33 Free Prayer Junk Journal Pages With Quiet Chapels, Doves and White Lilies

A prayer junk journal needs pages that hold still for a moment, and this set gives you 33 of them: 23 full scenes, 5 seamless backgrounds and 5 lined writing pages, all on the same quiet theme of chapels, doves, lilies and open skies. Every scene is a different subject, from a lighthouse over a stormy sea to a Bible open on a lace cloth, so nothing in the kit repeats itself.

Print the whole set on plain white or lightly cream cardstock, something around 24 to 32 lb so the washes do not show through the back of the page. Set your printer to its best or photo quality and let each sheet dry flat for a minute before you handle it, then trim to the size of your journal with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Chapels and Sacred Places

A small white chapel sits at the end of a grass path, its single bell tower catching the last of the light while wildflowers lean against the fence around it.

Pair this one with the lily pattern page later in the set: lay the chapel door scene on the left and the lily background on the right so the spread reads as one quiet entry about stepping through a threshold into prayer.

The arched wooden door, iron hinges and a stone step worn smooth do the work of the main subject, with a lantern glowing beside the frame and ivy climbing the stone.

The usual mistake with a window scene like this is filling the glass with too much detail, which flattens the light. Keep the pane simple, a single cross shape in warm gold, and let the surrounding stone and climbing roses carry the texture instead.

Use this page for anyone keeping a gratitude or Lenten journal as a gift, since a winding path toward a distant chapel reads as a quiet picture of a season of walking toward something.

Birds and Wings

What question would you answer under this one? Try: what peace are you asking for this week.

The dove in flight carries a small olive branch in its beak, wings spread wide against a pale sky, with a few scattered feathers drifting below it.

Two doves rest close together on a weathered stone ledge, a scattering of seed and a sprig of lavender tucked beside them against a soft grey sky.

Tear the top edge of this page slightly before gluing it in, so the dove seems to rise straight out of the torn paper into the sky above the harbor.

A single dove glides low over a row of small fishing boats, their masts bare, with gulls resting on the dock posts nearby.

flowered window box holding a nest, two dove chicks, a watering can, and a strip of lace curtain visible at the edge, with a stone wall behind it all.

Scripture and Still Life

Glue a small pressed flower or a real ribbon bookmark onto this page once it is dry, right along the open spine of the Bible, so the page holds something you actually touched.

The open Bible rests on white lace, a teacup and a sprig of rosemary nearby, with soft light coming through a window behind the table.

For the five minute version, paint only the candle and rosary coiled beside it, skip the extra books, and let the desk surface and wall behind carry the rest of the page.

Folded hands rest beside a single white lily in a slender glass vase, with a handwritten note and a loose petal resting on the table near them.

This page suits a grandmother or an older relative in a gift journal, since an old hymnal with pressed flowers tucked between its pages speaks to decades of singing the same songs.

Keep this spread simple: place the communion scene on its own page rather than facing a busy background, so the quiet plate of bread and small cup of wine have room to sit alone on the white linen.

Light and Shelter

Write the words of a favorite psalm about storms along the base of this page, since the lighthouse beam cutting through dark waves and spray gives the verse somewhere to stand.

The usual mistake with a shepherd scene is making the figure too detailed and stiff. Keep him as a soft silhouette with a staff, let the sheep scattered across the hillside carry the warmth, and paint the twilight sky loosely behind them.

A single lamp glows in the window of a small stone cottage at the edge of a snowy village, smoke rising from the chimney against a cold evening sky.

Place this page across from the wheat field scene so the spread moves from a sign of promise on one side to a harvest of thanks on the other, a natural pairing for an entry about provision.

Gardens and Fields

Rows of old olive trees stand twisted and silver grey in the early light, a low stone wall and a worn path running between them toward a distant hill.

For the entry on this page, try answering a short question: what has been taken care of without your worrying about it.

White lilies grow thick along the bank of a slow stream, with dragonflies hovering above the water and tall grass bending at the edge of the frame.

