So grab your favorite pen, find a cozy spot, and let’s make something spookily sweet together.

Kawaii Vampire with Tiny Fangs

Drawing a kawaii vampire is one of the sweetest ways to start your Halloween doodle journey. Begin with a big round head, tiny dot eyes, and the cutest little fangs you can imagine. Don’t stress about making it perfect — wobbly lines are totally part of the charm here!

Next, add a small cape with scalloped edges and maybe a little widow’s peak on top. These simple details instantly make your vampire look adorable and spooky at the same time. Additionally, you can tuck in tiny hands peeking out from the cape for extra cuteness.

For this doodle, a smooth black fineliner works beautifully for crisp little details. However, any pen you already own will do the job wonderfully. Check out these fineliners for kawaii doodling to find a set that makes your lines feel satisfying and fun!

Wobbly Floating Ghost

Ghosts are honestly one of the most beginner-friendly Halloween doodles out there. Start with a simple teardrop or blob shape — the wobblier it looks, the more personality your ghost has! Add two little oval eyes and a tiny open mouth, and you already have something genuinely adorable.

From there, consider giving your ghost some character. For example, you could add tiny arms reaching outward or little squiggly edges along the bottom hem. Meanwhile, a subtle drop shadow beneath it makes it look like it’s actually floating above the page. These small touches add so much life!

Practicing loose, confident strokes really helps with flowing ghost shapes. If you’d like to build that confidence, the Pencil Drawing: Complete Beginner to Advanced Guide is a fantastic resource. Also, grab some smooth white drawing paper so your ink glides effortlessly!

Cute Little Bat

Bats might seem tricky, but breaking them into simple shapes makes everything easier. Start with a small round body, then draw two wide curved wings on either side — think letter M but soft and rounded. That’s genuinely all the structure you need to get started!

Next, add two tiny ears on top and the sweetest little face with dot eyes and a small smile. Additionally, you can fold the wingtips slightly to make your bat look like it’s mid-flutter. These tiny details transform a basic shape into something full of personality.

Bats look especially striking in bold black ink because of all that gorgeous negative space in the wings. Therefore, a good quality pen really makes a difference here. Round Smiling Jack-o-Lantern

A round, smiling jack-o-lantern is the ultimate Halloween doodle — and it’s much easier than you think! Start with a big friendly circle, then add a short stem on top. From there, draw a big triangular nose and a wide toothy grin. Already looking festive, right?

Next, add simple curved lines across the pumpkin body to suggest those classic ridges. However, you don’t need many — just two or three gentle curves do the trick beautifully. Additionally, giving your pumpkin big triangle eyes with lashes instantly makes it look extra cute and kawaii.

For this doodle, varying your line weight adds so much depth — thicker outlines, thinner details. This is a great concept to explore further in the Art Fundamentals: Complete Guide to Drawing & Painting Basics. Also, consider these illustration brush pens for gorgeous thick-to-thin line variation!

Bubbly Witch Hat

A bubbly witch hat with a big rounded brim is one of those Halloween doodles that looks impressive but takes only minutes. Start with a wide oval for the brim, then build a tall cone shape on top — but soften the point slightly so it has that cute, slightly droopy witch hat feel.

From there, add a ribbon or buckle detail around the base of the cone. Meanwhile, tiny stars or dots scattered around the hat add instant magic without any extra skill needed. Therefore, even total beginners end up with something that looks wonderfully whimsical.

Adding small doodles like these to a journal page is incredibly satisfying. Chubby Black Cat

Chubby cats are absolutely irresistible to draw, and the Halloween version is no exception. Start with a large round body and a slightly smaller round head sitting right on top — no neck needed, which makes it extra cute! Add two perky triangular ears and you’re already halfway there.

Next, give your cat a tiny round nose, dot eyes, and little curved whiskers on each side. Additionally, a curved tail wrapping around the body adds personality and fills the composition beautifully. However, even without the tail, your round little cat already looks completely charming.

Because this cat is almost entirely black, practicing confident fill-in techniques is really useful here. You’ll want a pen that doesn’t bleed when you fill large areas. These alcohol-free black markers for drawing are wonderful for solid fills. Glowing Crescent Moon

A glowing crescent moon is pure Halloween magic on paper — and incredibly simple to doodle. Start by drawing a circle, then overlap a slightly smaller circle on one side to carve out that classic crescent shape. Erase or ignore the overlap area, and you have a perfect moon in moments!

From there, add a sweet kawaii face on the moon’s curve — tiny eyes and a small smile make it instantly lovable. Additionally, surrounding your moon with little stars, sparkle dots, or floating clouds adds so much atmosphere without requiring any advanced skills. As a result, the whole piece feels complete and magical.

Shading and stippling around the moon creates a beautiful glowing effect too. For example, tiny dots radiating outward suggest soft moonlight beautifully. Mini Haunted House

A tiny haunted house is one of the most satisfying Halloween doodles you can draw. Start with a simple rectangle for the house body, then add a triangle roof on top. From there, you can pile on the fun details — a crooked chimney, a wonky door, and a few lopsided windows make it look perfectly spooky without being complicated.

