journal lies open.
A dab of glue at each bottom corner is enough to hold the page secure while keeping that gentle lift.
A snow globe with a tiny gingerbread house sits beside a plate of iced cookies, the whole arrangement warmed by a soft kitchen light painted across the background.
Pair this page with the toy shop shelf earlier in the kit: the brass carousel globe reads like one piece carried home from that very shelf. Set them on facing pages so the quilted table runner echoes the shop’s wooden shelf in color and tone.
Nature And Village Globes
A snow globe holding a pine forest and a small deer rests on a stack of vintage hatboxes, their ribbon ties and faded floral prints filling the page around it.
A snow globe shows a lighthouse standing over snowy rocks, with seashells and a lit candle arranged nearby, the whole page painted in the hush of a winter shoreline.
This page works well for a reader piecing together a coastal Christmas, someone who spends summers near the water and still wants that feeling at the holidays. Write the name of a favourite seaside town along the bottom edge.
Try the five minute version of this page: skip any extra gluing and simply tuck it behind the chapel mantel page near the start of the kit, letting the lamppost globe’s evergreen garland peek out along one edge.
A kitten paws at a snow globe resting on a hearth rug, wrapped gifts stacked nearby and firelight painted warm across the whole scene.
A snow globe with a snowman family inside sits on a tea tray, a teapot and a cup of cocoa close by, the painted tray cloth and steam rising softly to fill the page.
What would you ask the cardinal in this globe, if it could answer back about the view from its painted branch? Write that small question along the bottom of the page and leave room underneath for the reply.
Give this one to a reader who grew up watching a model train circle the tree every year, someone who still hums the station announcements from memory. A beginner can trace the mountain’s curve freehand, while a more confident painter might add tiny puffs of smoke along the track.
A snow globe with a tiny bakery and a striped awning sits beside a jar of candy canes, the painted shopfront and warm glow filling every corner of the page.
A snow globe holding a covered bridge over a frozen creek rests on a gingham cloth, a pair of mittens tucked beside it and a painted farmhouse table filling the rest of the sheet.
Parlour And Vanity Globes
A snow globe with a pink Victorian house inside sits on a vanity among perfume bottles and loose pearls, the painted mirror and soft lace cloth filling the page around it.
Place it opposite the piano page further on, so the two parlour scenes face each other across the spread. A strip of ribbon glued along the vanity’s edge ties the two pages together nicely.
A snow globe with tiny caroling angels sits on a piano top, a brass bell and a sprig of holly resting beside it, the painted piano keys and warm parlour light filling the page.
A cluster of mini snow globes crowds a tiered cake stand, ribbon and pine sprigs tucked between them, the whole arrangement set against a softly painted sideboard. Background Papers
Slip this one under a framed photo on a mantel spread, line a small pocket with it, or wrap it around a journal cover for the opening page. The tiny globes and holly repeat sit well against cream, keeping the whole kit’s palette consistent.
Use this soft blue sheet as a pocket lining behind a hearth scene, as backing for a photo of last year’s tree, or folded into a simple cover. The scattered glitter flecks keep it light without overpowering a spread.
Try this blush pink pattern behind the Victorian house vanity page, as a journal cover, or cut down small to line the inside of a pocket page holding tickets and tags.
Sage green suits a quieter spread: use it under a candid photo, as the inside cover of the whole journal, or as a simple pocket lining for pressed holly leaves. It sits comfortably beside the cream and blush papers earlier in this set.
Lined Writing Pages
Use this frame of a snow globe dome with a tiny village at its base for a Christmas gift list, a short letter to next year’s self, or notes on the year’s favourite ornament. The ruled lines sit clear in the middle, ready for pen.
Write a holiday menu, a note tucked for a houseguest, or a short memory of this year’s tree in the open space here. The glittering globe and holly corner keep the border light without crowding the lines.
This page suits a gift list, a short carol lyric copied out by hand, or a line or two about the shop where a favourite globe was found. The row of mini snow globes sits along the top edge only, leaving the rest clear.
Jot down a recipe for cocoa, a wish list, or a note to tuck inside next year’s stocking. The brass globe base and falling snowflakes trace a quiet border, leaving the ruled center open for whatever needs saying. What to Do Next
Print the full set, trim the sheets to fit your journal, and start gluing the mantel and shelf pages in first so the little worlds inside each globe lead naturally into the sweets, parlour and village sections that follow.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for a snow globe junk journal kit?
Heavyweight matte paper around 24 to 32 lb works best, since it holds color well and resists curling after gluing. Cardstock suits the background papers especially, as they get handled more as pockets and covers.
What printer settings give the best results?
Set the printer to its best or photo quality and choose borderless printing if available, since these pages are meant to run edge to edge. A matte or presentation paper setting keeps colors close to what you see on screen.
What size should I print these pages?
Standard letter or A4 size works for most journals and lets you trim down to smaller sizes as needed. Print one test page first to check the scale against your journal’s actual cover before printing the full set.
What do I use to color or embellish these pages?
Nothing is required, since every page already comes full color and ready to glue in as is. For extra touches, fine tip pens in black or sepia work well for adding handwritten captions or dates.
What glue works best for assembling the pages?
A standard acid free glue stick works well for flat pages, while a small amount of liquid glue suits pockets and layered edges. Keep craft scissors nearby for trimming corners and cutting out any pocket shapes.
