Table of Contents
This easter junk journal kit gives you 33 full-page sheets built around one gentle spring theme: bunnies in the garden, painted eggs, daffodil fields and a family Easter table. Twenty-three scene pages carry the story, five seamless background papers fill in covers and photo backdrops, and five lined writing pages give you room to journal about the season.
Print the whole set on matte cardstock, around 90 to 120 gsm, so the colour sits nicely and the paper takes glue without buckling. Set your printer to its best or photo quality and to actual size, not fit to page, then trim each sheet to your journal size with scissors or a paper trimmer before you glue anything in.
Using these images: free for personal projects such as printing, coloring, cards, journals and gifts. Handmade items that include them may be sold up to 30 pieces per design. More than that is commercial use and is not permitted, and neither is selling or sharing the images themselves or passing them off as your own. Please ask before any other use.
Bunny and Garden Scenes
Two soft grey bunnies lean into a woven basket heaped with painted eggs, set against a wash of green lawn and pale sky.
Pair this page with the clover pattern background further down the set: let the pattern sit on the page before it so the bunny family seems to hop straight out of the print and onto the scene.
A mother bunny and two small ones sit among clover and dandelions, with a butterfly and a painted sky filling the rest of the sheet.
Leave a line or two under this page for the date and a note on the weather, since quiet pages like this one make good anchors for short daily entries.
Tuck a seed packet or a photo of your own garden onto this page, since the open rows of tulips leave a natural spot for something small glued flat near the wheelbarrow.
Rows of red and yellow tulips line a garden path, a wooden wheelbarrow rests at the edge, and a garden shed sits in the painted background.
A tin watering can rests among daffodils and grape hyacinth, with a low garden wall and painted morning sky filling the page edge to edge.
The usual mistake with a branch page like this is leaving too much bare paper around the bird: paint the sky in soft colour behind the blossoms so nothing is left plain white.
Church and Village Scenes
A small stone church with a bell tower stands at the edge of a daffodil field under a soft spring sky.
This page works well as the five minute version of a spread: glue it in on its own with nothing added, and let the bunting and cottages carry the page without any extra writing.
Paper bunting strings between two cottages along a cobbled lane, with window boxes of tulips and a bicycle leaning against a wall.
A low iron gate opens onto a churchyard path lined with narcissus, framed by old trees and a pale sky.
Ask yourself what the village smelled like that morning, bread, flowers or rain, and write one line of the answer along the bottom edge of this page.
A small group walks across a village green carrying baskets and flowers, with the church spire visible in the painted distance.
Table and Kitchen Scenes
A long table is set with a lamb-shaped cake, painted eggs in a bowl and a jug of tulips, linen cloth spread beneath it all.
Write the family recipe for hot cross buns along the bottom of this page, or just the year you first tried baking them yourself.
Bowls of coloured dye sit in a row with eggs half dipped, spoons resting on a newspaper spread across the table.
A window behind the table shows a soft garden view, painted in the same quiet palette as the rest of the page.
A woven basket filled with chocolate eggs and ribbon sits on a hearth rug, with a mantel and soft firelight painted behind it.
For a food page of your own, see the ideas gathered in 14 Easy Watercolor Food Ideas for Your Journal, which share the same quiet table approach as this one.
Animals and Nests
A newborn lamb stands close to its mother in a green meadow dotted with daisies under a soft pale sky.
Pick one duckling on this page and give it a name in a line of writing underneath, the way you might label a photo in an old album.
A nest holds three speckled eggs tucked into a blossoming branch, with soft sky painted behind the whole arrangement.
Fold the bottom corner of this page up slightly before you glue it in, so the hatching chick peeks out a little further than the page around it.
A fluffy yellow chick pushes out of a cracked egg, with a scattering of straw and two unhatched eggs beside it on a soft green background.
A speckled hen stands guard over a small pile of painted eggs in the straw, a farmyard fence painted in the distance.
Easter Keepsakes
A straw bonnet trimmed with ribbon and silk flowers rests on a chair, with a pair of gloves and a small spring posy beside it.
An old Easter card leans against a small stack of pressed violets and a fountain pen, a lace doily spread beneath them all.
Leave the card in this page blank in the painting so you can glue a real postcard or photo over it later if you like.
Background Papers
Decorated eggs in a shallow basket sit on a wooden shelf beside a small vase of pussy willow, wallpaper painted softly behind.
Scattered pastel eggs in soft rose, sage and cream repeat across the page. Use it as a journal cover, a lining behind a photo of an egg hunt, or a backdrop for pasted ticket stubs from a spring outing.
Daffodils climb a faint trellis line across the whole sheet. Good under a photo of the garden, as a cover for the whole journal, or torn into strips for a border along another page.
A soft gingham check in muted spring colours covers the sheet. Works well as a table scene backdrop, a lining for the inside cover, or a base layer behind a pasted recipe card.
Small bunny silhouettes hop in loose rows across the page. Pair it behind a family photo, use it as the cover sheet, or trim a strip to frame a bunny scene page.
Lined Writing Pages
Narrow stripes in sage and cream run the length of the page. Use it as a quiet cover, a lining behind pressed flowers, or a calm backdrop for a busier scene page nearby.
A corner spray of tulips and ribbon frames the top of this page. Use the lines below for a gift list, a short note on this year’s egg hunt, or a letter to read again next spring.
A thin band of daffodils runs down the left side of this page. Jot down what you planted this spring, a menu for an Easter lunch, or a few lines about the weather on the day.
Tiny painted eggs frame all four corners of this page. Use it to record who found the most eggs, where the hunt was held, or a short list of hiding spots for next year.
A faint sprig of narcissus sits along the bottom edge of this page. Write a short Easter morning memory, a line from a hymn, or a letter to someone you missed at the table.
What to Do Next
Print the set, trim each page to your journal size, and start with one of the scene pages so the bunnies and eggs set the tone before the backgrounds and lined pages fill in around them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What paper works best for printing this easter junk journal kit?
Matte cardstock between 90 and 120 gsm gives the best result. It holds the watercolour colours well without curling, takes glue cleanly, and feels sturdy enough to handle and fold once it is trimmed and glued into a journal.
What printer settings should I use?
Choose your printer’s best or photo quality setting and set the page to actual size rather than fit to page, so nothing gets stretched or cropped. Load plain paper settings off and cardstock or heavyweight settings on, if your printer offers them.
What size should each page be?
Print the pages at standard letter or A4 size and trim them down to match your journal, whether that is a small pocket size or a full page spread. Keep a small margin when trimming so you do not cut into any painted detail near the edge.
What should I use to glue the pages into a journal?
An acid free glue stick works well for flat pages and keeps the paper from wrinkling. For pages you fold or layer, a thin line of craft glue along the edges holds well without soaking through the paper.
Can I colour or add to these pages myself?
Yes. The pages print fully coloured, but you can add fine tip pen details, a little extra watercolour, or small glued additions like pressed flowers or ribbon once the page is trimmed and ready for the journal.