Golden wheat bends under a wide sky, a few scattered poppies at the field’s edge and a single wooden cross marking the boundary between field and road.

Tea stain just the lower edge of this page before gluing it in, letting the brown wash fade upward toward the roses so the climbing stems along the old cloister wall look even older.

Neat rows of grapevines climb a gentle slope toward a cluster of red roofed houses, a wooden ladder leaning against the nearest row and baskets waiting at its foot.

This page is suited to a parent or grandparent keeping a prayer journal for a child, a quiet picture of an angel figure beside a small bed with a quilt and a worn toy nearby.

Background Papers

Small white lilies and slender olive leaves scatter across the page in a loose repeating pattern, in the same dusty rose and sage palette as the rest of the set. Use it under a photograph, as a cover for the whole journal, or as a soft lining behind a pressed flower page.

Tiny doves and loose feathers repeat in scattered rows across the page, light enough to sit behind a photograph without competing with it. Good for a title page, a pocket lining, or the back cover of the finished journal.

Soft diamond shapes echo a stained glass window, each one filled with a faint cross or leaf motif in muted color. Use this behind a verse card, as a cover sheet, or tucked behind the communion scene for a heavier, chapel like page.

Small candle flames repeat in soft rows across cream paper, their glow painted in the same muted gold as the lighthouse and lamp lit scenes earlier in the set. Place it behind an evening prayer entry or as a cover for a section on gratitude.

A lace doily motif repeats across the page in a fine, open pattern, echoing the tablecloth beneath the open Bible earlier in the set. Use it as a journal cover, under a family photograph, or as a soft lining behind the hymnal page.

Lined Writing Pages

A narrow border of arched chapel windows runs along the top and bottom of this page, framing faint ruled lines left empty for writing. Use it for a list of people to pray for, a short note of thanks, or a single verse copied out by hand.

Olive branches curl softly in each corner of the page, leaving the center open with faint ruled lines for writing. Good for a letter to next year, a weekly prayer list, or a page of answered prayers kept to look back on.

A single band of white lilies runs down the left edge of the page, with faint ruled lines filling the rest of the sheet. Use it for a gift list of people you are praying for, a Sunday reflection, or a short confession written out privately.

A thin vine dotted with small doves frames all four sides of the page, leaving faint ruled lines open in the middle. Write a short prayer of thanks here, a verse that helped this week, or a simple menu for a Sunday gathering.

A small stone cross with a spray of wildflowers sits in one corner, the rest of the page left open with faint ruled lines. Use it for an evening examen, a list of worries to set down, or a note written to read again next year.

What to Do Next

Print the pages you need first, let them dry flat, then trim and glue them into your journal in whatever order your prayers take you this week. Frequently Asked Questions

What paper works best for these prayer junk journal pages?

Plain white or lightly cream cardstock around 24 to 32 lb holds the soft washes well without the ink showing through the back. Lighter printer paper will work in a pinch but may feel thin once you start gluing pages into a journal and writing on the lined ones.

What printer settings give the best colour on these pages?

Choose your printer’s best or photo quality setting rather than draft, and select plain or matte cardstock as the paper type if your printer offers it. This keeps the muted dusty rose and sage tones soft and even instead of patchy or too dark.

What size should I print the pages for a junk journal?

Most junk journals use a half letter or A5 size page, so set your printer to scale the full page down if your journal is smaller than letter size. Trim the sheets with scissors or a paper trimmer once they are dry and before gluing them in.

Can I color or add to these pages once they are printed?

Yes, a light layer of colored pencil works well over the printed washes if you want to deepen a shadow or warm up a sky. Keep any additions soft and sparing since the pages are already finished scenes meant to sit quietly in the journal.

What do I use to glue the pages into my journal?

An acid free glue stick is enough for most pages since the cardstock is lightweight. For pages near the edge of a crowded journal, a thin line of glue along the spine edge only keeps the sheet flat without wrinkling the painted surface.
