Table of Contents
This coffee junk journal kit gives a coffee lover 33 pages built around cafe tables, steaming mugs and the small rituals of a slow morning. The set opens with 23 full scene pages, moves into 5 seamless background patterns of beans and cups, and closes with 5 lined writing pages framed in coffee motifs.
Print everything on heavyweight paper so the washes do not show through the back, set the printer to its best or highest quality setting, and trim each sheet to the journal size before gluing it in. Nothing here needs folding, pockets or extra assembly: every page is finished and ready to use as it prints.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Cafes And Terraces
Pair this one with the bean pattern page later in the set, tucking a strip of it behind the terrace as a false awning or table runner glued along the bottom edge.
A barista tilts a steel pitcher over a cup, pouring a rosette into the foam while a row of mugs and a espresso machine wait behind the counter.
Leave a little space along the chalkboard’s painted edge for a glued-on ticket stub or a torn corner of a real cafe receipt, so the page holds a true souvenir.
The rest of the sheet stays busy enough to carry the page on its own even without anything added.
Glue a small photo of a real cafe visit into the empty seat near the window, where the light falls across the painted table.
Kitchen Still Life
The usual mistake with a still life page like this one is leaving too much blank shelf around the object. Fill the gaps with a tin of beans, a small jar of sugar and a folded cloth so the shelf reads as lived in rather than staged.
A stovetop moka pot sits beside a small cup, a folded tea towel and a bowl of sugar cubes, with a tiled kitchen wall painted behind the whole arrangement.
This page suits a reader who journals her morning routine, since the pot alone can hold a short note about how she takes her coffee.
Write today’s date or a short tasting note on the label of the painted jar in the center, where the glass leaves enough blank space for a few words.
Weather And Window Pages
Rain streaks down a windowpane beside a steaming mug set on the sill, with a blurred street and umbrellas painted softly in the glass beyond.
Tear the bottom edge of this page by hand before gluing it in, so the leaves look scattered rather than cut off by a clean line.
A thermos, a knit scarf and a scatter of fallen leaves sit together on a painted bench, with bare branches behind.
The five minute version of this page works fine on its own: the glowing window and falling snow carry the scene without needing anything glued or added later.
A striped umbrella shades a small table set with two cups, a slice of lemon cake and a folded napkin, with climbing vines painted along a courtyard wall behind.
Try tea-staining the outer edge of this page before trimming it, so the ring marks already painted on the sheet blend into a real stained border.
Mornings At Home
What question would this cup answer today. Leave a line of space near the tray for a short morning prompt written straight onto the page.
Place this page across from the sidewalk chalkboard page in the finished journal, so one spread holds a quiet home morning on one side and a busy cafe on the other.
A cup and croissant rest on a small balcony table, with rooftops and a pale sky painted beyond the railing.
A small cat curls beside a half finished cup on a cushioned windowsill, with a potted herb and folded blanket painted nearby.
Good gift journal page for a reader who studies or writes with coffee close at hand, since the open book leaves room to note a favorite line nearby.
A glass pour over dripper sits over a mug, with a kettle, a timer and a small scale arranged around it on a painted wooden counter.
Collected Objects
Glue a torn scrap of real packaging or a printed label fragment onto the blank face of the tin for a page that mixes paint and paper together.
A torn cafe receipt rests beside a small scatter of loose beans and a folded napkin, with a plain wooden table painted behind the arrangement.
Leave the center of the postcard blank on purpose, since that empty rectangle is meant to hold a real postcard or a printed photo glued flat over the paint.
A string tied bundle of beans and a stamp sit in the corner to frame the space.
Three mismatched cups in different patterns sit together on a dresser top, with a lace runner and a small framed photo painted behind them.
Fold the top corner of this page down before gluing it in, so the branch appears to grow out from behind a small painted flap.
Stacked burlap sacks spill open to show raw beans, with a hanging scale, a chalkboard price sign and crates of produce painted around the stall.
Background Papers
Use this scattered bean pattern as a page under glued photos, a plain backing for a cover sheet, or a quiet divider between the busier scene pages in the set.
This damask of small cups and saucers works well behind a framed photo, as a journal cover, or lining a pocket page elsewhere in the kit.
Borrow this ticking stripe pattern for a cover sheet, a photo mat, or a plain backing behind a lined writing page later in the journal.
These small steam swirls rising in rows suit a cover page, a background behind a cafe photo, or a divider sheet between two sections of scenes.
Plain and quiet, this aged paper texture works well as a backing behind a busy scene page, a cover sheet, or a lining for the back of the journal.
Lined Writing Pages
Use this page for a daily coffee order, a short note on how the morning started, or a line about the weather outside the window.
Write the name of a cafe visited, what was ordered, or who sat across the table on this lined sheet left open in the middle.
Fitting for a kitchen style recipe, a list of brewing steps, or a note on a favorite blend, with the lines left open below a narrow border.
Good for a letter to next year, a note tucked for a future slow morning, or a short wish written while the coffee is still warm.
Suited to a gift list for a coffee lover, a menu for a brunch gathering, or a short list of blends still worth trying.
What to Do Next
Print the full set, trim each page to size, and start gluing from the first scene page through to the last lined sheet, working in the order the sections suggest.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for these coffee junk journal pages?
Choose a heavyweight matte cardstock, around 90 to 110 lb, so the washes print cleanly without bleeding through to the back of the sheet. Plain printer paper works in a pinch but feels thin once glued into a journal and will show ghosting from the page behind it.
What printer settings should I use?
Set the printer to its best or highest photo quality setting and choose matte or plain cardstock in the paper type menu so the ink lays down evenly. Turn off any automatic color correction so the muted roasted brown and cream tones print true to the screen preview.
What size should I print the pages at?
Print at full page size, either US letter or A4, then trim each sheet down to match the journal’s cover size. Keeping one consistent trim size across all 33 pages makes the finished journal sit flat and look tidy once everything is glued in.
Do I need to color or paint anything myself?
No, every page prints fully finished in color and is ready to glue straight into a journal. A fine tip pen is only needed if a reader wants to add handwriting, dates or short notes on the lined pages or in open spaces on the scene pages.
Can I reuse the background patterns for other projects?
Yes, the five seamless background pages work equally well as journal covers, photo backing sheets or dividers in any coffee themed paper project. They are not limited to this kit and can be printed again separately whenever more are needed.
