31 Free Shabby Chic Junk Journal Pages and Ideas in Faded Roses, Lace and Chipped White Paint

Shabby chic junk journal ideas usually start with a mood board and a long list of things to paint before the pages even come together. This kit skips that step. All 31 sheets arrive finished: 22 scene pages of roses, lace and chipped white paint, 4 seamless background patterns, and 5 lined writing pages with soft floral borders, ready to print and glue straight into a journal.

Print on matte cardstock, somewhere between 65 and 110 lb, so the colour sits flat and paint does not warp the sheet. Set the printer to its best or photo quality and let the page fill the paper edge to edge, with borderless printing turned on if your printer supports it. A paper trimmer gives cleaner edges than scissors, especially on the pattern pages where straight lines matter.

Cottage Furniture Pages

A white chippy dresser holds a chipped pitcher stuffed with faded pink roses, with a lace runner, a small mirror and a dish of loose petals arranged along its top.

Pair this one with the faded rose pattern page further on: trim a strip of the pattern and glue it along the bottom edge as a painted border, letting the bench sit above it like a little stage.

Glue in a torn scrap of real floral wallpaper or a pressed flower on the shelf beside the cups, then tea-stain the whole edge of the page lightly before it dries so the cupboard looks found, not printed.

A vanity table holds a row of glass perfume bottles, a powder puff, a string of pearls and a small vase of sweet peas, with a lace curtain painted softly behind it.

Windows and Light Pages

Glue a folded paper doily fragment along the sill, or tuck a pressed flower into the corner where the lace falls, so the window holds something small and real.

Place this page across from the lace window on a facing spread and let the ivy on one page visually lean toward the lace on the other, so the two windows read as one cottage wall.

The usual mistake here is leaving the sill bare: dried flowers alone look stiff, so always paint a soft wash of light behind them to carry warmth across the whole page.

French doors open onto a rose garden path, with a pair of worn gardening gloves and a basket of cut blooms resting just inside on the floor.

Tea and Table Pages

Write the story of one cup here: where it came from, who drank from it last, or what you would serve in it today, right along the shelf edge.

This spread works well paired with the cookbook pages in this cookbook junk journal kit if the reader keeps recipes alongside her tea pages.

A silver tray holds a sugar bowl, a small dish of lemon slices, a pair of tongs and a folded linen napkin, set against a faint floral wallpaper wash.

The five minute version: paint only the stand and its top tier of macarons, skip the lower tiers, and let a loose wash of pink and cream fill the rest of the page behind it.

Keepsakes and Trinkets Pages

Tuck a short tag or ribbon scrap of your own into the ribbons painted on the box, so the page holds a small real object alongside the painted one.

An open jewelry box spills a string of pearls, a cameo brooch and a scrap of lace trim, with a dried rosebud tucked into one corner of the lid.

Place this page beside the lace pattern background further on, trimming a thin strip of the pattern to glue along the spine as a soft binding.

An old wire birdcage holds a cluster of paper roses instead of a bird, hung with a faded ribbon bow, against a soft wash of pale sky.

Mantels and Corners Pages

The mantel scene suits a gift journal made for a mother or grandmother: leave the lined page nearby open for a note about a house she once kept this way.

A small corner shelf holds a stack of folded lace doilies, a single teacup and a tiny bud vase, tucked into the angle where two walls meet.

What is the warmest room you remember as a child, and what sat in front of its fire: write the answer along the base of this page where the hearth would be.

A small crystal chandelier hangs draped in strings of pearls and a faded ribbon, catching soft light against a pale ceiling wash above it.

Garden Corners Pages

A weathered white garden gate stands half open under a climbing rose arch, with a watering can and a pair of clippers resting against the fence post.

The usual mistake with a window box page is painting the flowers too neatly in a row: let a few blooms spill lower than the rest so the box looks lived in, not arranged.

Background Papers

Small faded pink roses repeat in loose rows across the sheet, each bloom slightly different in size and turn. Use it behind a photo of a garden, as a soft cover wrap, or torn into strips for borders between other pages.

A pale cream lace doily pattern covers the sheet corner to corner in a soft repeat. Slip it behind a teacup photo, use it as a journal cover, or cut it down for a quiet page between two busier scenes.

A soft all-over texture of chipped white paint over faded blue wood fills the sheet with no single focal point. Good under a black and white photo, as a plain journal cover, or layered behind a lined page for extra warmth.

Narrow cream and dusty rose stripes run the length of the sheet, scattered with tiny rosebuds between them. Works well as a cover, under a pressed flower photo, or trimmed into a thin strip to frame another page’s edge.

Lined Writing Pages

Faded roses spray across both top corners with faint lines running through the middle. Use it for a gift list, a note about a garden visit, or a short letter to next year’s self about the house you hope to have.

A soft lace band runs down the left side of the page, leaving faint lines open beside it. Good for a tea party menu, a list of flowers to plant, or a few lines about a found object glued in nearby.

Tiny painted teacups line the top edge like a shelf, with faint lines below for writing. Fits a recipe you want to remember, a guest list for an afternoon tea, or a line about who first gave you a cup like this.

A thin chipped white frame borders the whole sheet, faint lines open inside it. Use it for a short letter, a list of rooms you want to recreate, or a note about the day you started this journal.

A small painted garden gate and climbing rose sit along the bottom edge, faint lines filling the space above. Good for a planting list, a note to a friend who shares your love of old houses, or a simple date and title line.

What to Do Next

Print the full set of 31 pages on cardstock, trim them to the size of your journal, and start gluing the scene pages in order by section so the roses, windows and tea tables build a story as you turn the pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper works best for shabby chic junk journal pages?

Matte cardstock between 65 and 110 lb holds the soft washes well without curling. Lighter paper can buckle once glued into a journal, so stay on the heavier end if you plan to layer pages or add a wash over the top later.

What printer settings give the best colour on these pages?

Choose your printer’s best or photo setting and matte or cardstock paper type if that option exists. Borderless printing keeps the painted background running to the very edge of the sheet, which matters most on the pattern pages and the full scene pages.

What size should I print the pages for a junk journal?

Standard letter or A4 works for most journals, then trim down with a paper trimmer to fit your cover size. A5 is a common finished size for handheld journals, so print at full size first and resize smaller sheets around it.

Can I add my own coloring or collage on top of these pages?

Yes, a light wash of watered down ink or a few pressed petals glued on top adds texture without fighting the printed scene. Keep any extra layer soft and pale so it sits with the muted palette instead of against it.

How do I keep 31 pages feeling like one matching journal?

Print them all in one batch so the colour stays consistent across the set, and keep the scene pages grouped by their sections rather than scattered at random. The four background pages work well as section dividers between groups of scenes.