Additionally, small touches really bring this doodle to life. Try adding a little bat flying above the roof or a crescent moon peeking out from behind a cloud. Even a few jagged lines around the edges suggest overgrown weeds beautifully. Every little mark you add makes your haunted house more unique and charming.

Friendly Frankenstein Face

Frankenstein might sound intimidating, but drawing a friendly version is actually super fun and totally beginner-friendly. Start with a flat-topped rectangle for his head — that classic square shape is the key to recognizing him instantly. Then add two small oval eyes, a stitched smile, and a couple of bolts on either side of his neck.

However, don’t overthink the details. Simple thick eyebrows drawn as short rectangles give him that wonderfully grumpy-but-lovable expression everyone adores. Additionally, a few small stitch marks across his forehead add charm without requiring any advanced skill. You genuinely cannot mess this one up.

Using a bold marker helps your Frankenstein look confident and graphic. These Halloween doodle markers are perfect for thick, clean outlines. Silly Candy Corn Trio

Candy corn is basically three triangles stacked together, which makes it one of the easiest and most rewarding Halloween doodles ever. Draw a tall triangle, then add two curved horizontal lines across it to create the three color sections. That’s honestly the whole shape — simple and adorable.

Therefore, once you have one candy corn down, drawing a whole trio becomes incredibly quick. Try giving each one a tiny face with dot eyes and a little curved smile. Meanwhile, tilting them at slightly different angles makes your group look playful and full of personality. Small variations between each piece keep things interesting.

Arranging your trio with one in the middle slightly taller than the others creates a naturally pleasing composition. As a result, your doodle looks intentional without any extra effort. Grab some black fine point pens for doodling to draw those clean little faces. Additionally, the Pencil Drawing: Complete Beginner to Advanced Guide can help you sketch shapes confidently before inking.

Bubbly Halloween Cauldron

A Halloween cauldron is such a classic doodle, and drawing it is way easier than you might expect. Start with a wide oval for the opening at the top, then bring two curved lines down and around to form that classic round pot belly shape. Adding three small legs underneath gives it that instantly recognizable cauldron look.

However, the bubbles are where the real magic happens. Draw several circles of different sizes popping up from the opening — some overlapping, some floating higher up. Additionally, a few wavy lines rising from the bubbles suggest steam beautifully without any complicated technique required. This is such a satisfying step.

For extra personality, try adding a tiny skull or star shape on the cauldron’s side as a little decorative detail. As a result, your cauldron goes from simple to wonderfully witchy in seconds. These sketchbook journals for beginners are great for practicing this one repeatedly. Furthermore, check out the Junk Journaling: The Complete Beginner to Advanced Handbook for creative ways to use your Halloween doodles in fun projects.

Cozy Wrapped Mummy

Drawing a mummy sounds tricky, but it’s really just a simple figure covered in overlapping curved strips — and that’s totally achievable for beginners. Start with a basic oval head and a rectangular body shape. From there, draw loosely curved horizontal lines across both shapes to suggest the wrapped bandages. They don’t need to be perfect — messy lines actually look more authentic.

Additionally, leaving small gaps between the bandage lines creates that wonderful layered wrapping effect. Two small oval eyes peeking through the face area give your mummy an instantly lovable expression. For extra coziness, try adding a few bandage ends trailing off to the sides, as if your mummy just got loosely wrapped in a hurry.

Meanwhile, rounding your mummy’s overall shape — a little plump rather than stick-thin — makes it look extra cute and approachable. As a result, your doodle feels warm and friendly rather than scary. These illustration pens for beginners help you draw those curved bandage lines smoothly. Plump Spider on a Web

Spiders make wonderfully fun Halloween doodles because their round, chubby bodies are so easy and satisfying to draw. Start with a large circle for the body and a smaller circle sitting on top for the head. Then draw four curved legs on each side — they don’t need to be symmetrical, and a little wobbliness makes your spider look even more charming.

However, the web is what really makes this doodle shine. Draw a small X shape first, then connect the lines with gentle curved arcs to build outward rings. Additionally, you can simplify the web to just a few lines in a corner if a full web feels like too much. Either way looks wonderful.

Therefore, try drawing your spider hanging from a single thread dropped from the web — that little detail is endlessly cute. As a result, your composition feels dynamic and storytelling-like. Stock up on doodle pens for beginners to make both fine web lines and bold spider outlines easy. Tiny Potion Bottle

A tiny potion bottle might be the most magical Halloween doodle in your collection. Start with a small rounded rectangle for the bottle body, then narrow it into a short neck at the top and finish with a simple cork or stopper shape. That basic outline alone already looks incredibly cute and recognizable.

From there, the fun details make all the difference. Try adding a small skull-and-crossbones on the label area, or draw little stars and bubbles inside the bottle to suggest a mysterious liquid. Additionally, a few tiny drips running down the bottle side give it wonderful character. Meanwhile, varying the bottle shape — rounder, taller, or with a more angular base — makes each one feel unique.

Drawing a small collection of different potion bottles together looks absolutely charming on any journal page or sketchbook spread. As a result, this doodle pairs beautifully with other Halloween subjects like cauldrons and spell books. These black ink pens for illustration are perfect for those fine label details.
